Divine Emperor of Death
chapter-2444

"Are you referring to the creator of this world?"

But unexpectedly, Davis's question got an answer as Saintess Lunaria's voice turned solemn at the mention.

"Yes." Davis heaved a heavy breath.

He had also seen signs of this world being created or perhaps modified, so that description also fit.

"I've only met that existence a single time, and even then, I was unable to look at their figure as it was covered by a bright luminance. My memories of that moment remain vague but nostalgic. I could never forget that time I was faced with death because I changed the course of the world, even changing its name to the First Haven World, a safe haven for us Divergents."

"However, I don't dare guarantee it's a safe haven for Anarchic Divergents. Divergents and Anarchic Divergents couldn't be spoken at the same length. One is just scorned and mostly ignored unless disturbed while the other is detested to the death."

"In the Aurora Cloud Gate's three million years of history, there were only two Anarchic Divergents who had joined it. One of them ascended to the immortal world, and the other one almost brought an end to this world. What do you think you will become?"

Davis was intrigued, but he didn't hesitate to answer.

"The former."

Hearing his words, Saintess Lunaria's body shook as though she held a peal of laughter back.

"Your determination is clear, but only fate can determine what you will become. The Anarchic Divergent that almost brought the end of the world is a woman, and she was the most cheerful disciple I ever had. She will never commit a crime, much less commit a slaughter."

"Unfortunately, even as she chose to live in seclusion with her loved one… the Azure Dragon's descendants killed her husband during a cultivation discussion competition, and unable to take the pain from hearing the sad news, she went out and destroyed the Azure Dragon Gate and slaughtered the hundreds of thousands of immortals who came to stop her before ending her own life."

"The result caused hundreds of powers to fall, some innocent, some clearly involved. It didn't matter as she almost destroyed the world's major powers, including me, before regaining her heart that had fallen to a heart demon. In other words, the world would've truly fallen to her unreasonable slaughter if she didn't regain herself."

Davis was shocked at this information as it was like him and Evelynn.

The loss of a loved one would drive them crazy if it really were to happen, but he was aware that he could end up like this Anarchic Divergent if things went south. He understood that there were extreme chances of him encountering tragic scenarios even if he were to live a secluded life.

At that moment, the urge for power swelled within his heart, "What about the other Anarchic Divergent who ascended?"

"Him? Who knows what happened to him? He was the most disobedient out of all my disciples. Perhaps, he was reluctant and unwilling to lead a secluded life after learning from his senior sister's life. Whatever decision he took, I could only support him."

'So Saintess Lunaria prefers to lead a secluded life?'

Davis blinked as he thought to himself before asking in an indirect manner, "So the Azure Dragon who exchanged the peace covenant with you is no longer here?"

"That would be the case unless someone found an orthodox way to re-enter the First Haven World from the Immortal World. However, his descendants are still present."

"Ascending means an eternal departure…?" Davis's expression fell.

He couldn't help but remember Claire and Logan, Diana and the others. Their smiles flashed past his face, causing him to feel homesick.

"There is deep hesitance in your face and forlorn emotions in your heart." Saintess Lunaria's voice gently echoed, "Moreover, with how you care for your significant… others, I doubt that you could be the 'former' you want to be."

Davis was taken aback before he chuckled wryly, "So you're just going to kill me to get rid of the future threat?"

"Hardly." Saintess Lunaria giggled, "Instead, I should hope that I don't get killed by you over a slight."

"…"

'So Saintess Lunaria also thinks Fallen Heaven can kill her at this stage….'

Davis realized that no one knew the changes Fallen Heaven had gone through over the years. It had changed after becoming tied to his soul, and its powers were restricted to his level. When judged by their words, he could tell that it had been a peerless treasure.

But for some reason, it stuck to him. Perhaps, was he a catalyst of some kind for its ultimate growth?

Just imagining it couldn't help but make him shiver.

"Since you called me senior, I'll give you a word of advice. If you used it on an Immortal Emperor existence, expect a severe backlash to appear in the form of ten thousand calamities designed by the invisible laws of the cosmos to eradicate you and the other parties that have benefited from you. If you wish to make progress and stay clear of greedy temptations as much as possible, I suggest that you abandon it as I did."

"Of course, you can use keep using it if you're thinking that I'm after it, but don't blame that I didn't warn you, junior."

Saintess Lunaria's voice turned solemn, causing Davis's brows to twitch.

It was his first time having his thoughts laid out clearly in the open and given a reply without missing a beat. He was given a taste of his own medicine, to say the least.

"Now then, I wanted to see you since you were so special, but after seeing you, I understand. You've managed to come far with this treasure, so I trust you know what you're dealing with. You can leave now."

"Wait…" Davis raised his hand, his lips curving into an awkward smile.

"About Myria… has she truly become your disciple?"

"Ahaha~"

A beautiful string of laughter echoed, stunning Davis as his body reacted strangely.

"Ah~ My apologies. I didn't mean to stimulate you. However, there's a slight misunderstanding going on, I see."

"Myria is indeed my disciple, but she made it clear to me that I am superior in my knowledge of Life Laws but immensely lacking in other knowledge. It can't be helped. She cited that she was a reincarnated individual from the immortal world, after all. I stressed that we share a senior sister and junior sister relationship in respect to her knowledge, but she was adamant about using my name to make it easier for her to traverse the First Haven World."

"Since both of us benefit from each other, I accepted her as my disciple."

"…" Davis went speechless. It took him a while to voice something out, "Even someone as strong and erudite as you lost to Myria in terms of knowledge? That makes me want to sleep. Is there no end to the amount of information one can learn?"

"No." Saintess Lunaria's elegant peal of laughter echoed, "I'm still learning as much as I can. Besides, it's not like disciple Myria will know what I know about the First Haven World. Who would dare to claim that they reached the apex even if they reached a summit? Aren't there other peaks in other locations?"

"Sigh…"

Davis shook his head, feeling a massive headache. However, he lightly smiled. He had people to rely on who were becoming powerful day by day.

Nonetheless, he didn't go too far with asking more questions, although he was curious about many more things. There was a limit to an expert's patience, especially when he was already told to take his leave.

Davis straightened his body and cupped his fists, "Senior, thank you for your kind words of advice. I'll try to take them to my heart. I won't take more of your precious time. But where can I meet Myria?"

"She's still in this palace. Head downstairs two floors, and you'll find her."

Saintess Lunaria looked down and caressed the fox with gentleness. Davis had the faintest illusion that she was caressing him before he shook his head again.

"Thanks again, senior. Till we meet again."

Davis slightly bowed his head and turned around, heading outside. The giant gates opened for him before they closed.

"Till we meet again?"

Saintess Lunaria's voice echoed out with some amusement, "I'm afraid that won't be possible. Right, Shimei?"

Only the cackling sound of a fox echoed in the giant chamber, lighting up the flowers with joy as they danced.

Outside, Davis approached Ellia, who came to grab his hand with some relief visible on her face.

"Did master do anything to you?"

Davis chuckled, "Nothing, although she did scare me out of my wits."

"I can feel that." Ellia nodded twice, "There's a mysterious aspect of her that's scary even though she's genial. That's the thing that worries me the most."

"Well, we can't gossip about your master while standing right outside her chamber. We're going to get kicked out if we keep this up, so let's go see your elder sister."

"Mhm~"

Ellia nodded. She also seemed to know the way as she led Davis to Myria.
