The Martial Arts Department (MAD) of Lingzhou City.

Duan Tianhe only finished his work at two in the afternoon. Circulating his True Qi, he dispelled some fatigue off his body. He had neither rested nor slept for over ten days now.

After taking a moment to call for food delivery, he called his superior whist waiting and briefed him about the situation.

Carefree laughter echoed from the other end. “Didn’t you mention that there aren’t any suitable candidates for Director of Lingzhou City’s Martial Arts Academy (MAA)? I think Jiang He fits the bill. He’s young, competent, and driven to improve. Moreover, he has been to university, whereas us martial artists are ever uncivilized. You could have him try.”

All fatigue promptly left Duan Tianhe’s body as he straightened up. “That’s not really acceptable… Jiang He… he… he’s too young!”

What nonsense was that?

Let Jiang He become a MAA director?

Once he remembered what Jiang He had been doing recently…

Duan Tianhe was afraid that he would spirit away the entire academy somewhere unknown when he wasn’t looking.

Although he did manage to come up with a suitable reason after stuttering for a while, a bellow echoed from the other end, “Duan Tianhe—”

Beep!

The call was cut off. Duan Tianhe, however, felt very relieved. That was fine.

Thud, thud, thud.

There was a knock on his door, and Bai Feifei entered with a dark look on her face.

“There has been a complication in the mission, Chief Duan,” she said.

“What’s up?” asked Duan Tianhe, frowning. “I’ve already sent some men to keep an eye on those three moles from the Sky Demon Cult. They are just one Awakened with D-class superstrength, one C-class water-type Awakened, and a rank-five novice martial artist. With Pudgy Jiang’s men helping us, how can there be complications?”

Bai Feifei showed him a pained smile. “The D-class superstrength was executed on the spot, whereas the rank-five novice martial artist took his own wife and child hostage, and leapt into the Yellow River with the water-type Awakened near Yellow River Park.”

“Only the animals of the Sky Demon Cult could do something like taking their own family hostage!” growled Duan Tianhe, his eyes flashing. “Spread the word and start a widespread search. Those two animals must be found. You know how savage the Sky Demon cultists are. When they come back to infiltrate Linzhou City again, they could cause major trouble.”

His orders were hence relayed.

“Oh, right. Where is Cheng Dongfeng?” asked Duan Tianhe.

“Master Cheng locked himself in the cultivation chamber since ten o’clock yesterday. He said that he is not coming out until he reaches rank-seven,” replied Bai Feifei.

Duan Tianhe laughed himself silly.

That old thing went into seclusion? Could he be afraid that Jiang He would nag at him, asking for another spar?

Still, this was a good thing. Cheng Dongfeng was one of their strongest and most talented rank-sixes, Lingzhou City would have a great addition to their strength if he could make a breakthrough.

Nonetheless, Duan Tianhe started to rub his temples, feeling bothered again.

“Old Cheng is a disciple of the Eight Trigrams School, even if he did join the MAD. He would probably be recalled to headquarters if he really ascended, so I have to come up with something to keep him here.”

There were many concerns that surfaced with the establishment of the MAD, especially with the recent citizen migration projects implemented for citizens living deep in the mountains. It was in its last phase now, and the police, MAD, as well as the military had to work together.

In line with the higher-ups’ planning, every population must be centralized within thirty kilometers of all major cities. They could neither manage nor protect them if the population was exceedingly sparse, not to mention that there was a chance for some of the remote cities to be abandoned where possible.

In addition, the government had called for a press conference on the eighth of September to announce the Revival of Qi!

On that day, the monumental news was spread all over the globe.

“It has been confirmed that the island nation attacked by a monster from the ocean has completely fallen, and is now a playground for Ferals.”

Soon, more news began to spread.

Likewise, the Hua Nation’s vast territory, abundant resources, and many untouched forests, lakes, and rivers led to the birth of many ferocious Ferals. Thus, incidents of Feral attacks on populated areas were on the rise.

To calm the public, a video was released on the afternoon of the ninth of September. The footage was captured at Jinghong City, which was close to the tropical ravine of the Yun Province. The city itself was in ruins, atop of which countless Ferals prowled.

One of them was an ape that stood over forty meters tall and was the size of a hill. Its fur was pitch-black, and its bellow left the world quaking in its wake. It was also using a tower as its weapon to devastating effect.

Nonetheless, a single figure stood before the ape.

The man was wearing a Chinese tunic suit. With a point of his finger, Sword Qi raged over heaven and earth before a single blade, over a thousand-meters in length, descended and promptly sliced through the black ape.

The video ended there. It was then followed by various articles about martial artists and superhumans.

Back at Jinyintan Village, Jiang He was left a little shocked in his own yard. He pocketed his phone, his mind filled with images of one blade…

So cool.

So powerful.

Eating a walnut whole with its shell and slightly improving his spirit, Jiang He looked inside himself at the luminous sword in his head…

Only

“I don’t have to envy him. It’s not like I don’t have swords. After confining myself in my own house to earn farm points, I finally achieved my second and third mini objectives.”

His Blind Princess’ Eight Practices was now at Second Practice, and he had mastered six out of the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms.

Two mini objectives left: Grow an impressive blade for fighting, as well as a cool and powerful swordplay manual!

He then took a look at his phone to check the time…

“What the heck? I have transmigrated for two weeks, haven’t I? Why hasn’t the gift pack for the second week been awarded yet?”

But even as Jiang He complained…

“Ding!”

A System Notification jingled in his head.
