“What are you getting at here?” Edge Mountain Crone’s eyes flashed menacingly.

Eight-treasure might be the strongest in the alliance but she had no fear due to her excellent cultivation.

“Haha, nothing, I was just joking, Senior.” Eight-treasure Monarch laughed and tried to de-escalate the situation. He came for the treasures, not to fight this old ancestor.

He turned back at Furious Wind’s group and bowed: “Congratulations, your ancestral weapons have returned. It is a blessing to the entire alliance.”

The group exchanged glances upon hearing this. Normally, one would be elated to receive congratulations but they knew this was not a good thing.

“Monarch, you are mistaken, nothing like that is happening.” Furious Wind denied.

“What? Was I just seeing things? That can’t be because we’re neighbors, there’s no need to hide anything between us.” Eight-treasure said.

“Monarch, we have never seen the weapons, so there must be a misunderstanding here.” The first elder told a half-truth.

“Saber King, Elder, I saw the two beams earlier and knew they had to be your weapons. Both Insane Spear and Furious Immortal Sword.” Eight-treasure smiled.

“You read it wrong, because look at us, we are empty-handed.” Furious Wind shook his head.

Eight-treasure scanned the group again and sure enough, there was no divine weapon nearby.

“If you don’t have them, they must still be in the shrine. Virtuous King must have stored them here during her seclusion.” Eight-treasure turned around and focused on the shrine.

The first elder took a deep breath and said: “Please don’t laugh at us but generations of our sect have searched for it to no avail. The shrine has nothing.”

“Hahaha, the timing wasn’t right before but now, they must be ready to appear.” Eight-treasure laughed.

“Would we still be standing here right now if that’s the case?” The first elder said.

“We can find out soon enough by searching now, if they are there, it will be a joyous event for the ancient alliance.” Eight-treasure said.

Furious Wind and the elders immediately stood between the monarch and Li Shrine.

“Monarch, I’m afraid outsiders cannot enter Li Shrine.” Furious Wind said: “This is our holy ground and the resting place of Virtuous King.”

There was no precedence for this since it had been abandoned. Mortals and outsiders were free to enter. Alas, this was no longer the case.

Although they couldn’t come inside Li Shrine, it didn’t mean they would let anyone else have entrance.

“And if I insist?” Eight-treasure smiled, putting his cultivation and status into full use.

“Monarch, our alliance has been close since the start of time, a holy pact written by our holy ancestors. Your insistence goes against the very core of our beliefs.” The first elder said.

“Looks like Eight-treasure Gate’s wings are grown enough to think about leaving the alliance.” Edge Mountain Crone sneered.

Although it sounded like an insult, she represented Resting Bull Mountain in this issue.

“Haha, they are too strong now to mingle with our sects, it’s understandable.” The daoist added.

The monarch’s expression changed after hearing this. Although his sect was the strongest, it was not ready to leave the alliance.

This put him in a difficult position. Rushing into the shrine meant antagonizing both Insane Gate and the other members. They could face heavy pressure from the rest.

“Boom!” His thoughts were interrupted by a chariot grinding through the air.

It exuded golden particles, seemingly adding a layer of light to everything beneath. The chariot seemed to be made from gold, giving an air of grandeur and nobility.

“Ancient Step.” Everyone became alarmed.

The chariot landed near Li Shrine. A young man with a regal aura appeared, looking like a domineering ruler. When he stood up, mountains and clouds could be pushed away by his mere presence.

Eight-treasure and the others felt a strong pressure hitting their chest.

“Sky Step King!” Eight-treasure uttered the newcomer’s title.

He was the first brother of Ancient Step and a direct disciple of Beneficence Grand Emperor.

Ancient Step was the strongest lineage outside of Splendor City and was rumored to have a relationship with Enigma.

It didn’t suffer the same decline as the members of the alliance and most importantly, it had a living Grand Emperor - Beneficence.

Without any progenitor, it couldn’t deal with monsters such as the great great dynasties. Nevertheless, it was a monster compared to the ancient alliance.
