Chapter 246: Immortal-Cutter Flying Dagger?
Meow?
Trumbo’s jet-black eyes were bulging roundly with a look of curiosity filling its feline face.
It purred a few things, mouthing something unintelligible in cat language, while Dumbo stood on its rear legs, holding its front paws at its hip as it smugly said, “No need, I have already grasped Sky Daemon Invincibility up to initiate level. In days, I would ascend up to rank-eight, and be able to kill a rank-nine at any given time.”
Meow!Trumbo looked utterly envious, and it lay on the ground, dipping its head several times, before rising and carving several words into the ground with its blade, “Kowtowing to you, bro.”
Dumbo stared at the words on the ground for a while before slapping Trumbo on the head, barking, “What the hell? Why is a cat daemon like you acting all cultured for? Don’t you know daddy can’t read?”
“…”
Jiang He couldn’t help laughing.
What was this?
The silly ones gain silly blessings?
Dumbo could neither read nor count, and wouldn’t make kindergarten if it were assessed with human education. After all, it’s no big deal for kindergarten children to count up to 100 now, as well as simple calculation and abacus. And yet, that dog which could not read a word of the Sky Daemon Invincibility grasped it after simply listening to it, and then cultivated to initiate levels.
As for Dumbo’s mention of rank-eight killing rank-nine…
Jiang He actually thought that Dumbo was being a little humble.
Leaving aside having cultivated a daemonic technique, Dumbo certainly could punch above its tier if it was up against the bumbling Ferals which only ever fought with their brute strength. Since the dog had learned swordplay and Ucchusma Stonebreaker Palm amongst many other techniques, how could killing rank-nines not be a simple matter?
Ignoring Dumbo and Trumbo just then, Jiang He strode towards the graves.
At first, the twentyish graves were piled together and looked very weird, but after the oily green but varied grave grasses had grown, they gained an atypical sort of beauty.
Jiang He’s eyes then reached one particular grave.
A small half-meter tree had grown, and had borne fruits resembling fiery-red tomatoes. Their shape differed from ordinary tomatoes, however, and it had the pattern of a blazing fire on its skin when Jiang He looked closer.
[Ding!]
[+500 Farm Points.]
Jiang He plucked one of the tomatoes, held it in front of his eyes, and studied it carefully as a cluster of data appeared.
[Blazing Tomato]
[A crop that grew from the essence of a pinnacle A-class fire-type Awakened. Users gain A-class novice fire-type powers after consumption.]
Jiang He was taken aback.
Blazing…
Tomato?
Why did that name sound so awkward?
Still, awkwardness aside, the function of that red tomato was basically unnatural.
After all, floral spirits that aided the awakening of superpowers were extremely rare. Moreover, those that did help only provided a certain chance for awakening after consumption. On the other hand, the chance of awakening fire-type powers after consuming the Blazing Tomato was one hundred percent.
Moreover, obtaining A-class novice powers upon consumption meant those three tomatoes could instantly develop three fire-type Awakened, with equivalent abilities to rank-seven grandmasters.
“Was this the grave of the Sky Demon Cult’s Fifth Elder?”
“I didn’t really pay attention when I killed him. Was he a fire-type Awakened?”
[Ding!]
[+500 Farm Points.]
[Ding!]
[+500 Farm Points.]
Jiang He hence plucked the three Blazing Tomatoes, happily putting them in his System Backpack.
He had no use for those things since he, Dumbo, and Trumbo had already awakened fire-type powers anyway.
“I could give Sora one. Cooking would be more convenient after she awakened fire-type powers.”
“As for the remaining two…”
Jiang He remembered Wang Siyu just then.
He had not seen the lass for some time; he could give one to her.
As for the last one, he would keep it for now.
After that, Jiang He went to the grave of the Sentinel of the Left.
A tuft of green grass with weirdly-shaped leaves was growing over it, each resembling long, thin combat blades.
[Ding!]
[+100 Farm Points.]
Once again, Jiang He plucked it and held it in front of himself, with a series of data materializing.
[Twelve Leafed Sword Will Grass]
???
Question marks showed up all over Jiang He’s face.
What the heck?
Is this a counterfeit of Sword Will Grasses?
Though it was a treasure in its own right, his grasp over Sword Will was already complete and it was useless for him. That said, since Trumbo could use it after reaching rank-eight after having learnt blade techniques.
Rearing a cat that had grasped blade will as a pet…
It was outstanding even when hearing it.
Jiang He then turned towards the graves of the Sky Demon Cult’s two sentinels. A small fruit tree had bloomed from the graves, atop of which an unripe fruit was growing.
Truth be told, Jiang He was rather disappointed.
Was that it?
And here he was thinking that the so-called Sky Demon Arcanum would grow out of these two fellows’ graves. He would able to study it for a bit to see if he could discover something if that happens—would it not be easier to kill any sky demons if they really came then?
Nonetheless, he reached out and plucked one of the unripe fruits.
[Ding!]
[+10,000 Farm Points.]
What the hell?
Jiang He was astonished… 10,000 Farm Points? The fruit must be extraordinary, given its high value!
He stared at the fruit in his hand, and data appeared—
[Divine-tier Fruit]
[Martial artists and awakened who consume this would gain a certain chance of success when attempting ascension to divine-tier.]
Damn it!
Jiang He was speechless.
“Celebrated for nothing. And here I thought what treasure it would be… what use is this anyway?”
A certain chance of success when attempting ascension to divine-tier might sound awesome… but what use was adding a chance to it? And who knows what is the rate of said chance?
Moreover, reaching divine-tier was a simple matter.
All one had to do was find the divine door, and combine spirit and mind to break it. If a martial arts newbie like him could succeed accidentally, the other senior martial artists…
“Hmmm…”
“Alright, maybe those senior martial artists need that very much?”
For example, old Long Mountain Lin of Sichuan’s Lin clan had originally reached the end of his lifespan, but still had no confidence in reaching divine-tier…
“That old man is a good person. I’ll talk to him on the phone for a bit after this, and sell this to him if he really can’t ascend. Either way, this thing is not useful to me.”
Jiang He put away the two Divine-tier Fruits for now.
As for the remaining grave grass…
They were all graves of rank-eight individuals anyway and nothing much to look at. He could leave those to Dumbo and Trumbo to clean them up.
“Okay.”
“Well, I have to fix a standard now: all corpses below rank-nine can be dumped—planting them is not worth it.”
Meanwhile, the sky was already brightly lit.
The sun had risen over the east, showering a ray of sun into Jiang He’s farm.
After some thought, Jiang He took out the pitch-black bottle gourd he got from the Graywolf King’s corpse.
To tell the truth, Jiang He was very interested in the bottle gourd.
It could release air blades once Daemon Qi was infused, and the blades were not weak. In fact, Jiang He could not help remembering the Immortal-Cutter Flying Dagger, the treasure belonging to Lu Ya, a prominent figure of the daemonic race spoken about in divine myths!
The daemonic weapon, Immortal-Cutter Flying Dagger…
Even so, Jiang He wondered if that item was actually a counterfeit mystic item some daemonic eminence crafted in ancient times, based on the Immortal-Cutter Flying Dagger.
Other factors notwithstanding, that was very likely.
Without a word, Jiang He began to dig.
Who cared if the Immortal-Cutter Flying Dagger was a fake? He would plant it before anything else.
Yup.
He directly poured in an entire bag of Mysterious Soil. Not only would it purify the Daemon Qi, it also strengthened the item to a certain extent—so, why not?
