Divine Emperor of Death
-
chapter-2748
Since Davis had 'come out' of seclusion after making the palace tremble, everyone was already outside on the ground floor, discussing matters or playing things.
"By the way, what is darling doing with Myria this long?"
Natalya couldn't help but suddenly asked as she tapped her chin as though wondering deeply, causing the eyes of a few ladies to flicker before one of them turned to look at a white-robed woman.
"Ellia, it looks like your elder sister is going to be stolen from you."Fiora giggled.
"What are you talking about?" Ellia sulked as she pouted, causing the others to laugh, but she wanted to explain, "I'm sure they have many things to talk about as the ones who protect us.""Figures, but we just want to see how cute you are."
Shirley giggled, causing Ellia to lightly shake her head as she had already talked about this matter with Davis. She believed that he wouldn't be forceful or strain things with Myria.
At this moment, a violet-robed walked into the palace when she suddenly appeared in the center, causing many of them to react with a sense of danger as they quickly lined themselves up between Sophie, who held Aurelia, and even the other children, Eterna and Celestia as they were still poking Aurelia with their tiny hands.
However, they received word from Lereza that it was Myria who allowed her inside, causing them to relax slightly.
"Woah~ Calm down. I'm not here to do anything. In fact, I was invited."
Vereina raised her hands in surrender as she saw a bunch of tigresses look at her with wide eyes. She saw them relax slightly, causing her to heave a sigh of relief as well. However, she could understand their reaction, considering that their husband had just died, her gaze flickering as she looked at the dead body on the altar.
She didn't know the true reason she was called but imagined that it should be along the lines of defending each other as fellow Divergents. However, looking at Davis's corpse, a sense of anger arose within her, making her wonder who could murder him as she didn't believe the crap about him dying by cultivation deviation.*Whoosh~*
Following her, two people appeared. Yotan appeared in the palace, but this time, she didn't seem shaken or distressed as she remained calm. However, the person beside her, Threelotus, instantly teared up as she saw Davis's corpse.
However, before she could say anything, Yotan patted her shoulders and moved her lips, "It's fake."
"...!?"
Not only was Threelotus trembling, but Vereina was also shaken, turning to look at Yotan before once again gazing at Davis's corpse. They could still feel the remnant aura from his body, but it was lifeless and already starting to release the aura of decay that was common in corpses.
Could it be that he mastered this state? Entering death and able to revive at will?
A few seconds later, Zahara and Mystic Diviner Hailac also made it to this place, looking at Davis's corpse with eyes full of disbelief.
"What's going on? I've been receiving messages asking me if the Emperor of Death is truly dead. I haven't replied to any of them, though."
Mystic Diviner Hailac turned to look at Tia, who pursed her lips and smiled wryly, "What you perceive is necessarily not the truth."
"..."
The four newcomers were astonished at this scene. No, rather than astonished, they were floored by the dissonance between the group as his wives all possessed a smiling expressions as though they didn't mind Davis's corpse on the altar at all.
It was as though they were the ones who killed him, giving them the creeps.
*Tap~* *Tap~*
The sound of heavy footsteps could be heard at this moment, causing them all to turn their attention toward the stairs leading to the upper floors.
Descending the stairs was a purple-robed man that they were all familiar with, causing some of their eyes to go wide.
"You..."
Vereina confusedly pointed at him before turning to look toward the corpse on the altar. The others who were unaware also displayed a similar reaction, shocking them as they saw whom they doubted to be dead come alive with absolutely no injury whatsoever.
"W-What's happening? Is this some kind of cultivation?"
Mystic Diviner Hailac asked, her lips twitching as she also sensed that Davis's body on the altar was lacking vitality and radiating the aura of death, but it wasn't the aura he exuded, causing her to almost believe that he was dead. However, sensing his presence descending the stairs, she didn't know what was real anymore, wondering if Davis was engaged in cultivating Death Laws that she knew nothing about.
Indeed, the others also felt the same as they had rarely seen him comprehend Death Laws but still imagined that he was doing something crazy to be able to remain sane.
