Q: How do you research the cultivation formulas used in the work from Confucian and Daoist texts? Have you bought a bunch of Daoist and Confucian texts?

A: I do read related texts because I enjoy finding such formulas and poetry, but I have not particularly bought them specifically.

Q: What is your secret behind being able to write so much while having a separate main job? I would be tired in a month.

A: I write while remaining endlessly thankful. Not like in a religious way, but being thankful towards my readers, parents, related personnel, myself, and Seo Eun-hyun himself. I guess you could say I’m writing in the style of Issac Netero.

Q: I am curious about how the webtoon adaptation is going. How much are you involved in the webtoon?

A: How the webtoon is progressing is a spoiler because it could be a bit dangerous for me to speak about… I plan to avoid involving myself with the webtoon besides specific foreshadowing and settings. In the first place, I think adaptations are not the original author’s work but the adaptors’ work with less than 10% contribution from the original author, so unless the work is seriously ruined like doing an “it was all a dream” ending, I plan not to interfere with it much.

Q: Out of every regression you wrote so far, what do you like the best, and what do you regret the most?

A: I like Buk Hyang-hwa’s 10th regression best, and I regret the Mad Lord’s 12th and 13th regressions the most.

Seo Eun-hyun should have rejected her as originally planned, but my self-esteem was weakened after Buk Hyang-hwa, so I feel I made the wrong choice… that’s why I regret that the most.

A: I try to use that to mostly write about True Immortal related stuff, but it can sometimes be just emphasis.

Q: How do you decide on awesome hanja names like Severing Mountain Swordsmanship, Red Lightning Heavenly Tribulation Method, and Ghostly Yin Transformation Immortal Root?

A: I usually open my hanja dictionary. Hehe.

Q: I am curious about the process behind naming techniques. Do you decide upon the meaning first and then look at hanja dictionaries and classic texts?

A: Yes, I usually decide on the meaning and the narrative and then look at hanja dictionaries and classic texts.

Q: Do you have any books you refer to when gathering information on Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism?

A: I picked things up here and there, so I don’t have a particular suggestion… If I had to decide on one, Book of Documents?

Q: I want to know about the story of “Thunder Daoist” that Jeon Myeong-hoon read!!!

A: I’m not really sure, because I made up that title based on a famous xianxia novel… but since Jeon Myeong-hoon himself is based on Wang Lin of Renegade Immortal, so it might be similar to that.

Q: How far are we into the Middle Realm arc?

A: I think I will end up with more…

But we are still 40 to 45% in.

Q: Also, the 40~45% of the above question appears to be about the work as a whole, so how much progress did we make in the Middle Realms?

A: Progress into the Middle Realms is similar to the progress of the whole work as a whole. Slightly less than half done.

Q: You are taking care of your health, right…? Recently, you’ve been sick pretty often, so I am worried.. Please be healthy.

A: My physical health is pretty good. Hehe.

Q: Who’s your favorite character?

A: I think they are Seo Hweol, Hong Fan, Seo Eun-hyun.

Q: If you ever write fantasy later, will you write super high power fantasy like A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation?

A: While the stages might be organized… it probably won’t be super high powered like A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation. Of course, I might write xianxia or cosmic horror, so I’m not sure.

Q: I want to see a porcupine esteemed one and a Welsh Corgi esteemed one.

A: I like the idea of a porcupine esteemed one. If I remember it, I will show one when it’s time for high stage Seo Eun-hyun to scratch their belly.

Q: You’ve stated before that when writing some characters move according to their own will. Which character is like that the most?

A: Kim Yeon and Seo Eun-hyn, Yeon Wei sometimes when she suddenly moves, and Oh Hyun-seok when he hides.

Q: Out of every method/martial arts/technique/starting form you’ve made, which do you think is the coolest?

A: I think the sword form that Seo Eun-hyun will make in the future is the coolest. Hehehe. This is a spoiler, though…

Out of everything so far, I am most satisfied with the Great Mountain Splitting Emperor technique.

