Divine Emperor of Death

chapter-3840
"…"
Evelynn blinked at Kalissa's words and wondered how exactly the clan survived in the presence of major powers and figures sieging and exterminating them. Did some forces decided to escape preemptively? Or were they already outside their realm when that happened?
It was a mystery that perplexed her.
"What happened? Tell me how the clan fell."
"My apologies, your highness."Kalissa removed her gaze from Davis and lowered her head, "I'm not sure, as I didn't personally experience it myself, but the Grand Elder should be able to fill your highness in on that. I only know that the Chromatic Arachnid Minor Realm was besieged by all the major powers of the Lower Realms and Minor Realms, finally meeting its end."
"Our Minor Realm is currently occupied by another spider clan we've been rivals with for millions of years, the Pyraxis Ember Arachnid. Those fiery arachnids were known for their blazing red exoskeletons and ability to summon scorching flames in battle. Their name struck fear into the hearts of their enemies, as they were unstoppable forces of destruction on the battlefield, their webs practically resistant to fire, almost at the level of Saint Magical Beasts like the Fire Phoenix. But most important of all, their fire has the property of purging hexes, which has granted them immense reputation within the Lower Realms that they would get asked to purge whatever hexes have been cast on them."
Speaking to this point, Kalissa's expression churned. She exuded a bit of envy.
What was supposed to be their clan's glory, as they were also proficient in removing hexes since they could cast, was taken over by the Pyraxis Ember Arachnid Clan. Suddenly, she flinched with vigor.
"Of course! There's no way those fiery arachnids could match us in a battle, as our hexes are way more specialized and powerful. They remained beneath us until the world deemed us too dangerous to exist."
She waved her hand, looking passionate.
"…"Evelynn heard Davis's soul transmission. There was not a single ounce of falsehood in Kalissa's words. From her emotions, it seemed that she was excited, almost willing to do anything to get Evelynn to help and then reclaim what was once a whole clan.
However, that didn't mean she didn't hide anything.
"Is that the only reason?" Evelynn asked with raised brows.
Kalissa looked taken aback. She thought for a moment before wondering.
"What does your highness mean?" Her gaze narrowed, wondering if there was anything she wasn't aware of.
After all, Evelynn received Empress Hexena Xylusc's inheritance, so who knows what kind of revelation she received?
"Nothing." Evelynn shook her head, "I just find it difficult to believe that those major powers could just cleanse a major power, stating hex as an evil force since your clan has already existed for many years, ruling over a Minor Realm. It is rather vile of those powers to suddenly change their tone and exterminate you all without a reason, so I figure a piece of the puzzle could be missing. Empress Hexena Xylusc also had similar doubts, but she was also young and didn't discover anything strange within the clan, leading her to believe the clan was eradicated solely because of their powerful hexes. If you don't know anything or are convinced of the same, that's fine."
Evelynn waved her hand, "Did the Heaven's Warriors take part?"
"No… not that I'm aware of."
Kalissa shook her head. She looked sad.
As far as she knew, even the Heaven's Warriors didn't take part, but their entire clan was deemed evil. She wondered who exactly they offended for the entire world to rip them apart leg by leg.
Evelynn nodded, "It's a mystery we may never fully understand. The reasons behind the clan's eradication may be hidden forever. However, you have my word that I will bring the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Clan to a safe haven and reclaim their glory one day."
"Long live, your majesty."
Kalissa raised her hands high up in the air before she fully kowtowed, her forehead hitting the ground.
Fahzi also followed, recognizing that Evelynn had a higher status than him, although he was still confused as to what was going on. He knew Kalissa was a Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Fey, but he never imagined he also carried its blood and was a prince to boot.
"So you've all been avoiding detection by draining your Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Blood? Is such an act not blasphemous?"
"Forgive us, your highness!" Kalissa lowered her head.
"It is blasphemous, but to survive, we have no choice. The royal blood has been targeted multiple times, and we learned that the enemy forces are using Mystic Diviners to locate the royals, so we have drained the blood from all royals, deciding to return it only when there's no choice but to retaliate or give birth to the next generation."
"…"
Davis couldn't help but inwardly smile as he looked at Evelynn's glare. His first wife was now fully acting as the Empress of the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Clan.
"Is that not cruel to him?" Evelynn asked.
She could only imagine how painful it is to remove the other half of the blood that one was born with.
The chances of surviving as a baby were very low, yet Prince Fahzi was still before her, even appearing to be working hard for the sake of surviving.
"Your highness, as long as Prince Fahzi's Spirit Blood remains intact, we can always restore his blood. His bloodline talent may not return to its prime, but it's still better than getting killed. To be extra safe, the other royal members are also scattered in different Lower Realms or Minor Realms."
"I see."
Evelynn nodded.
She was disapproving of such a method. After all, she was also a mother but couldn't imagine draining the blood from Azariel and Viridia, subjecting them to immense pain. However, times were times.
She couldn't deny that this was a good choice when survival was at stake. It was indeed better than getting killed.
"So— where are the hidden forces?"
Evelynn finally asked the question.
It made Kalissa's expression sink. She looked towards Davis, as though hesitant to say that information in front of him. She may welcome his chaotic presence, but it was unknown if the others would welcome him. Besides, to bring an Anarchic Divergent to their doorstep and be at his mercy was nothing but folly.
Evelynn's gaze flickered as she saw Kalissa didn't answer.
"I don't know what kind of rumors are spreading about me and him. I'm sure you know me as the Hex Demoness but this man over here, the Divine Emperor of Death, is not only my husband in name but also the love of my life. I live and die with him."
"…!"
"If the remnants of the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Clan even show the slightest disapproval for him, I will abandon you all without batting an eyelid."
"Your highness, please don't say that. I will reveal everything."
Kalissa shuddered with fear visible in her eyes.
She was shocked by Evelynn's declaration of absolute faithfulness. After all, she was thinking there was no way the Divine Emperor of Death could suppress her Empress considering the difference in their cultivation base, but now that she knew the extent of their relationship, she decided to reveal the location of their hidden forces.
"They… the remnant forces are hidden on an asteroid near the Azure Tree Lower Realm…"
"…"
Davis and Evelynn looked at each other quickly. Their expressions were a bit astounded.
Why was everything they came across gathering around that location? Could it be that they need to change their destination since it was kind of compromised with the execution of his friends going on?
But then again, Davis quickly wondered: if he could use the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Clan's remnant forces, would he be able to save his friends?
His lips curled, shaking his head, as he knew the very least they would probably need was a Late Stage Empyrean. He was sure a few Realm Masters would oversee the execution even if the Heaven's Warriors didn't show up, all to obtain karmic virtue from killing him.
Nonetheless, Davis looked at Kalissa.
"There are minor chances of your remnant forces surviving to this day without someone helping. Is the Azure Tree Lower Realm secretly harboring your kind?"
"…!"
Kalissa's heart sank.
She didn't reply or have her expression change as though she had returned to her lifeless day-to-day life, but the changes in her emotions alone were enough for him to know he guessed right.
