Ji Mianmian opened her eyes wide and forgot her bout of tears. She watched on as Ye Shaoguang— who maintained a composed mien— smashed the fat man’s head with the wine bottle.

The fat man did not regain consciousness. He froze there, dazed, with blood spurting out from his forehead.

Other people from the private room began coming out of their stupor. All of them stood up and pointed at Ye Shaoguang, reproaching him.

He took out his wallet and removed a stack of yuan notes, which he simply threw in the wind. “For your medical bills.”

The red yuan notes fluttered down like rose petals gently making their descent from the air.

Ye Shaoguang brought Ji Mianmian away, leaving behind a group of discombobulated people.

Once he dragged her down the stairs, he huffed coldly, “When you’re with me, you throw me down whenever you like, so why did you ball up into a bundle of fear just now?”

Ji Mianmian looked at Ye Shaoguang. Her reddened eyes were reminiscent of a child. She grasped Ye Shaoguang’s hand, asking, “What am I going to do? There’s no news of my Big Sis Qingsi yet. I didn’t protect her. I’m useless…”

People tend to forget everything in their moments of despair. That was the case for Ji Mianmian, who forgot everything, including the skills that she had.

Nothing could get into her at the moment, as her brain was filled only with thoughts of Yan Qingsi’s disappearance and kidnapping.

Ye Shaoguang initially felt like poking fun at her, but seeing her being bullied and feeling despondent, his heart could not help but turn to mush.

He pressed his hand on Ji Mianmian’s head and said, “I’ll help you rescue Yan Qingsi, but you have to agree to one more promise.”

A flash of light appeared in Ji Mianmian’s eyes. She replied, “If you can save her, I’ll promise you that one more. Even if it’s a hundred promises, I’ll give them all to you.”

Ji Mianmian was aware that she lacked mental capacity. Relying on herself alone, she knew that it was impossible to save Yan Qingsi.

Ye Shaoguang however, was different. He was smarter than her, and there was no doubt he could save her.

Curling his lip, he ran his thumb through Ji Mianmian’s lips. It was soft and slightly cold.

Ye Shaoguang leaned forward and kissed the corner of Ji Mianmian’s eyes, extending his tongue to lap up a tear coming out from her eye.

All Ji Mianmian heard was a low voice coming from beside her ear. “Okay. These are your own words, Ji Mianmian. You need to have integrity. I let you sleep with me without getting anything in return, and now I’m helping you too. You need to understand what gratitude means.”

Ye Shaoguang teased her on purpose, but it did not affect Ji Mianmian at the time.

Her mind was filled only with… Yan Qingsi, Yan Qingsi.

‘Please don’t let anything happen to my goddess, please! Please!’

Ye Shaoguang hauled Ji Mianmian onto the car and drove her to the hotel he stayed at.

Along the way, Ji Mianmian said, “How are you going to save my sis? Go, quickly.”

Ye Shaoguang answered. “I’ve already promised you. I won’t go back on my words…”

Ji Mianmian said anxiously, “But you lied to me last time.”

“Last time? Last time, if it wasn’t for me, Yan Qingsi wouldn’t be able to make that counterattack, now would she? You know what, forget it. You wouldn’t understand it even if I told you.”

Throughout the entire process of Yan Qingsi’s vilification and subsequent counterattack, Ye Shaoguang was involved in it. He may be a cunning and deceitful person, but… he did everything that he promised Ji Mianmian.

She had much still to say, but Ye Shaoguang lowered his head and covered her mouth.

“Remember what you said today. Ji Mianmian… I’m not one to be provoked. If you do provoke me, don’t even think about getting away in one piece.”