Q: I really like Hong Su-ryeong. Personally, her death is one of my favorite parts. On that topic, given that so many characters have appeared so far, who are your favorite characters that you put a lot of effort into, in order?

A: Considering top 10 at this point

A: It is an immortal art.

Q: Out of the all the forms of Severing Mountain Swordsmanship, which is your favorite?

A: Foolish Old Man Moves Mountains. Endless Mountains Beyond Mountains.

Q: Out of ghost path methods, curse methods, and devil path methods, which is Seo Eun-hyun currently most talented at?

A: Hmmm. The three methods do not have clear boundaries. If I must specify, devil path.

Q: In the case of the Heart Tribe, the mechanism behind the extension of their lifespan, and they do not gather that much energy in their body, so is there still a benefit if Heart Tribe esteemed ones or grand cultivators eat the Longevity Fruit?

A: There is a benefit. Because qi, soul, and fate are actually one, there is still an effect.

Q: What’s the difference between ordinary storage scrolls and peach garden paintings?

A: In ordinary storage scrolls, living beings could lose their life, but in peach garden paintings, their life is preserved.

A: It’s a spoiler, but not an important one to the story… Slightly weaker than the weakest True Immortals. However, it takes a lot of resource to grow that much.

Q: Previously, you’ve said that the gender ratio of cultivators is 50:50. Does this apply to the governing immortals as well?

A: Gender is meaningless to governing immortals.

Q: Is it alright to grow one of the creatures in the Ancient Force Realm’s sea as a pet?

A: They are like Tamagotchi, rather than living beings…

If you really want to, it’s fine to take one or two. However, taking care of them might be difficult, so be careful of that.

Q: How long does Star Shattering -> Entering Nirvana take on average?

A: An average is meaningless, but… about 4 million years?

Q: Why did Gyu Ryeon give elixirs to slave races when they cannot cultivate?

A: Even slave races can live long if they consume elixirs.

Q: I am a bit curious about the slave races of the Bright Cold Realm. Are they unable to even reach the First Star of Qi Refining? Or can they reach Sixth Star but not any higher because they lack the ritual to do so??

A: It depends on the race. Some races can reach the Sixth Star if they devoted themselves to reaching it their whole life. However, some races have a high chance of being unable to feel the spiritual energy itself no matter how they try.

Q: I am curious about cultivation. Is protecting the self by coloring the Nascent Soul with madness the correct method? Looking at Four-Axis and Star Shattering, I am wondering if this is a twisted method as well.

Is it impossible to cultivate in the Heavenly Being stage with methods like condensing the dao heart like in a certain xianxia video game, applying the seven emotions to color the Nascent Soul with the passions of the heart, or protecting the Nascent Soul with Heart Tribe level intent?

A: The last method of protecting with intent might have a possibility. However, madness is the correct path. While the term madness might make it sound a bit dangerous, it is actually closer to ‘immersion’ or ‘focus’.

Q: Previously, you’ve said that even if cultivators change how they look, the influence of their soul will revert them to how they originally look, so does rebuilding the body at Five Energies Converging at the Origin affect the soul itself to change how they look and maintain it? Also, can that process change your sex?

A: To be exact, rebuilding the body is not a change of your appearance, but drawing out the proper potential of the body, so changing appearance is not a correct way to put it.

If you were a hermaphrodite, you could choose to remove one or keep both.

However, for the average person, changing their sex would require cultivation methods like the Taiji Quaking Lightning Body.

Q: It seems like Middle Realms such as Purple Gold Realm will not be visited, will you ever show us the characteristics of each of the Middle Realms? I really like the Ancient Force Realm.

A: Purple Gold Realm was actually from another novel I was planning on writing, but when I wrote A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation instead, I ripped off that entire world into Purple Gold Realm… If I ever write that work, I could show more of it. Ah… but now that I think about it, some of the worldbuilding from the Purple Gold Realm was changed to become part of the Ancient Force Realm. For now, I will say it is a world with similarities to the Ancient Force Realm.