Was this how he was doing it? To be in a state of death in one body and remain alive in another? Was this his secret?
Their conjectures were derived on the spot without any foundation, but they were truly impressed by his ability regardless of how he was doing it.
Davis walked down the floor. However, his expression wasn't good, causing a few of them to remain nervous, especially Vereina, as she saw that he was heading toward her.
Within a few seconds, he was already in front of her, causing her to purse her lips in nervousness as his pressure was dense as though weighing upon her. Moreover, his widened eyes were also ferocious, causing her to take a step back as she felt that there was something off about him.
"What...?"
Davis came to a stop in front of Vereina. He stared at her for a few seconds before turning to look at his women.
"Sophie, take the children away."
"Yes~"
Sophie offered a voice of acknowledgment as she held Aurelia in her arms.
Turning around, she gestured for Eterna and Celestia to follow her, and the two little kids were visibly shaken by Davis's solemn expression and heavy voice that they had never heard before, causing them to huddle beside Sophie as they left with her but not without turning to look back every once in a while to see a scary version of their father.
Seeing them leave, Davis turned his attention to others, his gaze falling on each one of them as though wanting to see through them before he finally pointed at Vereina, panning his finger over all of them.
"Which one of you exposed Myria's status as a Divergent? Do you want to die?"
His voice echoed with a trace of threat as his killing intent erupted, causing the atmosphere to change and the hearts of everyone who was present to sink.
Many of them took a step back from being unable to endure while the woman with the lowest cultivation, Tia, was heaving, appearing like she was out of breath.
Instantly, an icy aura erupted, shielding everyone from Davis's overwhelming aura.
"What do you mean?" Tanya narrowed her brows, "Are you suggesting that there's a traitor among us?"
Her voice echoed with a sense of incredulity as though she couldn't believe what he was saying.
The others were also in disbelief but they were more shocked as they couldn't believe Davis directed his killing intent to everyone present here.
"Yes." Davis somberly replied before he directed his gaze at her, "You dare to raise your aura against me?"
"No... I..." Tanya was at a loss for words.
She had instinctively put up a forcefield since his aura held too much pressure for her sisters to bear, but with him asking like that, she felt guilt flood her heart.
"So now that you are strong, you finally have the audacity to think you can overturn what I'm doing?" Davis stared at her, "Good, very good."
"...!"
He enunciated twice, causing Tanya to shudder and become pale as though she received a death sentence, her aura falling.
"I never expected a traitor to appear in my family, but here we are, someone finally having made the stupid decision to sell out an ally for some reason, and I'm telling you all right now that I won't let you all leave without investigating it to the end. Now..."
"Line up!"
"...!!!"
Davis bellowed as his aura seethed with fury, causing many hearts to leap.
Instantly, from Natalya to Tia, everyone hurriedly moved and ended up making a line behind Evelynn, including Threelotus, Yotan, and Mystic Diviner Hailac. The only ones who didn't follow his words were Zahara and Vereina, but even they looked visibly shaken, wondering what was wrong with him as they had never seen him this angry.
"Clara, come here. I need your help with investigating everyone, starting with this woman who refuses to cooperate."
He raised his hand and gestured at Vereina with a somber voice, causing Clara, who was also standing in a line, to look at her brother as though she was looking at someone else, her eyes remaining confused yet hearing his softened voice that was addressed towards her, she pursed her lips and walked out.
"Just because I said that it's your little sister who's the traitor, you're really going to put everyone in a tough spot to prove me wrong? How biased can you be?"
However, just as she made her way to him, the sounds of footsteps could be heard again as a snickering voice abruptly echoed, causing everyone to recognize that it was Myria.
"..."
However, Clara came to a stop as she raised her head and stared at Myria, her eyes flickering as she turned to look around to see everyone staring at her. At that moment, she couldn't help but feel vilified and unwelcomed as gazes of doubt were cast at her, causing her fingers to unwittingly tremble.
