The Beast Deity rubbed his own nose. "Alright. I will tell the truth."

The Beast Deity sighed in exasperation. "You have essentially become the master of the bird tribes after you took the Love of the Sky. The bird tribes will instinctively want to follow you—but over the past thousand years, no bird tribe has left the Motou mountains. They will definitely be extremely fretful upon leaving the mountains. Therefore, I thought that if you permit Gregory to join your family, it will give the bird tribes a sense of security and belonging. At the very least, it will lessen their anxieties. Meanwhile, Gregory can use his 'partner of the Messenger of the Beast Deity' status to try and smooth over the relationship between the bird tribes and the land beasts. Of the land beasts, only the foxes and wolves have Beast Kings—and one of them is your partner, while the other… ha, he will be replaced by your partner very soon anyway. Becoming a member of a family with these two Beast Kings will make most things more open to negotiation."

Gu Mengmeng stared at the Beast Deity, half-believing and half-doubting. "That's all?"

Gu Mengmeng dragged out her question in obvious disbelief.

The Beast Deity cleared his throat. "Not exactly. There's another reason which I can't tell you for the time being… but you must trust that I am your father and will never do anything to harm you."

Gu Mengmeng looked very reluctant. "I already feel very bad about taking advantage of Gregory's fondness of me to force him to bring me up the Motou mountains. Now you want me to make use of him again, and this time for the rest of his life, even though I know it will be a one-sided affair… Daddy, are you really fine with teaching your daughter to be such a heartless bitch?"

The Beast Deity stiffened his neck. "Who said my daughter is a heartless bitch? Humph, they must have never experienced the rage of the Beast Deity before?!"

Gu Mengmeng shook her head. "I believe that marriage alliances are not the only way to establish peaceful links between two races."

The Beast World tugged at Gu Mengmeng's hand. "But it is the most effective way. One, the bird tribes would have a place for them after descending the mountains. Second, you have not taken in anyone new for the past four years. There are already rumors swirling around the Beast World about Elvis' and Lea's tyranny. Many males have already started to copy their ways. Didn't you personally witness that last year at the end of winter? The fire fox belonging to Saint Nazaire's Leanna was plotting against the family's first partner. You managed to discover his plan and stop him that time, but what about next time? Once this notion starts to spread, how many times can you uncover and stop such behavior? By the time the winds of the Beast World change direction, it will be too late for you try and salvage things then. I am not saying you must mate with Gregory. Just treat it like you are hiring a new family servant. Is that so impossible?"

"Well…" She had no problem hiring a servant, but whose servant had a service contract that was for a lifetime? Even those who sold themselves into households as servants in the ancient times could still marry and have families of their own. But in the Beast World, once this "servant" was taken in, it was as good as branding him with Gu Mengmeng's mark. He would have to stick by her side for the rest of his life. Wouldn't she be harming him…

The Beast Deity didn't force Gu Mengmeng to make her decision immediately. He patted the back of her hand and said, "There is still some time before the drought season arrives so there's no need to come to a decision right now. Go back and discuss this with your fox and ask Gregory for his own opinion. Perhaps he is more than willing to be your bodyguard and servant for the rest of his life?"

Gu Mengmeng didn't respond but changed the topic. "Daddy, I have another matter to ask you."
