Xia Ling was waiting as well.

Li Lei shifted slightly and gently removed the blanket from her before draping it over Gu Lin’s shivering body.

“He actually chose Gu Lin.” There was some exclamation among the onlookers, a mix of indignance and disappointment.

Gu Lin held onto the blanket tightly as her spirits were lifted instantly. She was no longer shivering. “Brother Lei, I knew you were the best.” She then turned to look at Xia Ling. “As for some people, they really shouldn’t try to act like a phoenix if they’re just a little sparrow.”

“Oh, is it?” Xia Ling calmly said as she turned to look at Li Lei.

She wanted to know what this man was plotting. Given her understanding of him, there was more to it than just what he had done. Indeed, Li Lei’s next move was to remove his own coat and place it over Xia Ling’s shoulders.

“Wah…” everybody was awed.

“What a turn of events. No wonder Boss Li was willing to hand the blanket to Big Miss Gu. He couldn’t bear to let her touch his clothes.” The crew members commented while chewing melon seeds.

“Exactly.” The director continued. “He sure made it clear.”

Handing Gu Lin the blanket was out of civility.

But putting his coat on Xia Ling was out of genuine care and concern.

It was clear how much each of them mattered to him.

Xia Ling could still feel the warmth emanating from Li Lei’s coat as he draped it on her. She looked toward him and smiled. “You’re pretty good at this, huh?”

Li Lei explained to her. “Grandpa Gu is very nice to us, I have to do it on his account.” He made it clear to Xia Ling that what he had done for Gu Lin had nothing to do with his feelings for her, and was only for Old Master Gu’s sake.

Xia Ling was happy to hear that.

Li Lei said, “Can Gu Lin have the blanket for now? She’ll return it to you in a few days once it’s cleaned.”

It was Xia Ling’s property, after all. He had to seek her consent.

Xia Ling replied, “Someone else has used it, it’s too dirty.”

What?! She despised Gu Lin and called her dirty? The onlookers were thrilled by what they heard. Where did this minor celebrity get her guts from? Did she not know that this Big Miss Gu was petty and spiteful?!

And so it happened, Gu Lin raised her voice. “Ye Xingling! Don’t go overboard!” She grabbed the blanket on her and hurled it to the ground. “Who cares for your blanket!” She then stomped on the blanket, leaving her footprints all over it.

Xia Ling was fuming. This was the blanket she had especially brought back from Paris and was full of her memories with Li Lei, and now it was stepped all over by someone? She looked at Gu Lin coldly. “Didn’t you say you were cold?”

“I’m not cold anymore!” Gu Lin knew what she was getting at and disregarded the cold as she went on berating. “What’s so good about you?! You gave me this filthy blanket so you could get Brother Lei’s coat! You scheming vixen!”

How was Xia Ling scheming? Everybody had seen with their own two eyes that Big Boss Li had offered it to her.

“So you’re not actually cold, you’re just trying to pick on me.” Xia Ling maintained her composure.

“So what if I am! Come at me if you’re not happy! Well, come at me!” Gu Lin was provoking Xia Ling now.

Splash .

Xia Ling had kicked her into the water.

“The blanket.” Xia Ling looked at it, a little hurt. “What a waste.”

“You don’t want it anymore?” Li Lei completely ignored Gu Lin who was still hurling mean remarks from the pool as he gently spoke to Xia Ling. When Gu Lin was stomping all over the blanket earlier, he was angered as well — he remembered shopping in Paris with Xia Ling and how radiant she looked in the little store when she tried it on.

They were so loving then.

There was no obstacle from his family, nor any disturbance from Pei Ziheng.

It was the clearest, most beautiful memory of their love life.

And now, it was completely degraded by Gu Lin.

There was some longing in Xia Ling’s eyes, but a moment later, she decided. “I don’t want it anymore.” No way was she going to keep something that that wretched woman had touched. She saw that Li Lei looked a little disheartened and added, “I’ll get another one in Paris.”

“I’ll go with you.” Li Lei’s mood improved instantly.

“Sure.” She smiled like the sun was shining on her.

As the two of them showed their affection for each other, Gu Lin and the rest of the onlookers were almost blinded by it. Gu Lin was making her way out of the pool when she saw Li Lei stroke Xia Ling’s hair. At that moment, she felt like she had lost all will to climb out as she fell back in.

Li Lei never glanced at her a second time.

“Let’s go.” Xia Ling said to him. “After I get changed we can go for a meal.”

Li Lei nodded and held Xia Ling as they walked off together. He stopped after taking a few steps and turned around. “That blanket,” He scanned the crowd and spotted Sister Mai Na. “Help me get rid of it.” Even if it was something they no longer wanted, he would not allow it to be degraded and insulted by just anybody.

Sister Mai Na nodded and immediately went to get it.

Only then did Li Lei take Xia Ling away.

Gu Lin clenched her fists as she witnessed the scene. She wished she could bore a hole in Xia Ling’s back just by staring at her. Wretched woman… I’ll get back at you one day!

She punched the surface of the water, sending a ripple around her.

Seeing that Xia Ling and Li Lei had left, the crowd turned towards Gu Lin. Some of the men were starting to eye her front… not bad at all, she got the real thing.

Gu Lin hurriedly shielded her front with both arms. “What’s there to look at!” She roared at Qian Yong. “Help me up, quick!”

A group of men looked toward him with sympathy and envy as he helped Big Miss Gu out of the pool.

“Can’t you see that I’m cold! Get me something to wrap myself in!” Big Miss Gu was in a horrible mood.

What was there to wrap her in? Wasn’t the blanket taken away by Sister Mai Na as well? Qian Yong looked at Sister Mai Na with pleading eyes, as if asking, Can I borrow it?

Sister Mai Na gave a cold smile and rejected him gloatingly.

Qian Yong was desperate for a solution and had no other option but to do what Big Boss Li had done — remove his own jacket.

“Who cares for your damned jacket! It’s not even fit for me to dry my feet on!” Gu Lin continued growling at him. What was Qian Yong thinking, how could he compare himself to her Brother Lei? He clearly did not know his place!

Big Miss Gu could not care less anymore. She covered her front and dashed through the crowd.
