Divine Emperor of Death
chapter-3678

"Ahahaha!~"

Fanwain laughed out loud, looking absolutely amused in response to Shirley's question.

"That's what I want to know too. This chick took her Escape Talisman out, but she defended this place like her life bent on it after the third seal shattered."

"Is that true?" Shirley's voice seeped out like frigid cold.

"Perhaps she was afraid that if she disappeared, you'd stupidly come out and get ambushed by us. To think you two have formed some kind of camaraderie in this short amount of time... how wonderful… how tear-jerking..."

Fanwain appeared moved as his toad eyes elongated.

He was a fey who had more anthropomorphic features than a fey would usually show due to the lack of purity of their bloodline, sometimes even feeling shameful for it. However, he seemed to take full pride in his appearance, even having his way of pissing off people with his exaggerated reactions.

"It's not that complicated." Dewzai sneered, "Since she completed the Ninth Hidden Pagoda, then naturally, I had to stay in order to steal it while feigning weakness, but you wreaked havoc in my plans, crushing my head and imprisoning me while I was focused on ambushing her."

"Ahaha!"

Fanwain laughed hilariously, "You sure know how to bullshit after screaming 'Shirley~ Run~'"

He acted out like a damsel in distress, laughing again before he raised his hand and glared at her, "I don't care if you want to plunder her or not, but your initial reaction to defending this area gave out that you care about this woman and most likely vice versa with how pissed she looks right now…"

Hearing his soul transmission, Dewzai glared at him.

She wanted to scream out his plan, but the pressure emerging from his hands forcefully sealed her voice and energy, causing her to look furious.

'Foolish women. While you waste your lives being sympathetic to each other's plight, the others will end up taking advantage of the tears. Don't go anywhere, o beautiful phoenix. I need you to stay to plunder the rewards from you…'

Fanwain kept his hand down and smiled at Shirley, clenching his fist ever so lightly as he shut up Dewzai.

"Ugh…"

All Dewzai could do was squeal out in pain, but her voice was suppressed as though she didn't want Shirley to hear it when, in truth, Fanwain was controlling what sounds escaped out of his palm.

"Hmm?" Fanwain turned to look at her in his palm, "Not enough pain?"

Golden energy swelled in his palm, causing Dewzai to throw her head up and shudder, yet she refused to scream.

"Stop."

Fanwain was not amused, but after he heard Shirley's voice, his expression lit up as he looked at her.

"Are you going to hand over the rewards or watch her suffer?"

Shirley narrowed her brows. She put her hands into her sleeves, finding three pills. It wasn't in the treasure chests like she expected it would, making her furrow her brows further.

"I received a Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, one that is at Empyrean Grade and capable of increasing an Immortal Emperor's prowess up to three or four levels."

"…!"

Fanwain's eyes shot wide in shock, and so did the four others who stood behind him. Their eyes all flashed with greed, and the first thing they did was glance at each other with caution and suspicion.

"…"

Fanwain also calmed and noticed that Shirley made their half-assed unity further drop. He smiled as though having to give her some respect as he had just turned them against each other with a single statement that was perfectly normal to reveal.

"You're different from what I heard. You're cunning, but it doesn't matter. You give that to me, and we'll exchange this supreme fox beauty in return."

"Wait a minute…" One of the inheritors behind frowned, "Who said you alone can exchange her? She was our prisoner and you need to wait for all of us to decide what to do with her."

"Don't misunderstand." Fanwain forced a smile, but he didn't turn to look back.

"This fox is the only one who can help us obtain that treasure. As for who it goes to, we can decide that with a fair battle, but first, we need to get it from her."

He sent them four soul transmissions, which caused them to frown. Eventually, they gave their permission, which caused Fanwain to imperceptibly smirk.

'These fuckers think they can stab me in the back the moment I obtain it…'

Shirley glared at them with her head lowered. Her crimson phoenix eyes were blazing with killing intent but it only made Fanwain excited, apparently loving the idea of an aggressive woman because all he could see what suppressing her.

