Earth's Greatest Magus
-
chapter-2193
The message did not just come in writing, but also through a messenger—someone Emery was closely familiar with.
"Armand!" Emery exclaimed in surprise.
Armand, once an elite Nephilim warrior, had later become Karat's Magus guard through Emery's recommendation. The man had traveled from Raven City, the neighboring city to Yuria, to deliver the urgent news in person.
"Emery, the situation is extremely messy right now," Armand began, his usually calm demeanor marred by tension.
He proceeded to explain the chaotic circumstances. A severe clash had erupted between two powerful Karat elders, each wielding immense influence within their faction. This conflict escalated into a ferocious battle, resulting in the deaths of dozens of magus and four grand magus. The severity of the confrontation was unprecedented, leaving a trail of devastation and causing an irreparable rift within the Karat family. The division was so severe that it resulted in a complete communication cut-off between the Karat members who resided in Golden City and those who remained on their home planet. This schism disrupted the balance of power and threatened the stability of their entire faction.
In the midst of this turmoil was Tessa, the granddaughter of the Supreme Magus and the rightful heiress to the faction. Due to her significant position and the potential threat to her safety, she was forcefully placed under lockdown. The isolation was meant to protect her, but it also cut her off from allies and support.
[Emery, I hear about your situation. Unfortunately, I am in no condition to support you directly. Attached is a list of names—important people in Golden City who are closely related to Nephilim factions. I hope this information can be of help to your situation. Good luck.]
Reading such a sincere message, while knowing her dire circumstances, touched Emery deeply. Tessa had been a great friend, and Emery felt a strong compulsion to return the favor.
Emery swiftly convened Magus Rosia, Cecilia, and Chumo to share the list of names provided by Tessa. As they reviewed the names, it became evident just how extensive the Nephilim's network and influence were within Golden City. Emery's thoughts raced as he contemplated the consequences of Grand Magus Ishtar openly siding with the Qin faction. Such support would not only secure them additional seats on the council but also grant them substantial authority within the city's law enforcement and military apparatus.
With the debt-paying solution out of the equation and finding the lost document proving to be a hopeless endeavor, Emery's only option was to join the council election battle. The stakes were high, and this decision marked a significant turning point in his strategy.
Emery turned to Armand and asked, "I need to speak with Tessa. Is this possible?"Armand, initially highly pessimistic, pondered for a moment before replying, "There is one chance you can speak with her… in three days… she will be attending the grand reception."
Hearing this, Emery was struck with an idea. He turned to Magus Rosia and asked, "Senior, are you ready to join the nomination?"
Decisively, Rosia responded, "Yes."
The next day, the Terra faction announced Magus Rosia as one of their candidates for the coming council election. Her name was quickly publicized throughout Golden City, sparking interest and discussion among the city's populace.
The fact that she was the sole candidate from a top-tier faction elicited laughter from many nobles and citizens alike. Even her esteemed background as a veteran of the Magus Alliance and widow of a city hero failed to impress. However, the following day brought a significant development: Zodiac City publicly endorsed Magus Rosia, quickly rallying support from various minority groups, especially the half-bloods.
Emery was present in Zodiac City when Grand Magus Kurma of the Tortoise bloodline, the acting overseer of the city, announced his support.
"Thank you, Elder. We are grateful for your help," Emery said respectfully.
"I am just following our King's wishes. I wish you good luck," replied the Tortoise Elder.
After speaking with the overseer, Emery was surprised to see a familiar face—Magus Shena of the Azure Dragon. She had been absent for a while and returned transformed.
"Senior... You are a Grand Magus already! Congratulations!" Emery exclaimed with genuine surprise and admiration.
The female Grand Magus, visibly moved, knelt before Emery, gesturing an ancient dragon clan salute. "Emery, I came to thank you for what you did for my cousin Shen Long. You brought honor back to our family. I will forever be in your debt."
It was revealed that Shen Long had left an inheritance to Shena, which had enabled her breakthrough into the realm of Grand Magus. Now aware of Emery's dire situation, she had chosen to relinquish her post at Zodiac City and fully join forces with Terra City.
Her presence at their next meeting infused the group with renewed positivity. The meeting was convened primarily to strategize on their path to success in the upcoming council election. One key agenda item was their participation in the Golden City Grand Reception—an event crucial for showcasing their presence and garnering attention from other noble factions.
"Magus Rosia, as a council candidate, has received an invitation. We, the Terra faction, have also received two invitations. Who will accompany me?" Emery inquired.
The Grand Reception promised an evening of opulence, featuring music and dance. It was widely understood that Emery's attendance needed to be complemented by a companion who could navigate the intricacies of such social gatherings with grace and charm. Many eyes instinctively turned to Morgana, whose beauty and presence commanded attention. However, it was quickly apparent that this type of event was outside Morgana's usual domain.
With their bond, Emery was able to sense Morgana's interest in accompanying him to such an event. However, Magus Rosia interjected with a different perspective.
"I think you should consider bringing someone with a Grand Magus realm, to show strength," Grand Magus Fantasme decisively rejected the idea, her expression firm as she articulated her stance. This left Grand Magus Shena, however, the Dragon half-blood proposed an alternative candidate.
"If we are aiming for such impact, Zodiac City has already sent someone else—a well-known Two Cosmos veteran to help reinforce Terra City, she will be the perfect partner for you," Grand Magus Shina said with a teasing smile.
Emery's interest was piqued. "Who?"
The answer came swiftly.
A figure arrived at Terra City astride a majestic crimson dragon. Stepping off the dragon's back was a stunning woman with jet-black hair cascading down her back, her presence exuding a quiet yet formidable aura. Emery gasped in surprise as he recognized her instantly—Grand Magus Lilith, the renowned Dark Salamander.
