Although this kid he rescued didn’t bring him the more convenient strength ability, Yan Mo considered that he did give him a total of 106 points deduction. He didn’t feel that the kid was that annoying anymore.

Since his communication ability can only work one-way right now, he simply pretended he can’t understand the little boy. He decided to hide the fact that he had awakened a universal communication ability for the time being.

He didn’t plan on letting other people know about it. At least not until he knew everything there was to know about his ability.

Call him overcautious, but his past life had taught him that there were times when keeping one or two cards on his sleeves can save his life.

That’s why even though he understood the kid’s words, he pretended he didn’t.

The kid was probably thirsty from swallowing salt water then eating meat. He looked at the bit of snow left on the stone pot, peeked at the people in the room, then stuffed some snow into his mouth. He thought that no one saw him.

Yan Mo took back his glance from the little kid and didn’t say anything. He was thinking about how to start communicating with this kid.

The kid wasn’t frozen stiff because the rescue was timely. Yan Mo was quick to administer the treatment, and now his body was starting to warm up. Having eaten and drank, he naturally seemed more spirited.

Communicating with the little kid was a long and arduous process. Fortunately Yan Mo had a kid before, he had his own way to let little kids feel at ease and had the patience to deal with them. Moreover, he could cheat with his ability and knew what the kid was saying. He slowly started connecting with the kid.

At the very least, he finally knew the kid’s name.

The kid knew that Yan Mo was the one who saved him and grew attached to him, like a little chick imprinting on their kin. He was clearly scared of Yuan Zhan and Meng and would only get close to Yan Mo.

The little kid was A’wu. He actually didn’t have a name, it’s just that he kept saying ‘A’wu’ over and over. A’wu seemed to be his tribe’s name. He said that he’s from the A’wu clan, and they lived in the middle of a big grassland. There are a lot of people in his tribe and now that it’s winter, everyone was getting hungry. Priest-daren said they will send some slaves to the mountain god Jiu Feng, in exchange for some salt and food. Looks like he didn’t know what to say other than these.

No one could tell what Yuan Zhan’s thinking as he stared at the little boy from where he’s bathing.

The little boy looked over, saw that Yuan Zhan was being boiled, and screamed fearfully. He suddenly paled. He might’ve escaped from the house already if Yan Mo wasn’t holding him in his lap.

This poor kid had always been scared. He was afraid once he had eaten and drank, those two big men who smell like blood will boil him and eat him… and look, they’re really boiling humans, and they’re boiling him alive!

“Ah ala, walaa!” Don’t eat me! Please don’t eat me!

Yan Mo felt his patience evaporating with the kid’s screaming and crying. He hated kids who never stop screaming the most. His family’s Dudu was always very good and sensible, he rarely cried or screamed once he could understand words.

Yan Mo glanced at the two bastards in the room. They didn’t look like they’re good with children, so in the end he had to do it himself. He hugged the little kid and patted his back, letting the kid calm down.

The little kid’s hands gathered around Yan Mo’s neck, he was still crying and sobbing.

Meng laughed out loud at the little boy’s reaction, “This little cub must’ve thought we are going to cook him.”

“Stop crying! Cry again and we’ll crack open your brain and eat you!” Meng put on a scary face and roared at the kid. He really got the kid to stop crying, the little kid got too scared to cry.

Meng smiled proudly at his success, “You just need to do that with little cubs like him.”

Yan Mo: “……” Really want to give you scum points.

Yuan Zhan watched the young man working hard to comfort the little kid even with their different languages. Traces of doubt coloured his eyes.

The teen was obviously only a dozen something years old, but Yuan Zhan felt that this person was more complicated than the old priest Qiu Shi. Yuan Zhan would sometimes catch him with expressions that didn’t belong to a child his age. It made him feel that this guy had experienced many, many things in life.

Can receiving the ancient god’s inheritance in a dream make someone lose all their childlike traits?

Yuan Zhan had never even seen him letting out a genuinely happy smile. Even though he now had enough to eat, slept warmly and had awakened his blood ability at his very young age.

He always felt that the little slave still had many secrets he’s keeping from them. And he, without realising it, now craved to know all about the little slave.

He didn’t like the young man hiding anything from him.

But it’s alright. Yuan Zhan had decided, sooner or later, he’d pry all of the little slave’s secrets out!

“Don’t take care of the kid anymore. If you ignore him he’ll quiet down quickly.” The young man patted the water vat’s edge and called Yan Mo. “You come over. Tell me, how much longer until I recover?”

