Divine Emperor of Death
-
chapter-3312
Davis stared at Ancestor Reselius Zenflame. His killing intent flared, causing the latter's gaze to flicker. However, Ancestor Reselius Zenflame still appeared unmoved as he turned around and walked toward the tunnel's exit into the mini-realm.
"Quick… You need to take the Legacy Artifacts and leave before everything collapses."
He uttered in a low voice, his voice sounding as though it was despondent. However, he stopped as he saw the Emperor of Death appear in front of him, reaching out his hand with a threatening gaze.
"Give me your spatial ring and life ring."
"…"Ancestor Reselius Zenflame was momentarily taken aback for a moment. However, he heaved a sigh and unbound his spatial ring and life ring, taking them off his fingers with elegance before sending them to Davis.
The two rings adorned with phoenix patterns flew towards Davis, causing the latter to unceremoniously snatch it with a wave of his hand.
Davis's soul sense flew into the rings and investigated the content.
It truly carried what would be befitting of a dictator, almost matching ten percent of what he gained in Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm. In fact, even the other Ancestors had quite a bit of wealth in addition to some peculiar High-Level Immortal Emperor Grade Armaments. These armaments were probably renowned, but he didn't even allow them the chance to use them with how quickly he killed them.
The life ring also contained a fire-attribute garden that spanned over thousands of kilometers like a massive farm.
At the same time, he saw some fresh, living meat in the form of avian-type magical beasts as well some unknown women in cells to enjoy the loneliness Ancestor Reselius Zenflame would endure when in hiding.
This irked him, but it had the essence of a spatial ring and life ring. These were not fakes as he initially doubted, confusing him.Would the person before him obediently admit defeat and reach out his neck for the enemy to cut it down effortlessly?
Davis didn't think so. Not even for a second did he entertain that kind of thought, as the person before him was a hidden ruler who allowed the Fire Phoenix Clan to stay at the top of their game, allowing them to remain the most powerful in the Phoenix Alliance and even among other major powers.
If Ancestor Reselius Zenflame didn't have any tricks up his sleeves, then his reputation would be for fart.
"Your determination… I have received it and will deliver it to the remnants of the Fire Phoenix Clan."
Davis spoke before he walked past Ancestor Reselius Zenflame, heading towards the spatial vortex where his true body was.
"I'm grateful…" Ancestor Reselius Zenflame uttered in response.
He took a deep breath as though suppressing his emotions before heading into the trembling mini-realm.
Even in this narrow cave tunnel, space began to tear in most places, so Davis could see that the mini-realm had really begun to collapse. Perhaps its anchor, some kind of core, or the coordinates were removed or damaged, causing the mini-realm to no longer be able to maintain itself.
A mini-realm was not a lower realm like the Grand Beginnings Continent or the lower realm Vereina came from. A mini-realm existed in the layers of space making up the First Haven World. Therefore, its collapse wouldn't bring utter destruction, although it might cause the area to be full of fissures for a period of time, which may differ based on the size and strength of the collapsing space.
Regardless, Davis walked out as though he truly wasn't going to kill Ancestor Reselius Zenflame with his own hands.
He stood before the spatial vortex that seemed to warp heavily as though it was going to collapse.
He needed to get the Legacy Artifacts and other things first as he didn't think of wasting them, but he did think about whether to leave Ancestor Reselius Zenflame here alive as it was possible he could have something up his sleeve. However, knowing that he wouldn't be able to do anything with his soul body alone, he took a step forward and placed his foot on the warping spatial vortex.
*Whoosh!~*
The pull was stronger, causing him to be thrown out at a fast speed, although he was easily able to regain balance and stop in front of himself, who was waiting with narrowed eyes.
He entrusted the Legacy Artifacts and the rings to the true body and turned around to head toward the spatial vortex. This time, the push was greater, disallowing him to enter.
However, his soul was powerful, reaching the High-Level Immortal Emperor Stage, although barely. Pushing forward forcefully, he stepped into the warping spatial vortex and entered into the collapsing mini-realm, rushing forward as he dodged the numerous spatial tears.
With dangers galore, he imagined that this was true and not an illusion. Moreover, with how fast the mini-realm was collapsing, he knew the core was destroyed. It wouldn't even be five minutes before the entire mini-realm gets devoured by the other layers of space, and some time has already passed, so he knew there were only a few minutes left.
Rushing out of the tunnel, he saw a vast world that was filled with spatial tears and fissures.
