Chapter 625: Rain on the Empty Hill

“Anything else?” Zheng Shixiong asked.

“No,” Sun Yunsheng said.

“I’ll remember. Thank you,” Zheng Shixiong said. To him, Wang Yao’s rules were much less complicated and strange than the King Pharmacist in Miao area.

“Help yourself here. I’m going to see Dr Wang now,” Sun Yunsheng said.

After helping Zheng Shixiong and the group of people who had come with him, Sun Yunsheng went to Wang Yao’s clinic. “Dr. Wang.”

“Who are those people?” Wang Yao asked.

“Have you ever heard of Xuanhuang Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.?” Sun Yunsheng asked.

“Yeah, it’s a big pharmaceutical company in the south,” Wang Yao said.

“The company belongs to the Zheng Family. The patient is the second son of the owner, Zheng Shian. His name is Zheng Weijun,” Sun Yunsheng said.

“I see. Have some tea.” Wang Yao made Sun Yunsheng a cup of tea.

“Thank you, Dr. Wang.” Sun Yunsheng stood up.

“Sit down please. Mr. Zheng’s condition is very critical. I can only try my best. I’ve explained this to his family just now,” Wang Yao said.

“Yes, and I’ve told him about your rules,” Sun Yunsheng said.

“Good, they seem to be smart people,” Wang Yao said calmly.

“Yes,” Sun Yunsheng said.

He explained to Wang Yao the relationship between Zheng Shixiong and Zheng Weijun. Apparently, Zheng Shixiong was Zheng Shian’s cousin, a very close relative. Sun Yunsheng didn’t stay in the clinic for long. He went to talk to Zheng Shixiong briefly before leaving the village.

Zheng Shixiong and his group of people stayed in the best house in the village.

“Uncle Wu, what do you think of that Dr. Wang?” Zheng Shixiong asked. He was chatting with a man in his 50s in the study room.

“I saw Sun Yunsheng when he was very sick. Yunsheng was in very critical condition. I didn’t expect he would survive. If that young doctor cured Yunsheng, he must be an extraordinary doctor. He might be able to cure Weijun,” the man in his 50s said. “The only thing is that we will be staying here for some time. Even the King Pharmacist won’t be able to cure Weijun in short period of time.”

“That’s fine. As long as Weijun can get better, I don’t mind staying here for years. But, you will have to spend some time with us,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“That’s fine, Shixiong,” the man in his 50s said.

Wang Yao’s parents asked about Zheng Weijun during lunch. Everyone in the village was talking about it. He briefly told his parents the background so they wouldn’t worry about him.

He didn’t work in the clinic in the afternoon. He went back to Nanshan Hill to brew a decoction for Zheng Weijun. The decoction was to consolidate his corporeity.

Wang Yao would also brew regather soup. Since Zheng Weijun was very sick, he urgently required medication to enhance his fundamental health. Common herbs wouldn’t work for him. Since the Zheng Family could afford it, Wang Yao decided to add licorice roots into the decoction.

He put ginseng, wolfberry, Solomon’s seal, gorgon, ganoderma, Shanjing, and Guiyuan into the decoction. All the herbs mingled in the multifunctional pot. The power of the herbs melted inside the liquid. A unique smell came out of the pot.

This was the most frequently brewed decoction. Wang Yao wouldn’t make any mistakes during the process. He soon finished brewing the decoction.

He didn’t leave Nanshan Hill immaculately. Instead, he documented Zheng Weijun’s symptoms in details. This was a rare case worth recording.

In Sun Yunsheng’s house, Zheng Shixiong turned to the man in his 50s and asked, “Uncle Wu, would you like to go out to walk around?”

The older man agreed.

It was still raining outside with fine raindrops. The two of them shared an umbrella and slowly walked on the only main road in the village.

The village was very quiet. The only sounds they could hear were either dogs or the chickens. Following the outbreak of the horrible contagious disease, less and less people kept livestock. Since the main income source in the countryside was farming and grazing, a lot of families now had reduced income.

“The village is really quiet,” said the man, whose surname was Wu.

“Yes, it’s quite different here compared to the south,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Exactly,” Mr. Wu said.

It was much more humid in south. In fact, the countryside south of Yangtze River was completely different. Unlike north of Yangtze River, there were small lakes and river canals everywhere in the south.

Zheng Shixiong and Mr. Wu rarely got a chance to spend time living and traveling in the north.

“This is a rare opportunity for us to relax,” Zheng Shixiong said with a sigh.

“You’ve been running around for Master Weijun lately,” Mr. Wu said. “Yunnan, northwest, northeast… You’ve been everywhere. I believe you are exhausted.”