"You'll truly release her, or will you kill her the moment I pass the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill to you?"

"Oh no," Fanwain shook his head, "I may be diabolical when it comes to my tongue but body actually listens to what I say, so rest assured that I will release her the moment the treasure is in my hands."

Shirley shook her head lightly, "Even if that's the case, it won't do. We'll release at the same time."

"Hoho-" Fanwain looked amused, "You think you have the leverage to negotiate?"

Shirley took out her hands from her sleeve and patted her stomach, bringing out her Escape Talisman.

"Dewzai is nothing but a mere stepping stone in my life. However, as a fellow lady, I can't pretend I didn't see her suffering and walk past as though it didn't concern me, but if it costs me too much, then I simply wouldn't bother."

"Whatever you say, boss lady~"

Fanwain shrugged, reaching out his empty hand.

"Maintain your distance and throw it to me."

It was as though she didn't consider this reward to be valuable, which left him wondering if she was lying, but he felt that he would soon know once he saw the pill.

Shirley kept her Escape Talisman out in the open as though readying to escape anytime. Her other hand went back into her sleeves as she took out a pill. Its appearance was golden in color but its surface was also glazed, ultra shiny that it reflected the crystal surface and glowed like a heavenly pill.

The moment it appeared, Fanwain's calmness receded.

The other four inheritors also held their breaths, appearing significantly shaken. They thought Shirley was bullshitting them, but the moment the pill appeared, they could see its magnificence even though it lacked undulations.

Shirley reached out with her hand and held the pill with her index and thumb finger, displaying it to them before she abruptly flicked it towards them.

'Fuck…!'

While they were still taken aback and had just discovered some kind of translucent inscription sealed the pill, Shirley sent it flying towards them.

Fanwain's expression churned.

She didn't send it towards him but sent it flying above him. He barely reacted, turning around, but to his frustration, he saw the other four reaching out at the same time.

"Die!"

He threw Dewzai towards Shirley to impede her actions and used the palm that carried hidden energy intended to kill Dewzai or harm Shirley at the four inheritors, looking to kill them with this one move as golden waves soared. His prowess rose in an instant to nine levels higher before the palm he sent out crushed the arms of two inheritors. However, they were still powerful, appearing to be two levels higher than him in cultivation base, which meant they had most likely reached the sixth step while Fanwain had reached the eighth step. This made them equal in terms of prowess, so the two of them managed to block the attack, but they were sent flying by the impact.

Fanwain jumped, his hand also reaching out for the Gilded Ascendant Realm Pill.

However, he still saw he was behind the other two inheritors, causing him to open his mouth and send out a long, sticky tongue.

The tip of his tongue shot with an insane speed surpassing that of a movement speed, akin to attack speed. It quickly elongated and stuck to the Gilded Ascendant Realm Pill, causing his eyes to widen with delight as he smiled.

"…"

However, he belatedly noticed that his tongue struck the back of a hand instead of a pill. The figure of a white-robed woman upside down appeared. Her crimson eyes were colder than ice phoenix flames, staring at him with utter disgust.

"Die!"

Fanwain didn't back down but screamed out, sending a soul attack against her through his tongue.

However, his energy stopped right at the tip of his tongue, unable to proceed to his shock.

He didn't even feel his tongue going utter cold but could see a crimson-blue wisp of flame erupt from Shirley's fist.

The other two inheritors also attacked Shirley at the same time.

However, the moment they saw the burst of crimson-blue wisp into a purgatory lotus engulfing them, their scalp turned numb.

"Retreat!"

One of them screamed out, but the strange crimson-blue flames quickly engulfed them, quickly covering their body in horrifying crystals that froze them yet kept burning them from the inside, causing intense ruptures.

"Aarhgaaaaaaa!-"

The two inheritors screamed out loud as their arms were instantaneously covered in those hideous crimson-blue crystals that ruptured from their blood, bringing them immense pain. However, they managed to cut down their arms and pull back, erecting multiple barriers in their trail with soul force.
