Divine Emperor of Death

chapter-3755
Davis and Nyoran headed south.
After all, to the east was a human settlement, and to the west was a magical beast wildland. It wouldn't do well for him to attract both forces.
So they headed south, where it apparently met an ocean, but the shore and a few kilometers ahead belonged to a poisonous sea beast, so no one headed there, not even the crimson scorpion as it was afraid of a certain entity there, not because there was a powerful existence but because it was beaten black and blue by that existence in its childhood.
Apparently, it had yet to take revenge and had been biding its time to conquer the Great Desolate Plains first and appear coolly in front of it in order to intimidate it into submission.
Davis could imagine a whole story from that, and it made him once again see there were whole lives involved in these magical beasts. He couldn't help but glance at his palm, knowing that in the same way, there were going to be whole lives involved in the people he was going to end for his and his family's survival.
'I guess I should be prepared to get my hands dirty again…'
The last time he had massacred people with his own hands was when the Vast Sky Emperor's people showed their true colors back in the Grand Beginnings Continent. Even for the Fire Phoenix Clan, he didn't directly harm them, as most of the innocent casualties were the heavenly tribulation's doing.
He accepted it as his fault, but still, that wasn't done with his hands. The sensation of killing unrelated people in his quest for revenge or defense was grating to his very heart, making him feel like he was falling into darkness, yet if push came to shove, he knew he would do it again without batting an eyelid.
He found himself scary sometimes.
Nonetheless, he turned to look at Yotan, who was flying beside them, and found something amiss with her. That was why he had called her to come with him. Still, he didn't say anything and moved far to the south, gaining enough distance from their temporary outpost.
"This should be fine…"He stopped at a hill. A few hundred thousand kilometers away, he could see the seashore and the poisonous miasma that seeped into the air above like an eternal mist.
That was not their destination, so he didn't bother with it, as it would be fine as long as they didn't bother the Level Seven Immortal Emperor Beast there.
Davis turned to look at Nyoran.
"Let's begin."
"…"
Nyoran stared at him before she nodded a few seconds later.
She raised her hand and placed the fingers of her two hands over each other, but her palms didn't connect. It made for a strange temple-like sign as nether energy began to resonate strangely in the atmosphere.
"Remember, you're just going to step in and step out like entering a room and getting out. Don't take too long to return in case there might be some kind of restriction, like disappearing for a few years, even for you as a variant. I can't afford to lose you, Nyoran."
Davis reminded her.
Nyoran shuddered ever so lightly but nodded and finally closed her eyes.
If she were to think about it properly, she didn't know what exactly she was trying to achieve. After all, even after becoming an Emperor-Tier Variant Ghostly Crow, she didn't receive any inherited memories related to the Nether Dimension.
For an Emperor-Tier Ghostly Crow, it was said this species technique that she was about to try would cause them to disappear and reappear in the same place without any recollection of what happened.
However, what would happen to a variant like her?
It was unknown, so she even asked the most erudite woman in his harem, Myria, and only heard her say that she might remember upon actually using the technique since most information on universal secrets caused major chaos and would be karmically forgotten in order to maintain a balance.
It was the same way how Myria had forgotten how to use some Divine Techniques until she met one again in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, allowing her to gain victory against many supreme geniuses.
Nyoran remembered Myria's words and poured her energy into her Emperor-Tier Species Technique.
The next second, she disappeared from Davis's gaze.
"…!"
Yotan also widened her eyes in shock as Nyoran simply disappeared, not even leaving a trace of her aura in the area as it was completely masked.
Davis blinked as a few seconds passed.
One part of him wondered if Nyoran was still here and was just concealing herself, and the other part wondered if she had truly ventured into the Nether Dimension and just couldn't return.
"Master," However, a voice echoed in his soul sea.
It was Nadia.
She had been chilling in his soul sea for some time ever since he slept with Myria. After all, the Transitory Beast Taming Pact was practically made to nurture pregnant magical beasts.
"I can feel it. Nyoran's nether energy is still in the air, and it's in the shape of a triangle."
"Oh?"
Davis raised his brows before he looked at Yotan.
"Do you sense anything strange?"
"No."
Yotan shook her head. She was a Level Three Immortal Emperor and couldn't sense anything strange in the atmosphere, which made Davis blink. On the other hand, his Nadia was just a Level One Immortal Emperor Beast, but she could still sense the nether energy in the air?
Of course, Nadia was a Nether Springs Death Wolf, so it made sense that she could detect Nyoran's nether-darkness energy. However, Nadia's death energy was way purer because she had been mutated by Fallen Heaven's death energy.
It lacked the nether aspect, containing only a minute amount of nether-death energy, so he was surprised that Nadia was able to detect Nyoran's nether energy while he or even Yotan couldn't.
"Alright, guide me there…"
Davis instructed Nadia and walked towards Yotan before he grabbed her hand.
Without saying anything, he pulled her and walked over to the place Nadia instructed. He took six steps before the scenery in front of him changed abruptly, causing him to narrow his eyes.
It was no longer the day, or rather… he didn't know what the skies were like as the surroundings were full of violet or purple mist. He guessed that it should be the so-called nether haze that is hostile to any lifeform that isn't born here.
Nonetheless, he didn't feel anything strange at the moment.
He recalled what had happened and knew that he had stepped into that strange triangular state of the nether-darkness energy, which he now understood was some kind of concealed portal that Nyoran summoned with her species technique.
'This… this place really could be the Nether Dimension…'
Davis trembled with excitement.
Amidst the purple mist, he had just spotted Nyoran. He was about to call her out when she suddenly placed a hand on her mouth and shook her head heavily, making Davis blink.
Davis couldn't really see or sense much with a thick layer of purple mist flowing everywhere, but he knew not to make a sound as he felt he should listen to the tour guide Nyoran, so he stepped back slowly along with Yotan. Nadia was also eerily silent, and he could feel her tense emotions, so he stepped back, stepped back again, and reappeared in the barren land again.
The next second, Nyoran also appeared, as she seemed to have stepped out of the portal to the Nether Dimension she had created. However, she directly collapsed, causing him to capture her from hitting the ground.
*Gasp!~*
"Nyoran…"
Nyoran took a deep breath as though to rejuvenate herself while Davis blinked. Holding her lightly, he could feel how tensed her muscles were still now, making him wonder what kind of monstrosity they had almost encountered on the other side.
"It… it was a Nether Devourer Beast…" Nyoran's gaze shook, "I remember… I remember many things now…!"
She raised her head, looking at him with wide yet horrified eyes, "It was sleeping… but it was at the Mid Empyrean Stage if I'm not wrong!"