“Please stop calling him master. He is from the younger generation. You can be his grandpa. Master is a really heavy word,” Zheng Shixiong said.

As they were chatting, they reached the south end of the village and saw a valiant young woman and a good-looking young man coming from the hill.

“Sis, these trees look like new. Dr. Wang is using them to block the entrance to the battle array,” the young man said.

He and his sister had just been to Nanshan Hill and seen the lines of trees Wang Yao planted recently.

“I think Dr. Wang has a good reason to do it,” Chen Ying said.

She suddenly stopped. “That guy over there has such a baleful look!” She noticed Zheng Shixiong, who was not far from her and Chen Zhou.

“I didn’t expect to see such an extraordinary woman in this small village,” the man in his 50s said.

“Uncle Wu, they are not from this village. I met this young woman once. I recognized her, but she probably doesn’t remember me,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Really?” Mr. Wu asked with curiosity.

“Never mind, let’s go,” Zheng Shixiong said.

Two groups of people simply passed one another.

“They are from Beijing. I’m not sure if they are here for treatment,” Zheng Shixiong said after Chen Ying and Chen Zhou had gone by.

“Beijing?” Mr. Wu was surprised.

“Yes, the Su family from Beijing,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Which Su family?” Mr. Wu asked.

“The well-known Su Family,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Really?” Mr. Wu was still surprised.

The rain didn’t stop until early evening. Wang Yao was still on Nanshan Hill.

Crack! He opened the wooden door of his cottage and walked out.

Woof! Woof! San Xian barked.

Wang Yao heard a rumbling sound. “Hmm?”

He looked up at the sky, and then looked down at the ground. Is the sound from the sky or the earth? Or, maybe from both?

He lifted one arm with his palm facing the sky. “Bring the wind!” He waved his hand to bring a gust of gale.

“Let the rain come!” Wang Yao shouted. The rain suddenly appeared to be heavier.

He laughed as he looked up at the sky. He did it for no reason.

Woof! Woof! San Xian barked as if he was saying, “Are you crazy?”

“Go back to your dog house to rest,” Wang Yao said with a smile as he patted San Xian’s head.

The rain stopped after midnight. The sun rose early the next morning.

After it rained in the empty valley, it became cold since it was fall. The air was very fresh after the rain.

Wang Yao went to his clinic. Before long, Zheng Shixiong came along.

“Good morning, Dr, Wang,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Good morning. Please take a seat. The decoction is ready. I’ll take the decoction to see your nephew with you,” Wang Yao said.

They went to Sun Yunsheng’s house with the decoction. Zheng Weijun was still lying on the bed unconscious.

“Give him the decoction.” Wang Yao advised the dose before

Mr. Wu gave a small bowl of decoction to the sleeping Zheng Weijun.

Wang Yao sat next to the bed and checked Zheng Weijun’s pulse every 30 minutes. Since the man was sleeping, Wang Yao couldn’t ask him any questions.

“When do you think he will wake up?” Zheng Shixiong asked.

“Tomorrow morning,” Wang Yao said. “Let me know when he is awake.”

“OK,” Zheng Shixiong said.

After making sure Zheng Weijun had no big issues, Wang Yao left the house.

As soon as Wang Yao left, Mr. Wu checked Zheng Weijun again.

“Uncle Wu, how is he?” Zheng Shixiong asked.

“The decoction is very effective! It’s amazing,” Mr. Wu said.

As a doctor, he knew immediately whether the pills were working or not. He was also a traditional Chinese medical practitioner. As soon as he checked Zheng Weijun’s pulse, he had a good idea of the effect of the decoction.

“Where is the decoction?” Mr. Wu asked.

“Here,” Zheng Shixiong said.

Mr. Wu tasted a bit of the decoction himself. “It contains ginseng, gorgon, wolfberry, Solomon’s seal, and ganoderma. No! It wouldn’t have worked so well if it only contained these herbs. What else is inside?” He frowned since he couldn’t figure out the components of the decoction.

“Uncle Wu, don’t worry too much about the components,” Zheng Shixiong said.

“Well, I’m just obsessed with herbs,” Mr. Wu said with a smile.

He had once tried to figure out the components of a decoction he obtained from a student of the King Pharmacist. It took him a long time to study the decoction. He told himself he had to know the components, but he failed in the end. He was now facing the same situation.

“He is such an extraordinary young doctor. He has my respect,” Mr. Wu said.

“Let’s stop talking about him and have some tea.” Zheng Shixiong made Mr. Wu a cup of tea. “I just did some search online about this village last night. Do you know the village was in big trouble a short while ago.”