He felt that his body was already good enough, his leg also felt better now. These two days he didn’t feel that unbearable sore ache anymore when he ran around outside.

Yan Mo had said that aside from the effective treatment, he recovered well due to the upgrade. The younger teen had also said that there’s a possibility that the physical quality and immunity from illness will become stronger after each upgrade. His body will work on its own to remove the hidden danger. Yan Mo said a lot, Yuan Zhan didn’t understand most of them.

He only caught one important point, that upgrading will make the body become even stronger and he will get less injuries and illness the stronger his body is.

He must upgrade to level four, level five, and even higher.

Not to go to the three cities, but to build his own tribe! Protect his priest!

Powerful priests will not let his tribe be led by a weak chief. The little slave is so powerful, if he can’t get even stronger, what will Yuan Zhan do when Yanshan people come for him in the future? What if he leaves to become their priest?

No one can take his slave from him, let alone take away his priest!

Yanmo is his! He’ll kill anyone who dares to steal Yanmo from him!

A vicious smirk appeared on the young face marred with long scars and creepy tattoos.

The unlucky little kid lifted his eyes at this moment and caught that instant of ruthlessness. He trembled, so scared that he peed himself.

Yan Mo was about to get up and walk over to Yuan Zhan when he felt something. He lowered his head to find a puddle of warm pee…… he felt like murdering someone.

Probably feeling the murder intent rising from Yan Mo, the little kid quietly climbed down from him and went to the corner and crouched down. He was still whimpering soundlessly while hugging himself into a ball.

Yan Mo glanced at the kid who was trembling from fear, then at Yuan Zhan, who was grinning broadly. He wordlessly changed where he’s going and approached the kid instead.

While walking over, he hypnotised himself: Scum points… scum points… Everything is to reduce more scum points!

Dammit! He really wanted to whip these two big and one small!

What gave him a small consolation was when he checked his scum points standing at night. He found out that he finally got 1000 points reduced and reached the condition to unlock the third section of the guide.

Before, he had saved the two from Jiu Feng’s claws. Maybe the situation was not that serious, the guide only gave him -50 points per person. It was in total -100 points because there’s two of them.

This time, he saved the little kid and got a full -100 points.

The rest are from various smaller rewards like house construction, identification of medicinal herbs and forests, identification of edible matter, identification of the red salt and teaching others how to extract and refine it, as well as teaching others about the first aid for people who have fainted in cold. These items gave him -56 points.

One point stood out from the rest, he treated Yuan Zhan who fell into a coma from overexertion and also regulated his body. The guide deducted a full 100 points for this, and the reason was because he used a gentle method to help the world’s inhabitant successfully upgrade.

Strange. Does the guide support this act and hope that he could help the world’s inhabitants to upgrade?

Why was this?

Yan Mo thought, but the most probable reason he could think of is: the guide wanted the creatures of the world to develop their abilities as much as possible, and not relying on the planet’s resources to keep living on or fighting each other. This continuous consumption will lead to the destruction of the world.

He set aside this guess and didn’t think about it again. The thing he was most interested in right now was the third reward from the guide.

—— Congratulations Exile for accumulating more than -1000 scum points. The current total of scum points reduction is 1006 points. In order to reward the Exile’s initiative to reform and to help the Exile’s reformation, now unlocking reward: One set of surgical tools. The set includes surgical scalpel, scissors, tweezers and homeostatic clamps. Please receive the item in this guide’s reward section.

Please note: The guide will not provide another set in case of loss. Please use the reward well, use it frequently, in order to regain a righteous mind as soon as possible.

Yan Mo whooped when he read ‘surgical tools’ and flopped over loudly under Jiu Feng’s wing.

Jiu Feng’s eyes flashed open. “Gruuru, rruuru.” Scared my feathers off! Why did you yell when there’s nothing?

Unhappy at being awakened, Jiu Feng lightly pecked at the boy’s head.

Light, for Jiu Feng. Yan Mo immediately sobered up and covered his head with his hands. “Be gentler ah, old bird. I’m already bald thanks to your pecking!”

“Grruru.” Be good, sleep! If you keep making noise, you can’t go into that bad stone cave tomorrow.

“Okay, okay, okay. I’m going to sleep soon.” But how could the overexcited Yan Mo fall asleep now? He only endured for a while before he fumbled around for the guide and quietly took out the surgery tools. He slowly ran his fingers over the tools one by one.