Q: According to Gyu Ryeon’s explanation of the Orthodox Five Elements Axis, isn't the Ancient Force Realm supposed to correspond to Wood? How is that the case when it is full of the sea? Was something done to keep the Owner of Great Mountain in check since Wood beats Earth?

A: Gyu Ryeon knows about a lot of things, but not deeply about them, so not everything she says is correct.

Q: In the chapter Earth Axis, only lifespan gained from cultivation is mentioned, does that mean lifespan gained from the heart path is gone?

It says there is 10,000 years of lifespan is left, but I thought the First Step Before the Throne was supposed to add more than 10,000.

A: I think I made a minor mistake haha…

Q: If there is always a Sacred Vessel cultivator in every Middle Realms, does that mean Star Shattering cultivators are raised up, or is a pushover Entering Nirvana cultivator beat up until they become a Sacred Vessel cultivator? Or is there a different standard?

A: Both methods are used. But the latter is used slightly more often. Usually, if the Entering Nirvana cultivators pray to the True Immortals for a Sacred Vessel cultivator, the True Immortals tend to grant a fate of becoming a Sacred Vessel cultivator. However, if a Sacred Vessel cultivator is really not available, a devil path organism like Yang Su-jin’s Thunder Beast is created and placed on the spot.

Q: Does one get struck by Tribulation Lightning even when ascending stages in the Great Boundary?

A: It’s a spoiler… but I will say that it becomes a slightly different concept.

Q: Is there a reason Heart Tribe members are desperate to fight each other?

A: To be more precise, they like clashing their enlightenments, showing them to each other and communicating with each other, rather than fighting. If Yu Hwa meets another Heart Tribe member that wields a musical instrument, they open a concert rather than fighting each other.

A: Rather than foreshadowing, it was the Esteemed Ones’ waypoint to the Lightning Sacred Sea all along.

Q: Is the turtle Esteemed One from the Bright Cold Realm, since they wanted to stop Jang Ik from reaching the Lightning Sacred Sea? Like, were they pissed that a slave race became an Esteemed One or something?

A: They are from Ancient Force Realm, and specifics are spoilers.

Q: What is a Refining Void Dharma Treasure?

A: Hmm… It’s a spoiler, but not important, so simply speaking, it’s Dharma Treasure on the Integration level.ㅎ

Q: Is the Fox Immortal Beast that won’t show up the Kumiho (9-tails Fox)?

A: Yes.

Q: Before Vast Cold, which Middle Realm did the Enders ascend to?

A: Before Vast Cold, there were different Middle Realms.

Q: Are commonly known immortals going to show up in the work?

A: There is a possibility, but like the Sal Tree, they are likely to show up as rearranged as True Immortals.

Q: Is talent at cultivation genetic?

A: It is genetic to some extent.

Q: Is the Paired Wings Race related to the Parallel Wings Spear and the Paired Wing Dance?

A: It’s just a shared name, haha. But in world, a connection can be made in the sense that they are a metaphor for the Paired Wings Race.

Q: If a mortal or Qi Refining cultivator becomes aware of higher cultivators like True Immortals, True Persons, or Grand Cultivators, do they go insane? Or do they fail to become aware in the first place?

A: From Four-Axis, there is a high chance of driving one mad if they have a weak mental fortitude. However, from Star Shattering, mortals have a high chance of failing to detect them in the first place.

Q: When you say that the four Heavenly Venerables remained constant, does that mean there was no change of Heavenly Venerables at all, or that replacements did happen, but the number always remained four?

A: The former is more correct.

Q: Can high stage cultivators like Entering Nirvana stage deliberately lower their stage to become a mortal or a Qi Refining cultivator?

A: It’s theoretically possible, but unless the memory is completely wiped or their enlightenment is sealed, pure Qi Refining cultivator or mortal will be difficult.

