Genetic Ascension

chapter-485
Sylas sat in silent meditation, trying to recall that feeling from earlier.
Before, he had been communicating with the Arctic Emperor Cobra through their link, sensing the changes in its body, and controlling it with great purpose.
However, that feeling of controlling something that wasn't his body so precisely left him in an elevated state.
Then, he had even felt like his eyes and that of the Arctic Emperor Cobra's felt like they were one in that same moment.
It was a feeling that was nigh impossible to describe, almost as though he was floating on a cloud in a far-off distant land, and yet had full control of his original body at the same time.[Quest Received]

[>Create an FFF- <Madness Control> Skill]
[Common Reward Requirements]
[>Create an FFF <Madness Control> Skill]It had been a long while since he received this Quest, but he had made no headway at all until that moment.
He had no foundation or understanding in creating Skills. Manipulating already existing Skills was one thing. But crafting them from scratch? That was more than a little bit of a stretch for him.
Truthfully, Sylas was underestimating himself. Being so close to Rune Essence, and having absorbed more Genes through Extricate than he cared to count, by now he had a deep enough understanding of his Aether Pathways and Runes to create a few weaker tier Skills.
The problem, though, was that this Quest wanted him to create an FFF- Skill which was still a far cry from his current abilities.
However... Skills were created through four paths.
The first were experts of higher order. The second was through the system itself. The third was through alterations in Genes that could happen through Classes or Professions. And finally, the fourth...
Sudden enlightenment.
Sylas sat in complete silence, a web of thoughts forming in his mind.
Subconsciously, he began to think about Fusion again. But this time, the actual process of it. He recalled every sensation of his body's composition changing.
Thoughts of <Cryobane Elevation> flashed in his mind as well, and the bout of enlightenment only seemed to deepen.
His interaction with Grin led him to one conclusion. The man was definitely relying on a Gene Skill to become invisible like that. There was no normal skill that could possibly allow such a thing. And even further than that, it was almost certainly related to a high-level Class as well.
He believed that Grin's Class was at least Silver, if not Gold.
But that also awakened him to another fact. Compared to most, he was far ahead. Compared to the truest hidden experts, though, he had fallen behind. Or, maybe, he had never caught up to them in the first place.
He knew the Grimblades certainly had more experts hidden in the dark. The fact they could waste away time letting their three heir candidates fight it out like they did proved that they had something more substantial to rely on.
There was still Legacy and the governments on top of that. And that was all before he even began to factor in the Dogons and Clypsians, let alone those that had somehow managed to suppress them.
However, Sylas wasn't pissed about his luck. Now that he understood Earth was in a sort of a time lock, he also knew that he was likely not the only person who had experienced such losses in time.
In fact, he had a feeling that the people who had experienced such lapses in time were all among the most powerful... that was because losing such chunks of time required leaving the bounds of Earth, which would mean that anyone who did so was an existence who had stumbled onto opportunities no less than his.
This might even very well be the reason the time lock existed in the first place. They wanted to run those like Sylas into a corner. The more he chased the best opportunities, the more time he would lose until eventually...
He had nothing left.
A flickering green flame suddenly appeared around Sylas' body as his emotions seemed to reach a head. His Will manifested outside of his body in a way it never had before, but his focus was so great that he seemed to forget about everything around him.
Become Strong.
SHUUUU!
Something clicked and his <Madness Control> reached a deeper level. If before it had been at just barely the surface, it suddenly dove into his very organs themselves.
[Madness Control (FF+) (Skill) -> Madness Control (F) (Gene Skill)]
[Madness Control (F) (Gene Skill)] (Legendary Mastery)
[Your body is your temple and it listens to no commands other than your own. Now you have grasped a much deeper meaning of this truth]
[+10% to ALL Stats, Skills, Gene Skills, Profession Talents, and Titles]
Sylas blinked when he saw the result. The +10% seemed underwhelming, but when he saw what it applied to, he was a bit surprised. Even his Titles got a boost? Didn't that mean that this stat was stackable?
For example, his Skill Savant Title gave him +100% Intelligence. If he could get a 10% boost to it and a 10% boost to his Intelligence.
With how many Titles he had, if that happened across everything, all of a sudden what was a +50 to his stat points at best could easily snowball.
Sylas had only barely had this thought when something changed once again. He didn't even have the chance to look at his rewards for the Quest before his mind shook.
