chapter-458

Back in the beast world, Zhang Che woke up and had a simple breakfast. Afterwards, he summoned all his capable subdued beasts and pets, raised his arms, and yelled out, “Get to work, everyone!”
Although he had reached the edge of his destination yesterday, it was already too late by the time he arrived. Zhang Che didn’t risk hunting any exotic beasts at night. Instead, he rested for the whole night and waited until it was morning before officially starting work.
“Alright, Master. We’ll be changing locations after we’re done here, yes?” the elemental queen asked in anticipation.
It went without saying that she wasn’t really passionate about helping Zhang Che hunt down the exotic beasts. Instead, she wanted to kill all the mid-tier or higher exotic beasts in this area as soon as possible and they’d have to head to their next location. On their way there, she’d be able to watch another movie, or two or three drama episodes!Naturally Zhang Che could tell what she was thinking. He nodded and said expressionlessly, “That’s right. Work hard if you want to watch television!”
Done talking, he waved his hand and flew off on the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon.
—
It went as usual. Zhang Che and the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon would form a team, the elemental queen had a team of her own, and so did the Scarlet Flame Drake, and the Earthen Rock Demon. They were split into a total of four teams, sweeping through the area with devastating strength.
Every team had epic-quality level combat force among them, ensuring they’d be able to hunt down more exotic beasts in the shortest time possible, greatly increasing their efficiency.
Of course, this was only a tactic that could be used while hunting exotic beasts. After sweeping through the area, Zhang Che could only rely on the frisky monkey for the herb gathering operation that followed, flying across the whole area from top to bottom.
Fortunately, the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon’s flight was close to Mach 2 speed, greatly reducing the time needed to fly about, not wasting too much of Zhang Che’s time. The four teams rushed out in a grand manner, slaughtering everything in their path. The exotic beasts in this area were in for a bad time.
Zhang Che wasn’t worried that any one of his teams would encounter an exotic beast so powerful they couldn’t win against it. After all, given each team’s strength, there wouldn’t be any danger as long as the exotic beasts they encountered weren’t at divine-quality.
Of course, if they were really unlucky enough to encounter a divine-quality exotic beast, they wouldn’t be able to claim victory even if Zhang Che gathered all his forces in one place.
“Hmm, there shouldn’t be any divine-quality exotic beasts here. After all, father-in-law’s men investigated the area very clearly before passing on the information to me. Even if there are any divine-quality exotic beasts that love wandering around, it should be impossible for me to bump into them…”
——-
As Zhang Che began his massacre of mid-tier and higher exotic beasts in the beast world, Huang Tielan was taking the official intermediate beast card cultivator examination at Bei Du University.
After checking on Huang Tielan’s homework, Sun Qilong could only admit, much to his gratification, that this freshman indeed had the skills to take the exam to become an intermediate beast card cultivator.
So, why continue stopping her?
—
The intermediate beast card cultivator examination was split into two parts.
First, the examinee’s knowledge and understanding of the system would be tested. After all, there was no need for the examination to go on if the examinee didn’t even have a solid foundation in the basic knowledge of the field.
Next was naturally a test on their practical operations.
Bei Du University’s Beast Card Cultivation major was one of the top courses in all of Hua Xia in the field. Several of the teachers in the course were members of the Beast Card Cultivators Association, notably Sun Qilong, who was the vice president of the association!
As such, Huang Tielan didn’t have to go to the beast card cultivators association, she could take the examination in school directly. As Huang Tielan’s teacher, naturally Sun Qilong couldn’t preside over the examination. The examining officers consisted of a few other teachers, as well as a member of the association.
After all, although Bei Du University could host the examination, in order to prevent any unwanted controversies, another member of the association was required to come oversee it.
The first portion of the assessment officially started. Huang Tielan was facing the few examiners in front of her, not showing any signs of nervousness. She firmly believed she could become an intermediate beast card cultivator. How could she be held down by a little test on her knowledge?
To paint a better picture, Huang Tielan didn’t only study all of the professional knowledge taught during the freshman year. She had also studied much of the knowledge taught in the next three years on her own.
Speaking of her library of knowledge alone, Huang Tielan could totally handle the examination for intermediate beast card cultivators!
The truth was just so. Although the invigilators’ questions were very tricky during the exam, and had tested her on much obscure knowledge, Huang Tielan was basically able to answer them all, only making mistakes on two points.
The two mistakes weren’t very important knowledge, either. It was just that the knowledge was so minor, Huang Tielan hadn’t learned it before.
—–
An hour later, the theoretical and understanding portion of the examination was done. Huang Tielan passed with flying colors, getting ninety-five points, and could start on the practical portion of the test.
Due to time constraints, naturally the examiners wouldn’t let Huang Tielan concoct the cultivation fluid for a completely unfamiliar beast card. Even someone on the level of Professor Sun Qilong wouldn’t be able to research the recipe of an unfamiliar beast card in just a few hours.
Cultivating beast cards wasn’t something that could be done overnight to begin with!
The practical exam was separated into two parts. For the first part, the examiners would take out three different mid-tier beast cards and hand out a long list of ingredients. Huang Tielan was required to find as many ingredients needed for the three different beast cards as possible in an hour, and she’d be considered to have passed the test if her completion rate reached sixty percent.
That was undoubtedly something very difficult to do. Even though the examinee was informed of the three beast cards’ specific attributes beforehand, not even actual intermediate beast card cultivators could guarantee they’d be able to find the required ingredients for the three beast cards in an hour every time.
Fortunately, Huang Tielan had Zhang Che’s help, and had accumulated quite a bit of experience at this. An hour later, her completion rate in finding the ingredients for the beast cards had actually exceeded over seventy percent, easily passing the first part of the test!
—
The second part was naturally the actual practical operation.
Similarly, the examiners gave Huang Tielan a mid-tier beast card, in addition to all the required ingredients. However, she wasn’t given the detailed recipe.
This time, the test required Huang Tielan to finish concocting the cultivation fluid in four hours and successfully advance the beast card.
Although all the required ingredients were provided, it was very difficult to complete the task without the detailed recipe. In addition, the examiners only provided her with three sets of ingredients.
In other words, Huang Tielan only had three chances. If she used up all three tries and didn’t manage to advance the beast card, then she failed the test!
However, unbeknownst to the examiners, Huang Tielan had a wonderful cheat. That cheat was called Zhang Che. Her practical experience was totally not inferior to some official intermediate beast card cultivators at all. She only used two tries before she succeeded in concocting the cultivation fluid, in addition to advancing that four-star beast card to five-stars, dazzling the examiners.
It was truly too shocking. She was only a student who had enrolled into the course for a semester, and she had actually become a skilled intermediate beast card cultivator! How could anyone not be shocked?
“Congratulations, Huang Tielan! You are now officially an intermediate beast card cultivator! We will do the relevant documents for you within three days. You’ll just have to come collect them at the branch in your school!”
The examiners gave their congratulations to Huang Tielan, then started chatting with Professor Sun Qilong, who had been at the examination all this time, congratulating him for taking in a talented student and having someone to pass down everything to.
-Yay!- Huang Tielan cheered inside, picturing herself pumping her fist in the air. She thanked the examiners and Professor Sun Qilong.
-Zhang Xiaoche, I’m an intermediate beast card cultivator from today on! You have to work hard, too!-