The material for these tools was rather strange, it didn’t seem to be metal. Yan Mo didn’t mind though. He tried it out, feeling the weight and sharpness, how it fit in his hand. He was more than satisfied by this reward.

If he can’t get close to the target, he can only hold onto the golden needle as an insurance. Scalpels were an entirely different story. He had also been young and stupid, back then, he had practised using scalpels as flying daggers. Although he didn’t get to the level of becoming Master Xiao Yan Flying Dagger, he could still hit a motionless target.

With this scalpel in my hand, the world is within my grasp. Hahaha!

“Gururu, ruruu.” What are you playing with there? The bird looked down and moved to take the scalpel with his beak.

Yan Mo was startled and quickly returned the scalpel to the guide’s reward section. His heart will bleed if he ends up losing or breaking this thing!

Keeh? Nothing’s there? Jiu Feng didn’t want to sleep anymore. He kept staring at the young man’s palm. It’s too bad that his night vision was not as good as in daylight and the cave was quite dark. If it wasn’t because he caught a gleam of light from the little guy’s hand, he wouldn’t even notice the little two-legs had something in his hand.

Yan Mo quickly put his hand on Jiu Feng’s head and rubbed his head to pacify him. “It’s nothing. You saw wrong, go back to sleep ba.”

Right then, Jiu Feng’s human-like face changed to something hard to describe. It was like being caught by surprise, startled, and a slight joy.

“Keeih? Little two-legs, are you not a two-legged monster? Are you… one of my kind?”

“I’m not a two-legged monster, I’m Yan Mo. I’m not your kind either, I am human.” Yan Mo continued to stroke the bird’s head with a gentle smile.

Jiu Feng drooped down his head. He stuck his forehead on the teen’s forehead out of the blue and rubbed on his face, a happy-sounding croon came from his neck.

Yan Mo was surprised. What was Jiu Feng’s doing? Why was he so happy?

…No wait! Was Jiu Feng replying to him before? Did Jiu Feng understand his words?

“Jiu Feng?” Yan Mo had thrown away the scalpel to the back of his mind. He started to experiment, what did he do just now? He seemed to have put his hand on Jiu Feng’s head?

Jiu Feng tilted his head, “Keeh? Are you calling me?”

Yes! Yan Mo fisted his hand inwardly, while still stroking Jiu Feng’s head. “Yes, I’m calling you. ‘Jiu Feng’, do you like this name?”

“Gruruu, rruru. Name?”

“That’s right, name. Me, Yan Mo. You, Jiu Feng.”

“Chieerp?”

“You didn’t understand? I am Yan Mo. I’m not a two-legged monster, I’m —fuck!” Yan Mo felt something wrong and brushed over his nose. Looking down, he saw red on his finger.

Nosebleed was only the beginning. Soon, he felt a sharp pain from his third-eye, it quickly enveloped his brain. Yan Mo clutched his head.

“Eargh! Aaagh!!!!!!”

“Keeh! Chieerp, cheeip!!” Jiu Feng didn’t understand what happened to the little two-legs. They were just talking, and then little two-legs looked like he’s dying.

Yan Mo passed out from the pain.

Jiu Feng got worried and jumped up. He called Yan Mo several times and tried poking him.

Yan Mo still didn’t respond. Jiu Feng panicked. He shot out of his secure nest without delay, despite it still being dark outside.

He finally found his same kind, even though he didn’t have wings and feathers, he can talk with Jiu Feng. Jiu Feng doesn’t want him to die!

“Chieeerk—!” A shrill bird cry pierced through the otherwise quiet night.

Yuan Zhan was sleeping like the dead but when he heard the sound he jerked up, wide awake, and rushed to the window to see what happened.

Meng also opened his eyes on alert, leaped up on his feet soundlessly and quietly walked to Yuan Zhan. “What is it? I think I heard the mountain god’s cry, why did he fly out in the night?”

Little kid A’wu was deeply asleep on an animal skin in one corner, he didn’t seem to have awakened at all.

Yuan Zhan lifted open the animal skin and took out the wood they put there to block the wind. He stretched his head out of the window and searched the sky, but Jiu Feng was nowhere to be seen.

“What’s wrong?” Meng also came up and stuck his head out of the window.

Yuan Zhan took back his gaze from the sky, thinking it over, his expression quickly sank. “I think… something happened to Yanmo.”
