Genetic Ascension
chapter-455

Demon villages didn't have the usual expected setup. They didn't have women and children in the normal sense, or more accurately, any women they did have were soldiers and warriors just like the rest.

As one might expect, then, they didn't reproduce normally either. Much like Dens and Mount Steles, they spawned. But unlike Dens and Mounts, their spawning was based on something known as Conqueror Points.

The more territory they claimed and controlled, the more Conqueror Points they'd have, and the more chances at evolution and increasing their army size.

But... by the same token...

If their City Stele was suddenly conquered...

...

Sylas stood over a cracked City Stele as it crumbled into motes of light. He didn't hesitate to turn it into Experience.

He had expected to earn quite a lot because these villages were quite powerful. Although most of their warriors were gone, he didn't think that that would affect the worth of their City Steles.

However, he only gained 30,000 total Free Experience. The price exchange was just the same as the first pig demon village he conquered.

That said...

[Taboo Bond]

[Level: 6]

[Experience: 0/40,000]

[Path Talent: Extricate Lv6]

[Extricate (Path Talent)]

[>Extricate <F-Rank Gold> Genes]

[>Extricate <F-Rank Bronze> Gene Talents]

It seemed that it was going to take a lot more to be able to play around with Legendary Genes. But honestly, the fact that he was so close with a mere Level 6 Profession went a long way to showing just how powerful Taboo Bond was.

'Maybe there's a flat Experience gained regardless of the Level of the City Stele. Unless it's an E-Grade Village, or a Bronze Grade one, I won't get more than 10,000 Experience...'

At least that was how it seemed now. But that was fine.

He would just have to slowly wring out all the potential of his Path one step after another. At the same time, he would look out for powerful Serpentes beasts. Clearly, that would be the easiest way to accumulate a large number of Experience in a short time.

Sylas, with Nosphaleen and Sunniva in tow, disappeared into the night, leaving the village in their wake.

Because there were so few demons left behind to defend, they didn't gain much from the village itself. Compared to Sylas' current wealth, the coins were worthless, and the treasures were unimpressive.

Sunniva was having a hard time keeping up, but every time it looked like she was about to collapse, Sylas gave her a nutrition pill.

As for Nosphaleen, although her Physical stats were basically half his own, she was very adept at using her large amount of Aether to counter those weaknesses, so she needed to be replenished much less often.

"We'll rest here. Come the morning, we'll check out the situation again. I'll give you four hours."

He could only put off sleep for so long. Plus, he had another card to play.

"He will be our guard."

Sylas summoned the Basilisk King. Although the Arctic Emperor Cobra had far higher stats, the Basilisk King would have far more resistance to Nosphaleen's charm. If something were to go wrong, Sylas trusted the Basilisk King to handle it better.

Then, he entered a state of meditation, slowly falling into a deep sleep.

Within his body, his cells fired, and his synapses formed new connections. This was the first time he had slept in almost a week. He had severely underestimated just how much his body needed this.

Slowly, his will began to complete the last stretch of its advancement, solidifying itself within the Realm of Tangibility.

...

Lucius was still stunned by what was happening. The powerful demons seemed to have become kittens in their hands. As they slaughtered the last of them, he looked off into the distance, being informed by Wilfred that there were more parties watching from the sidelines.

However, because of the scene they saw before them, they didn't dare to step forward any longer.

Lucius' face twisted into a slight sneer, but inwardly, his heart was pounding rapidly. It wasn't because of these people, but because he wasn't stupid.

He knew that this had to be because of Sylas, and he could guess what triggered it.

But how did Sylas know which villages to target? Even if the Quest numbered them, it didn't give locations even to him, the Originator.

Unfortunately, Lucius didn't know about the mission system of cities. Otherwise, he would have guessed immediately.

Even so, this made Sylas even more unfathomable in his eyes.

They had already been thrown several challenges in this Multi Quest, but Sylas made it all feel

So...

Easy.

[Leg 005 Cleared]

[Leg 006]

[The plot of your enemies has been thwarted and a penalty has sanctioned them. This will be a

free round. Deal as much Damage against them as you can within 3 days]

>[The allies of Ebonspire will be restricted to a 10-kilometer radius of their city]

>[The secret support of Ebonspire will be cursed to inaction]

Lucius' eyes brightened like torches. It was no wonder they didn't attack. In fact, they were

being forced to retreat.

If Lucius had Rune Soul, or at least Rune Enlightenment, he would be able to see the restrictions of the system falling from the skies above. They couldn't even resist as their bodies practically moved on their own, returning to their individual holdings.

This wasn't just for the humans of the Ravenclaw family, but the Sylphs of the System City as

well.

All of a sudden, the pressure the Grimblades were facing receded like a tide. Lucius stood to his full height, his saber dripping with demon blood as he looked off with a serious expression. Then, either subconsciously or on purpose, he looked toward Nathan.

Right then, he saw an expression on Nathan that he had never seen before. The man was a prankster and jokester down to his very bones. But right now...

He was unprecedentedly solemn.

And the both of them knew that this had nothing to do with Leg 006.

It was all because of one man.

Sylas Grimblade.
