Divine Emperor of Death
chapter-2999

"You are…?"

Davis questioned.

The purple-robed man's topaz eyes flashed as though he was finally recognized. He took a step back and posed with his arms behind his back, his gaze high above the clear skies.

"I am Keith Siegknot, Guardian of the Construction Department that built the entire Aurora Cloud Gate. Pay respects to your elder!"

He kept looking up, waiting for a junior to cup his hands but lowering his gaze, he saw that he was missing. He gawked, turning to look aside as he saw the Void Dust Empress introduce him and Myria to the other Guardians, causing his lips to twitch.

"As you already know, this is Guardian Elysian Veritas of the Research Department, and she is his wife, Guardian Zera Nullheart of the Recruitment Department."

Guardian Zera Nullheart nodded with narrowed eyes as though she was still apologetic about it, while Guardian Elysian Veritas gave a light nod of calmness.

Davis also nodded back to them before he saw the Void Dust Empress gesture toward a white-robed man with a scholarly appearance.

"This is Ryheris Yilan, Guardian of the Administration Department."

Davis and Guardian Ryheris Yilan nodded at each other without speaking a word.

However, Davis knew better than to disrespect them as each of them exuded a special kind of aura, allowing him to know that they were masters of their Laws. He turned to look at Guardian Keith Siegknot and also nodded his head, causing the other party to nod smilingly.

'A bit childish… or just passionate…?' Davis wondered.

"Finally, this is…"

"Guardian Kalaxis Vain. I'm glad to be able to meet you again."

The Void Dust Empress continued, but Davis cupped his hands towards the black-robed man. The latter couldn't help but give an approving nod before shooting a momentary glance at Myria. He couldn't believe there were two existences of the same outlandish powers, causing him to sigh gently.

"This era is truly remarkable, one that has the implication of the world coming to an end."

"…"

Hearing Guardian Kalaxis Vain's words, the other Divergents couldn't help but look somber, their eyes even gleaming with a hint of sorrow.

"Sigh." Guardian Ryheris Yilan heaved a heavy breath, "The true immortal world enamored us for a long time, but we wouldn't be able to have the peace we have now there. However, this is and always was inevitable. It is no wonder our Saintess decided to leave. The earlier, the better…"

"…!?"

The Guardians didn't seem to be surprised, but Davis and Myria were quite taken aback. They looked at each other, noticing the ignorance in their gazes. However, they were more shocked by something else.

"Guardians…" Davis asked with some hesitation, "… will the First Haven World cease to exist after the Candidacy?"

"This… we don't know." Guardian Zera Nullheart shook her head.

"However, we believe that it is safer to think like that and prepare for it." Guardian Elysian Veritas added.

"…"

Davis didn't know what to say to that.

The Grand Beginnings Continent was obviously a part of the First Haven World as far as he knew, so if the First Haven World ceased to exist, then the Grand Beginnings Continent wouldn't exist either.

He wondered how his father, mother, and siblings were doing, especially his father, who swore to ascend since he still didn't know if he was still alive or not. Thinking about all this made Davis's heart feel heavy.

He had so many things to learn and do, but only ten years were allocated to him- no, everyone in the First Haven World. If the Grand Beginnings Continent ceased to exist, then everything he held dear might disappear out of his hands.

Clenching his teeth, he raised his lowered head.

"Is there any other place or realm we can move to?"

Guardian Elysian Veritas shook his head, "I have explored the First Haven World multiple times in my youth and even after I became a Guardian. I'm afraid I have to say that there isn't a way out other than ascension. However, there are some occasional outsiders who manage to get in here every once in a while, which we presume to be during the time of the World Ascension Ceremony, where this world's barrier or something similar weakens or loosens to allow the winners of the Immortal Ascension Ceremony to ascend."

"Perhaps, these outsiders also manage to leave as they simply go missing after they show up, but for that, we presume that there needs to be a spatial coordinate ready outside waiting for them to zoom away towards it. If we can make use of something like that, I think we should also be able to leave."

"Then-" Davis's gaze lit up with hope, but he was quickly interrupted.

"Well," Guardian Ryheris Yilan wryly smiled, "All we have are conjectures and no answers. Forgive these old fools for being useless."

The other Guardians also shook their heads, causing Davis's smile to recede before he firmly nodded his head.

"I understand. If there isn't a way, then I'll just find a way, whether it be may convincing this so-called world master or..."

Davis didn't say anything, but the Guardians were shocked as they saw his eyes flash with a murderous gaze.

"Junior disciple, you're too arrogant."

"Although we never met the master of this world and didn't know their intentions, you shouldn't carelessly assume these matters."

Guardian Kieth Siegknot and Guardian Elysian Veritas's expressions went solemn as they warned Davis, but he innocently jumped.

"Woah~ Guardians… even I'm not that foolish. I just meant that I'll slaughter my way out to become the most powerful that one day that even this world can't contain me..."

"Oh…"

The Guardians let out a sound of understanding, but did he really mean that…? They didn't know.

Nonetheless, Davis grinned as he couldn't help but feel that he was one of them. Talking about these matters surprisingly didn't invoke any karmic burden in him, perhaps because he was already in an environment where more profound issues were discussed.

However, he was also confused as it was said that Divergents don't come together as they were lone wolves. Two of them were even husband and wife. He wondered if this saying perhaps meant for Divergents who were unable to trust and have each other's back.

After all, he had learned that everything about the universe was about balance. At least, that was what he inferred from his little conversation with the Celestial Transcendent.

"…!"

But suddenly, his expression froze as he saw the Guardians all kneel over the place they stood.

Davis's muscles were stiff.

Were they kneeling to him? Obviously not!

Even without the Guardians saying anything, he knew that the only person who could evoke such respect in them was behind him.

'Saintess Lunaria...'

Davis inwardly grumbled, steeling his heart before turning to look behind.
