Divine Emperor of Death

chapter-3474
"Fuck…"
Davis muttered under his breath as he was on his way home.
He didn't know who to curse. He didn't know if he should curse Fairy Thunderblaze for not telling him or if he should curse Founder Alstreim Windstorm for acting on his own or even himself for not paying enough attention.
He felt that it was quite sneaky of Fairy Thunderblaze not to say such an important matter to him, like sacrificing Founder Alstreim Windstorm's life. He felt that it was stupid of Founder Alstreim Windstorm to take such actions when they were actually not in any dire need, even though he understood what he meant for him.
Davis didn't like how this went. It maddened him because he genuinely cared for Founder Alstreim Windstorm and didn't care if he had been useful or not, but the latter tried so much to prove useful to him, only to endanger himself and now be sealed in a prison of death. The amount of people he would bring back would correlate with stomping on him and causing him to die?
When Fairy Thunderblaze said that with a giggle, it infuriated him beyond compare, causing him to be unable to hold himself back and attack her.
His people's lives were not up for playing. If anything happened to Founder Alstreim Windstorm, how was he supposed to explain it to his family?
The Founder might have wanted to do something significant for him, but if the payment had been his life, Davis would rather not have it unless it was absolutely needed!
Even if not for his mother, he was confident Diana would've reached the Ninth Stage by now and would only be a thin line away from ascending. She could carry them all if she so wished. His only worry was his mother doing something out of desperation since she wouldn't have gotten any message from Logan and would be thinking Davis was dead all day long, even blaming herself over it for no apparent reason.
But still, it was only his speculation and didn't warrant Founder Alstreim Windstorm to do something extreme.
He still didn't like the fact that this matter got out of hand.Nonetheless, the more distance he gained from her, the more he calmed down. His frustration receded, and calm returned to his face, allowing him to expand his perspective instead of just wanting to slice her retaliation.
'Fine, I'll accept your bravery, Founder Alstreim…'
Davis thought, choosing to respect his wishes. However, once he woke him up, he wanted to slap him till he was sent flying toward a mountain, just to let him know that if he wanted to die, then he could do it for his own family and not for himself.
However, this only made Davis saddened as he felt like Founder Alstreim Windstorm might view him as his own son due to his talent. It was not uncommon for grandparents of many generations above to accept children of many generations below as their adopted sons or daughters in order for them to train them for their unbelievable talent.
Hence, in Founder Alstreim Windstorm's mind, he may very well be his son. Even in Founder Alstreim Windstorm's tone from the projection, Davis could feel extreme pride oozing out from his voice.
But from that same voice, Davis could also tell that this person wished for him to succeed and, apparently, not lose his light.
He didn't know what that was supposed to mean as there were many meanings, one being to not stop being the beacon of hope for the Alstreim Family and the other to not lose his path and keep shining bright as he always did or even remain a good man for the others to see that he wasn't an evil Anarchic Divergent.
'I'll send him a good slap and ask him about it when he wakes up…'
Davis decided.
As soon as he stopped worrying about Founder Alstreim Windstorm, Fairy Thunderblaze's glare entered his mind.
Her actions were dubious, and she didn't consider his previous words of not touching his family at all, especially when she laughed about Founder Alstreim Windstorm's condition and stomping him and whatnot.
Perhaps she had been trying to lighten up the mood as he knew if that cunning woman really wanted to do something to him, the stab wouldn't be this light. It would be as painful as possible, like targeting one of his women, but she went for a man, an ancestor who might not be so close, as though testing his bottom line.
However, her eyes… her eyes said something else that made him feel like she wasn't amused by his reaction to this situation.
'Most likely, she just wanted to see her father and wanted the path to be stable no matter what…?'
Davis thought, but by the end, even he became unsure.
If she just wanted to pay respects to her father, then why bother stabilizing the path to that level? He definitely didn't feel like it was to help him as he had yet to repay his debt to her.
Why would she help him? He felt like something else was there but just couldn't wrap his finger around it.
Inwardly grumbling all the way until he reached home, Davis contacted Tanya, thinking she might be near the mission island as she might still be doing missions. Her grinding never stopped.
Once he got hold of her, he made her visit Founder Alstreim Windstorm's house.
After all, the Alstreims hadn't relocated to the new city yet, so they were still back on the Aurora Cloud Gate's island.
"Oh? You're back so soon?"
Meanwhile, he headed towards Myria's chamber and intruded on her meditation. It wasn't long since he left, so he didn't think she would have re-entered meditation again, and indeed, she was reading some scrolls relating to concepts of life and death in preparation for dissolving her soul physique to create the Eternal Life Body.
"Myria, just what's wrong with her? Does she want to be killed?"
Davis asked with much irritation. Myria indirectly said that Fairy Thunderblaze didn't mean any harm, but she just did the opposite.
"What's wrong?"
Upon being questioned by Myria, who looked at him with narrowed eyes, he began explaining what had happened. Since Myria had been keeping an eye on Fairy Thunderblaze since they were like a team back in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, he imagined that she would understand her character, so instead of mulling all over the place, he decided to ask Myria who might be able to explain Fairy Thunderblaze's ridiculous actions.
"Isn't the answer obvious?"
Hearing his side of the story, Myria inclined her head.
Davis shook his head, "How?"
"She accepted Founder Alstreim Windstorm's sacrifice because she wanted to help you not lose your path."
"Why?" Davis appeared confused.
That was not the action of someone who didn't want to lose his path as he had already told her not to touch someone from his family, but she precisely went and did that, infuriating him. How was that supposed to help him or even allow her to remain safe from him?
That was opposed to the smarts of the Fairy Thunderblaze he knew.
"I already told you." Myria gently sighed, "She's living the life of how I chose to become before you happened to me."
"What is that supposed to mean? Going around manipulating everyone to your needs and keeping people at a distance? You were a Saintess back then and backstabbed by the people around you, so your actions were understandable, but she-"
"You're missing the point. It is an answer every Anarchic Divergent, no- every Divergent would arrive at, but you were able to entirely skip due to this."
Myria pointed at his forehead, his soul, but it was otherwise known as Fallen Heaven.
Davis blinked, not knowing where she was getting at, but suddenly went back to the myths of how an Anarchic Divergent would always be alone, fated to live a life of solitude that they didn't bother making friends or any worthwhile relationship.
Looking at his reaction, Myria nodded, "Yes, the loved ones of Anarchic Divergents were always in danger. They simply didn't last long like they were ants, dying sooner than their lifespans dictated due to their calamitous karmic nature, so some or many Anarchic Divergents will eventually come to learn that abusing their loved ones will allow them to live."
"Wha-"