There was an ancient city in the distance. It was already heavily damaged by the spatial storm kicking up almost everywhere, even disallowing his soul sense to extend more. Nonetheless, he still spotted Ancestor Reselius Zenflame, who stood before the gates of the city, looking around with a forlorn look on his face.
Davis flew in the air. From above, he saw the city was empty, devoid of people.
Ancestor Reselius Zenflame wasn't the type to care about other people when his life was going to end, so Davis guessed that this city, no, the entire mini-realm was empty from the beginning, hence becoming a hideout only Ancestor Reselius Zenflame knew.
With that being the case, he didn't doubt that the realm was truly collapsing anymore. After all, it could stop at the end, leaving a bit of space intact that Ancestor Reselius Zenflame might use to survive until the Candidacy ends.
After all, what was ten years to a person who had lived millions of years?
"Haha. You're here again in your soul and body. I guess I can at least have a witness to my death. That's great."
Ancestor Reselius Zenflame spotted him and chuckled ever so lightly.
Davis didn't stand on ceremony as he stopped a few hundred meters away, his soul sense blooming as it encapsulated Ancestor Reselius Zenflame's body.
'What…? That's still his true body… he didn't interchange while I was away…?'
Davis's gaze fell.
He already doubted Ancestor Reselius Zenflame's words heavily, not even believing a single word for a moment. He couldn't read him using Heart Intent, but at least he knew to be able to differentiate between illusions as his Illusion Laws were truly high.
This was no illusion. And no illusion formation could withstand the tearing of space. At least, he could not see any illusions, leaving him with no choice but to think Ancestor Reselius Zenflame was truly intending to commit suicide.
'Could it be that he really just wanted to end his life on his own terms and not by anyone else…?'
Davis could understand with this thought, as this was a matter of pride.
People like Ancestor Reselius Zenflame who try to have everything will simply not give up until they used everything up their sleeves, but at the same time, even if they were going to die, they would try to end it on their own terms, whether it be sabotaging everything and dying while laughing crazily or wanting to die a clean or respectful death.
If Ancestor Reselius Zenflame wanted to die on his own terms, Davis didn't want to allow it either, as he wanted to torture this person.
But in the end, he thought of Great Ancestor Zenflame's words and sighed ever so lightly.
"Ah… I remembered. Your father said your mother will be disappointed and heartbroken to hear about you if she is still alive in the true immortal world."
Ancestor Reselius Zenflame jolted upon hearing his words before he turned to look at the city as though a familiar face welled up in his mind.
"Is that so?" He trembled ever so lightly before turning to look at Davis with a light smile.
"That is… rather… saddening…"
'So this is where he once lived with his family, huh…'
Davis understood what this mini-realm finally was. Nonetheless, he shrugged and continued to keep watch. It had already been a minute since he entered the mini-realm again.
*Rip!~*
A spatial tear was finally upon him, causing his limb to be torn apart. However, he merely moved to the side a bit and continued to keep an eye on Ancestor Reselius Zenflame.
Then, the moment came.
Ancestor Reselius Zenflame's surroundings cracked. Instead of a tear, it turned into a fissure, causing him to sink into it. Within a second, he was pulled under the spatial fissure, causing him to be thrown into a spatial storm.
Davis headed closer and saw that it was truly a spatial fissure.
The surroundings turned extremely dangerous. In fact, the way out had already closed as the spatial vortex collapsed.
'This bastard truly died…'
Davis scoffed, unable to believe this could happen. It was only a few seconds until he was also swallowed by the enlarging fissure, causing him to choose to dissipate by himself instead of getting torn apart ruthlessly.
Outside, Davis sighed ever so lightly.
He looked at the place where the spatial vortex had been. It no longer existed, and he couldn't find any trace of it either.
However, he merely brought out Killian Zenflame and activated his karmic sight.
"Bastard is still alive…"
Seeing the karmic thread connecting him and Ancestor Reselius Zenflame was just fifty thousand kilometers away, he couldn't help but want to laugh at the scene.
He mobilized as he threw Killian Zenflame into the life ring again, and within a burst of annihilative heavenly wind and flames, he shot up and traversed towards the western side of the mountain. But he just used the momentum to carry himself forward while he enveloped himself with his concealment technique.
Appearing above a mountain cave, he could see a bloodied silhouette walking out with his left hand missing, probably torn by the spatial storm.
'I see. He must've used a fairly strong node in space that allowed him to break out of the spatial storm by himself, which means this was pre-planned… No wonder he stood at that place before the gates, not moving an inch...'