Q: On calculation of lifespan, there is an ambiguity.

Considering Seo Eun-hyun as an example, he is currently Heaven and Earth dual cultivation Four-axis and Seated Detachment, Standing Oblivion.

Does that mean his lifespan is should be late stage Four-Axis(40,000)+Seated Detachment, Standing Oblivion+Minor Boundary Lifespan(Around 3000 years)?

A: Yes. Heart Tribe lifespan adds to cultivation lifespan.

Q: When you say defeating a Star Shattering cultivator would be like Yuan Li Raid mk2, does that mean you’d have to drag every Integration cultivator of the Bright Cold Realm?

A: That is roughly the case, yes.

Q: If the Fighting Ghost Race was at the peak of the Earth Tribe in the past. why did they bother finding ritual methods and cultivate in the Heaven Tribe way?

A: The Heaven Tribe method is massively advantageous in terms of increasing the power of a race. It is important to be able to train very safely up to a certain stage.

Q: Demon beast methods empower one’s wild nature by fitting the form of the consciousness to their race, are all Earth Tribe methods like this? If that is the case, aren’t Earth Tribe methods and Heart Tribe training difficult to do in parallel?

A: Like Jin Ma-yeol showed, you could match the form of the consciousness of the Heart Tribe and the Earth Tribe, or only transform partially. Or like Seo Eun-hyun, you could match the sword and the body and absorb the form of the heart into the form of the Earth.

Q: Are there cultivators that shoot beams from their eyes?

A: There are.

A: You can interpret it either way. A: No, it is not possible.

A: It is theoretically possible.

Q: You previously stated that the average period it takes to reach True Immortal is 5 million years. On average, how many years does a cultivator stay at per stage before ascending?

A: To be honest, the world of A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation is quite perilous, so it’s meaningless… but normally, one spends about 60% of their lifespan before ascending to the next stage.

Q: If a parent had a child before becoming a True Immortal, what would their relationship with their children be like?

A: I think of it as being the size of a universe.

A: There are multiple methods.

Typically, it is best to beg the True Immortals.

Q: Before the separation of True Devil Realm and the Blood Yin Realm, was the middle realm named Nether Devil Realm?

A: Yes, that was the case. However, the name True Devil Realm was also used simultaneously.

A: They are like the Jews hiding from the Nazis bombing them, so they do not survive comfortably. However, compared to the bugs, they have a much higher chance of survival. They tend to run away or just tank it.

Q: Do the True Immortals have a lifespan as well?

If one did not get any more lifespan, how long would it be?

A: Even if you spread the formula, it will take centuries.

Q: Why does the default transformation of Earth Tribes look like the human race?

A: I can explain the reason if I must but… just think of it to be the xianxia default, for convenience.

Q: Like when the excessive madness of the Heart Tribe got in the way of Heavenly Being ascension, if one’s stage in Heaven, Earth, or Heart is too high, are there cases when they are simply unable to learn the methods of other races?

For example, is it impossible to try the Qi Refining stage with the Earth Tribe method if you reached True Immortal with the Heaven Tribe method?

A: Yes, if your stage in Heaven Tribe or Earth Tribe is too high, your chance of failing to learn the Manifestation of the Heart Tribe becomes bigger.

Q: If the save point was saved after the point of possessing an axis, if Seo Eun-hyun after that period regressed with that axis, could the axis stack like the Colorless Glass Swords and become enhanced?

A: Even if you stacked the axes, if they are saturated with energy, they release the leftover energy, so infinite enhancement is probably not happening.

Q: It was said that the Five Blessings Axes affect your fate to some degree, does the Lifespan Axis just directly increase one’s lifespan?

A: It tends to increase the chances of one’s lifespan increasing (ex: Longevity Fruit).

Or are there ways to become strong without cultivation or manifestation?

A: You can be evolved by getting help from the Mad Lord.
