The End (3)

Perhaps she was also a madwoman, not as clean and pure as others claimed. Perhaps the reason he fell in love with her was simply that she happened to meet him at a time when he needed someone’s care the most. In this moment, her emotions also crumbled, and she wanted to embrace him.

In this relationship, she might not want to admit it, but when she lacked a sense of security, she would have many dark thoughts. There were times when she felt delighted by his deep affection, believing that he might love her more, thinking that he had fallen deeper, and imagining that if there truly came a day of separation, she would be the one to find relief the quickest. She truly liked him, but she hadn’t realized until now that she couldn’t bear to lose him.

In a way, they were actually similar. Two solitary, sick individuals embracing each other for warmth in the cold winter, craving the warmth emanating from each other while grappling with self-loathing and physical repulsion.

They were each other’s remedy.

The only antidote in this world.

Xie Xinglin propped his arm next to her body, looking down at her with steady eyes. Waves surged within his dark eyes shaded from the light. Moonlight, tainted by the white snow, shone from behind him, making his gentle and enchanting features appear even more radiant. Then, he reached out his hand, using his palm to touch her cheek, and his fingertips gently brushed across her face like a feather. After a while, he spoke in a restrained and patient tone, “I love you too.”

His palm exuded a dry heat, his intense gaze fixated on her, as if he could ignite her entire being. She looked up at him. In his eyes, her appearance resembled a pitiful deity. The divine presence smiled tenderly.

Xinglin clenched his hand, causing his brows and eyes to appear deeply melancholic, as if suppressing intense emotions.

The divine being, so pure and holy, said they could be together.

He lowered his gaze and looked at her, calmly saying, “Let’s never be apart again, okay?”

At that moment, a dark gleam flickered in his eyes, even appearing somewhat sickly. The sound waves flowed into her ears, his voice deep and seductive, quickening the heartbeat in the silent night. It made her breath become more erratic, her chest rising and falling violently. She closed her eyes, then tilted her head back, holding onto him and placing a kiss on his jawline.

It was like the best catalyst and the best response, instantly igniting and detonating the emotions that had been suppressed within him for a long time.

In that fleeting moment, his expression turned terrifyingly dark, and his fingertips brushed against her lips.

The soft and warm sensation on her lips spread throughout her body, although he was the one in the dominant position at this moment. He felt like a cheetah pouncing on an exhausted and struggling deer that had been chased for a long time, ready to tear apart and consume her flesh and blood.

Yet, he felt like he was losing his mind. About to present his neck for slaughter beneath the hooves of this gentle deer.

Her appearance, as if ready to be plucked, intensely stimulated his nerves, burning away his rationality. His originally slender and cold eyes took on a vivid red, filled with restrained pain.

Perhaps madness and clarity were separated by just a door, securely locked. She was the one holding the key, in control of everything.

As he lowered his gaze, she slightly propped herself up, rising to her feet and tilting her head to meet his lips. Her complexion was rosy, her lips as beautiful as a rose, and his gaze couldn’t help but fixate on them. Then, he paused for a moment, before following his instincts and kissing her.

After the initial gentleness and exploration, what followed was his usual dominance and possession. Yet, she continued to gaze at him tenderly. Despite appearing to be in a vulnerable position, she felt an extraordinary sense of security.

In her presence, he always struggled to maintain his composure. Although he could still maintain a calm expression on his face at this moment, in his heart, he was no different from a madman.

He stared at her, his eyes glowing ominously in the darkness. He lowered his head to meet her gaze, her eyes misted with a layer of water. Under her gaze, an electric current spread through his limbs, his heartbeat slightly tightening. His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, and then he covered her eyes with his hand.

Xie Xinglin continued to lower his head and kiss her. As he kissed her, he glanced at her face, which resembled peony petals.

Under the influence of alcohol, his actions became less gentle. He slightly tilted his head and loosened his bowtie, while the snow continued to fall outside.

Her hair was disheveled, partially covering her expression, and she couldn’t help but reach out to embrace him as he kissed her. His bowtie became loose, hanging askew on his neck, accentuating his collarbone. He looked incredibly sexy, with a pair of eyes that seemed to conceal surging emotions beneath his tousled bangs.

Everything he lacked was found in her. Only when he held her intimately like this could the emptiness in his heart be filled. Only then was he truly whole. He clung tightly to her like a hysterical madman, even lowering his gaze and staring at her intently, gripping her wrist firmly.

His mind was blank at this moment, yet also filled with intense desire. The divine being descended from the altar, willingly indulging in debauchery beneath him. Just the thought alone was driving him insane.

However, in the midst of their intertwined kisses, his hand came into contact with something cold on her hand. The icy sensation instantly sobered him up, and his crimson eyes drooped slightly. In the darkness, he saw clearly—a ring made of an aluminum can, slightly rusted, tightly embedded on her finger.

The contours of his body stiffened slightly, and his pupils contracted. Then, he stood still, motionless.

Sensing his sudden halt, she took a slight breath and looked up at him for a moment. Then, she sat up, cupping his stern jaw in her hands and planting kisses on his jawbone, attempting to kiss him again.

However, he remained unmoved, his gaze fixed on her with a dazed expression. She embraced his shoulders, somewhat puzzled, and asked, “What’s wrong?”

He stared at her for a while, then picked up his coat from the ground and draped it over her. Following that, he held her hand and brushed his fingertips against the pull tab of the aluminum can ring, his gaze lowered, lost in thought. Outside, the snow continued to fall, casting a snowy white hue on the floor-to-ceiling windows.
