Fine. Not every woman was compatible with a face like this.

The two of them walked into the canteen and Mo Liuxi saw Yan Su again. She was sitting by the window having breakfast with two other female classmates.

He looked away, collected his breakfast and found a seat by the window with Zhang Hongchuan.

“Do you see that girl? It’s Yan Su from the music faculty,” Zhang Hongchuan said softly. “She’s famous now. She’s all-natural, no plastic surgery at all. She is the prettiest girl of the faculty.”

Mo Liuxi thought to himself while he was eating. She looked natural but she was just too much of a gossip monger, a petty woman, and not to mention someone who liked to rat on others.

“I tried to court her last year.” Zhang Hongchuan laughed with embarrassment. “She rejected me though. She said that she had a boyfriend. I heard she’s single now, but I don’t think I’ll try again. With her talent, she could easily become the next pop queen.”

Mo Liuxi looked at him incredulously. “Don’t lower the standards of a pop queen. Okay?”

“Really!” Zhang Hongchuan was serious. “You haven’t heard her sing before, have you? She has a broad range. She handles her high notes really well and she switches between octaves seamlessly. Oh, and she writes her own songs. You know that super popular song, ‘When the Smoke Clears’? She wrote that herself. I heard it was an ode to her first love.”

Mo Liuxi asked, “Was she together with her first love for a long time?”

“I heard she had a boyfriend even before she came to Ximei. No one knows who he was though. We all thought she made it up to dissuade her pursuers.” Zhang Hongchuan sighed. “I can tell from her sorrowful lyrics that she once loved someone very deeply though.”

“I’m full now.” Mo Liuxi stood up.

“Hey, wait for me…”

Over the next few days, Mo Liuxi and Yan Su avoided one another. They didn’t even greet each other when they bumped into one another.

Luosang felt bad things turned out this way because of her. Luckily, Yan Su was out of the house a lot because of her busy schedule.

Luosang didn’t have any classes that day, so Nian Junting accompanied her to the maternity check-up.

“You stay with Liuxi now, so do you think you can patch things up between him and Yan Su?”

“Why do I feel like you’re acting like a matchmaker now?” Nian Junting was unhappy that Luosang was talking about Mo Liuxi all the time.

“Who are you calling a matchmaker?” Luosang glared at him. “Yan Su and Liuxi would never have that kind of relationship.”

“Since they won’t develop any romantic feelings for each other, what are you so worried about?” Nian Junting asked in annoyance. “They weren’t friends or family to begin with; they are just neighbors. Yan Su’s career is really taking off now, so I’m guessing that she will be moving away after graduating this semester. She will be flying all over, so she might not even have time to meet you, not to mention your little brother.”

Luosang was shocked. He made sense.

“All right. If you have so much spare energy, why don’t you spend some time thinking about our wedding? We’re getting married in half a month,” Nian Junting said. “Do you still remember that?”

“…Oh how time flies by.” Luosang was nervous just thinking about it. She felt like she was getting cold feet before the wedding.

“You haven’t been thinking about it, I’m guessing,” Nian Junting said unhappily.

At the hospital, Luosang was lying on the examination bed ready for her ultrasound. She was already five months pregnant but it was hard to make out her baby bump with her clothes covering it.

Nian Junting had made special arrangements for the hospital director to be present.

They were doing a 4D scan today, as he wanted to see the baby’s face.

However, the baby wasn’t cooperating. It’s arms and feet were obscuring the image of it’s face.

The doctor told Luosang to eat more chocolate and climb some stairs. After about an hour, the baby’s face was still covered. Luosang went on to climb more stairs until the afternoon, when they finally saw half of the baby’s face. By then, Luosang was panting with exhaustion.

Nian Junting was frustrated. “Our little princess isn’t cooperating at all.”

“Princess?” The doctor was surprised at what Nian Junting said.

Nian Junting saw the doctor frown and Luosang said timidly, “Don’t tell me it’s a baby boy.”

The ultrasound doctor laughed. The hospital director had told her they were important patients. She thought they were the hospital director’s relatives and most people wanted a baby boy, so she nodded her head happily.

Nian Junting stood up abruptly and pulled her to stand as well. “Impossible! Are you seeing it wrong? Did you mistake the umbilical cord as a little penis?”

The doctor’s face was dark. “I wouldn’t be qualified as a doctor if I can’t even differentiate that. It’s a baby boy.”

“Nonsense.” Blood was rushing to Nian Junting’s head. “Where’s the penis? I can’t see anything.”

“You’re not a professional.” The doctor frowned. “Anyway, let me get a colored scan report for you, although the picture might not be so clear.”

Nian Junting couldn’t believe his ears. He was still standing, frozen in his spot.

“I don’t understand. It was supposed to be a baby girl. How did it turn into a baby boy?

He was deeply affected. The pink and healthy baby girl was no longer. He had a naughty little boy now instead.

Someone had rained on his parade.

“Who said it was a girl?” The doctor was confused.

Nian Junting said, “I thought it was a girl.”

“…”

Luosang took the news much better than Nian Junting. It was still her child after all. Although a girl would be nice, boys were cute in their own ways too. It would only be problematic if her boy turned out like Nian Junting.

“This is your baby’s photo.” The doctor handed them the photo.

Nian Junting snatched it and took a closer look. He didn’t know how to interpret the photograph.

“You need to orientate yourself; these are the eyes and this is the nose,” the doctor said. “One side is covered by his hand.”

“So ugly,” Nian Junting commented and handed the photo over to Luosang.

Luosang rolled her eyes at him and looked at the photograph. She felt warm and content. “I think our baby is rather cute. Thank you, doctor.”

After the doctor continued to run a series of checks, Nian Junting’s mood turned rotten.

He was in a foul mood on the way home as well.

Back at the villa, Nian Xi was present. When she saw her brother’s face, she asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? You went to the doctor, right? Is anything wrong with the baby?”

“Nope.” Luosang shook her head helplessly. “The doctor just told us that it was a baby boy.”

“Oh, God.” Nian Xi inhaled sharply. “I don’t want a nephew that is as annoying as my brother.”
