Grandpa Su’s eyes instantly widened. “You…”

Yue Tingfeng added, “She’s not the one who can’t let go of me. I’m the one who can’t let go of her. Looking for her won’t do you any good. You should talk nicely to me, but that’s pointless too. After all, I like her, and I’m not letting her go so easily.”

“You…”

Yue Tingfeng did not give Grandpa Su the liberty of finishing his sentence but interrupted him instead. “Grandpa, I know her than you do. After all, I’m the one who slept with her. No one knows her as much as I do.”

He made direct eye contact with the old man. Their gaze was level, and Yue Tingfeng was not even afraid.

Yue Tingfeng knew what the old man wanted to say, but Yue Tingfeng himself was steadfast.

The old man was his maternal grandfather—the father of his mother. As good as the elderly man’s intentions were, his perception of Yan Qingsi was misunderstood.

Yue Tingfeng respected Grandpa Su, but he had his own unwavering principles.

Grandpa Su berated. “You’re a son. Your mother nearly died for that girl, and now you’re still arguing on behalf of her? That woman has blinded you. Are you only going to realize that after you watch her kill your mother?”

Yue Tingfeng’s voice became frigid immediately. “Grandpa, everyone has a choice. I’m a man who’s nearing my thirties. I am well aware of the kind of person my woman is. She’s complicated and dangerous. I know that, and my mother knows too, but we like her as a person. Plus, she’s much better than you think. She’s much better than what everyone thinks.”

Putting on a stern face, Grandpa Su asked, “Tingfeng, do you really know Yan Qingsi that well? Do you know about all the things she did in the past? I’m not one to harshly criticize the younger generation, but she’s not a good fit for you. She’s too devious and too sly. If she really marries you, who’s to guarantee that she wouldn’t target your mother?”

Yue Tingfeng’s expression turned cold. “Are you forcing me to break up with her?”

Grandpa Su huffed and said, “I’m not forcing you. I’m just telling you that you can’t be with her. You can’t be with her even if it’s for your mother. It’s no big deal if she’s a good person, but she’s not. She’s only with you because she has plans against you. Being with her endangers yourself and your mother.”

The old man’s bias against Yan Qingsi was rooted deep.

He recently heard some bad things said about Yan Qingsi, but he always felt that a good lady should not immerse herself in the entertainment industry.

If she was truly a proper person, she would not have been the subject of such scurrilous remarks. Such allegations would not have surfaced for no good reason, and there must have been some truth behind it.

Thus, even though he heard that Yan Qingsi mounted a counterattack to clear her name, Grandpa Su still believed that Yan Qingsi was unclean.

Yue Tingfeng listened until the old man finished talking. He remained emotionless throughout.

He then said, “My mother’s now fifty this year. Although she’s always been kind and pure, she knows how to distinguish between right and wrong without acting rashly. You chose the wrong path for her, yet she walked that path and persevered in her own way. She’s much wiser than any of you.

“You’ve already dictated the first half of her life, so, please… don’t simply make decisions for her in the latter half of her life. She has the right to choose her future daughter-in-law and make decisions for herself.”
