Chapter 265: Obvious Choice

Sylas had smelt the scent of death before; he and death might as well have been called old friends by now. And yet, at this moment, he had never felt such a striking sense of inferiority in his life.

[Luck: 22]

Almost the instant he felt this, his body also erupted into a rain of blood. Pain the likes of which he had never felt before threatened to tear him apart.

It was too much. The Basilisk King had grown too powerful.

Sylas fell to a knee, coughing up a mouthful of blood. According to his upgraded Paths, he should be able to keep this transformation up for eight minutes, and yet, with things being like this, he wasn’t even sure if he could last ten seconds.

However, the Arctic Emperor Cobra was already upon him. It was so infuriated that it had directly crushed its remaining subordinates, not caring about their lives in the slightest, as it swiped a tail toward Sylas.

Even with his new stats, Sylas somehow still felt as insignificant as an ant. This creature couldn’t be described with normal common sense, and facing off against it felt more like he was facing off against an enemy of a lifetime, not a thing, but an entire world. All the Aether in the space seemed to mobilize toward the creature’s call, and a single swipe of its tail looked like an FFF- Skill in its own right despite the fact Sylas knew for a fact that it hadn’t circulated any technique whatsoever.

A green flame flickered deep in Sylas’ eyes as he leapt back.

BOOM!

The ground split and crumbled as though a meteor had just landed.

Sylas’ eyes couldn’t help but widen. He had never seen such damage before, even with a Skill being activated, let alone without one being used.

The hissing howl of the cobra.

Sylas directly ignored it, bringing out four ballista bolts and throwing them out with fierce momentum.

They ripped forward with devastating Strength. In his state, they had almost 650 Physical.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

They echoed as they shattered against the Arctic Emperor Cobra’s body.

Sylas could see the power of them, and even the Arctic Emperor Cobra was forced to reel back. However, while it did, and some of its scales cracked, it might as well have been a papercut to it.

Sylas coughed up another mouthful of blood, his own body falling apart on him. But with gritted teeth and blood flowing down their crevices, he began to unleash a maddened assault.

His fists, coated in green, launched violent punch after violent punch. At the same time, there was a rain of ballista bolts falling down all at the same time.

Each attack hit the Arctic Emperor Cobra like an explosion of force, its body becoming riddled with cracked skulls and leaking violet blood.

However, Sylas’ situation seemed to only become worse all the while.

The Arctic Emperor Cobra didn’t seem to be good at attacking either, and being forced back by Sylas’ rain of assaults, it couldn’t close in for a tail whip.

However, it didn’t seem to matter. If things continued like this, Sylas wouldn’t even be able to stand on his own.

Even so, the burning will in his eyes only seemed to grow more and more violent.

He had long since cast <Voice of a King>, layering it on top of the <Voice of a King> that the Basilisk King had cast much earlier. And, his BOSS Slayer Title was in overdrive, boosting him by a further 10%.

The green fist imprints rushing out from him in a torrent began to blaze like fire, as did the ballista bolts raining down from the skies.

For the first time, the Arctic Emperor Cobra actually began to smell hints of danger. It had been fiending for a chance to slay Sylas, but the bounds of the system had kept it in place. But now that it actually had such a chance, this happened instead.

In that moment, when it looked at the golden vertical slit eyes high above Sylas’ head, it began to feel true fear. It was as though only in this moment did it realize that it was facing off against a Legendary Vipermancer.

Sylas suddenly coughed up another mouthful of blood. All the color from his face drained and he stumbled. His unerring momentum faltered and he fell to a knee again, feeling his vision swim.

He coughed again, but the mad light in his eyes didn’t fade. He didn’t have another Healing Elixir, having used both of them up. But he still swallowed up three more Simple Healing Elixirs.

The Arctic Emperor Cobra howled again, and suddenly, something that was to Sylas’ benefit happened.

The Domain shattered.

The cobra Emperor had summoned this Domain a long while ago. It couldn’t possibly be that its Aether was endless, especially since it was covering an entire 100-meter range. In fact, the only reason it had lasted this long to begin with was because the world seemed to be helping it. Sylas didn’t know what was so special about this creature, but it seemed capable of exchanging a very small amount of Aether for exceptional results.

But it clearly had its own limits, or else instead of attacking Sylas with its tail earlier, it would have used another attack of some sort.

Just when Sylas wanted to think that his luck was finally turning for the better, he noticed something else that made his heart sink.

Arrows suddenly flew through the skies, cutting across the thick shrubbery of the trees, and all of them were aimed at Sylas.

Looking at these arrows, Sylas understood what was happening. There were two ways to clear this Quicktime Event. One of them was killing the Level 12 beast whose Grade you couldn’t even see…

And the other was killing the Level 0 who seemed to be on his last legs.

The choice was obvious.

And it infuriated Sylas.
