Demons Beside You

chapter-367
“Yes, it’s him,” Faur nodded.
Kathiri looked at Tim Waltz, confused. “Mr. Tim, do you know him?”
“Yes, Mr. Chen is the person I admire the most. To me, he’s the best doctor. Actually, I bought Chantilly Hospital in the hope that he could become the vice president here,” Tim Waltz said, looking at Kathiri.
He had deliberately told Kathiri so, hoping that he could understand the situation. If Kathiri still allowed the conflict to continue, the vice president would become president.
As a mature and smart man, Kathiri clearly understood what Tim meant.“Mr. Tim, since you approve of him, he must be an outstanding doctor, which means Faur wasn’t wrong… But Faur, the next time you make any decision, do talk to Anse first lest there is another unnecessary misunderstanding.”
Kathiri was already planning to end the conflict, but Anse Ronan clearly did not get his intent.
“Then what’s Mr. Chen’s specialty? Where has he worked at? Does he have any contributions? Has he published any papers?”
“He’s a TCM professor at UCLA,” Faur answered. It was Chen Zhao’s only appropriate identity.
“But I still don’t think that his treatment has any effects on my patient. Now I really suspect UCLA medical school’s professionalism.”
Kathiri was really astonished. Anse was too brave.
Does your family know that you speak like this?If the people from UCLA hear your words, they’ll actually dig your ancestors’ graves, you know?
Kathiri even forgot that someone in this very office had graduated from UCLA medical school.
Faur’s hair stood up in anger. “Mr. Anse, do you dare to be responsible for your words?”
Everyone had feelings for his or her alma mater. Humiliating Faur’s alma mater and questioning its professionalism before her had turned her into an irreconcilable enemy.
“How can a person who performed acupuncture on a patient’s head before a thorough check-up be a college’s medicine professor?”
“How do you know that he didn’t perform a thorough check-up? Do you think that a thorough check-up can only be achieved by a precise machine? Do you think that the only correct data are the ones produced by a machine?”
“Of course,” Anse replied confidently.
“If a machine judges a person as being dead, must it be accurate?”
“Although that’s not guaranteed, it’s definitely more accurate than a person’s judgment.”
Faur looked at Tim Waltz. Tim finally said, “Dr. Anse, now I start to suspect your professionalism.”
“Mr. Tim, did I say something wrong?”
“Not long ago, my son was pronounced dead by a machine. His EEG and ECG readings were all zero, but a person insisted that my son wasn’t dead. He saved my son from the hands of Death and completed a surgery that four doctors could not,” Tim Waltz said.
“Is that person Mr. Chen?” Anse was surprised.
He originally thought that Chen Zhao was only a fraudulent amateur and did not expect him to actually be a doctor.
Of course, Anse still upheld his view.
“So he’s a cardiology expert. Why did he treat a neurology patient?”
“Why can’t a cardiology expert be a neurology expert?”
“I don’t think that there’s a more professional neurosurgeon in this hospital than me. More importantly, I don’t think that TCM and acupuncture have any effects on my patient.”
“That’s why you’re so narrow-minded,” Faur said in response.
“Alright, you two stop arguing. Dr. Faur, since you think that Mr. Chen can heal Anse’s patient, can you invite him here?”
“I didn’t say that he can definitely heal the patient… Anse’s patient is in a vegetative state.”
Vegetative state? Kathiri was surprised. After arguing for so long, he discovered that the patient was actually in a vegetative state.
It was not a condition that could be actively cured by modern medicine.
What’s there to argue about?
“So all you’ve just said are based on something uncertain?”
“Just like how Dr. Anse couldn’t wake the patient, I’ve never promised that my friend definitely can.”
“Alright, this thing’s over. I believe that Dr. Faur and Mr. Chen have no evil intentions. They were just trying to help the patient out of goodwill.” Kathiri could only try to reconcile the group and end the argument quickly.
Anse still wanted to say something, but Kathiri immediately waved his hand and stopped him. If the conflict were to continue, something unexpected might happen.
Chen Zhao had saved Tim’s son’s life. Even if Anse was correct, could they even send Chen Zhao to the police station?
“Go out now.”
Just then, someone stuck his head into the room. “Faur, are you busy? I need to speak to you.”
Everyone looked at the person outside the door. Anse immediately pointed at Chen Zhao. “You’re the person whom Faur brought here to treat my patient randomly, right?”
“Huh?” Chen Zhao did not expect this to be exposed.
Were they in the middle of an argument?
Shit, I didn’t come at the right time.
“Chen… why are you here?”
“Err… the nurse told me that you’re here…”
“Answer me, why did you perform acupuncture on my patient? Do you know that your action can be very dangerous for the patient?” Anse roared and pointed at Chen Zhao as if he had the goods on Chen Zhao.
“Err… treatment, of course. Or else? You think I was trying to kill him?”
“Who are you to interfere with my patient?”
“I can wake him up.”
“Ridiculous! He’s been in a coma for five years. From his EEG, he has almost no brain activities. There is no sign of him waking up.”
“You can’t do it, doesn’t mean others can’t. The data obtained with your machines might not reflect the patient’s full condition,” Chen Zhao said.
“So you’re saying you can wake the patient up?”
“I can, but because he’s been in a coma for too long, he’ll probably lose some of his memory.” Chen Zhao looked at Suma. “Ms. Suma, are you sure that you want me to wake your father up?”
“Can you really wake him up?”
