Chapter 90: War And Conspiracy
“The issue concerning Devil’s Den can’t be delayed. We have to destroy the den immediately!” William could not allow a Devil’s Den to exist behind the City of Dawn.
The military fortress of the Iron Nation was already a grave threat, and the Nation was serious about going to war. If on top of that, a Devil’s Den was allowed to expand, it would spell the end of the City of Dawn.
With the problem of Devil’s Den on one side, and the oncoming war in version 1.0 on the other side, the City of Dawn would be sandwiched between two adversaries.
Especially when he had already triggered a mission and accepted…[Hidden Mission: Crisis in the territory with the discovery of a Devil’s Den]

My Lord, allow the soldiers to eradicate the den. I’m willing to be the vanguard.” Alec, the intelligence minister loudly shouted.“…” William glanced at the agitated Alec, and waved his hand as a signal for him to calm down.
If he allowed Alec to go to war and send many assassins with the same level as him, how many could he kill?
Since he was an intelligence-gathering assassin, it would be inappropriate for Alec to lead the vanguard troops.
He was not a true epic level warrior. If he encountered a warrior at the same level as himself, he would be rendered helpless.
Scarce resources must be very carefully used, only where they were needed the most. Assassins should never be sent to a battlefield. They had more important missions to do. Even if they could not assassinate the BOSS, they could disrupt the enemy behind their lines.
If the morale of the army was shaken, it could then be easily defeated.
The war in ”Gods’ did not mean total extermination of the enemy for victory. If the enemy commander died, the enemy soldiers would surrender, and victory would be achieved.
Only the players were not afraid to die. They did not care even if they died…
During an outbreak of guild wars, each player would at least perish three to four times.
William surveyed his four confidantes and said in a deep voice, “We have to deploy our troops but we have to plan properly and carefully. Iron Nation is on our back. If we deploy all our soldiers, they could take the opportunity to invade us.”
The situation had turned into a complicated one.
Besides the 50,000 slaves and commoners constructing the military fortress, Iron Nation had also deployed a legion with 3,000 soldiers.
It had created a sense of tension between the City of Dawn and the Iron Nation.
Nobody knew when the alliance between both of them could be broken.
If William deployed his soldiers, Iron Nation would get wind of it. Though a magic scroll was expensive, a high-level spy would be equipped with it, and William was unable to create a huge magical barrier for the city.
Hence, he was unable to stop information from leaking out.
Moreover, about 2,000 of the neutral slaves were actually spies. If they helped the Humans outside, the city gate would most likely fall.
“2132 hidden spies, 800 of them even has middle-level combat power. The Iron Nation is indeed unscrupulous.” William just took note of their names, appearances and addresses.
When the war would be declared, those spies’ time would be over. They would be taken into custody.
The time for their capture was not ripe yet.
He had to give Iron Nation the confidence that they could actually take over the City of Dawn with ease.
If William were to alert his enemy, death would await him. Iron Nation could send tens of legions to wipe out the City of Dawn, and the huge defensive bonus of the city wouldn’t be of any help.
“Why don’t we seek help from Princess Annie. We could ask her to send out her soldiers to guard the city? Iron Nation is not aware of your relationship with the princess.” Odom made a suggestion.
“Relationship? What relationship? What do you know?” William raised his brow. He had the same idea.
A Lord could dominate a discussion, but he also had to give his subordinates a chance to speak. It made them think that they were valued by the Lord.
It did not matter whether the subordinates were correct.
It did not matter whether their words were music to the Lord’s ears.
It did not matter at all!
The crux of the matter was that a Lord had to think of the conclusions and goals beforehand. He must not be led by his subordinates.
The discussion among the subordinates was important as it motivated them to work harder.
If the subordinate were to have the thoughts as William, he would give him an encouraging glance. If someone was not making sense, William would just listen without any rebuking. But he would not accept any absurd suggestion.
It created a constructive environment for discussion.
William was full of appreciation as he looked at Odom. He observed his confidantes and saw how many were in agreement with his proposal. Being satisfied, he nodded. “We’ll follow Odom’s suggestion. You lot prepare at least a legion of soldiers for deployment, and I’ll have a discussion with Princess Annie. Also, summon Fiu Roeser and the Troll that was placed in the mine!”
Odom triumphantly smiled. He was glad his efforts were not wasted!
Lautner immediately departed to gather the soldiers for deployment.
William hurried over to the moon tree. He needed to have a good talk with little Annie. William was unable to caress the unicorn who had not given him any luck. Instead, the unicorn obtained William’s remaining three points of luck. William was lucky that his luck points did not go negative…
“It’s infuriating. So much undead to deal with.”
Morning passed, and afternoon came.
The soldiers of the City of Dawn had been fully assembled and were ready to go. Annie’s personal guards and the soldiers of Blue Moon Town took over the defense of the city.
Such a large-scale military maneuver could not be kept from the spies within the city.
But William didn’t care. He had nothing to hide. He immediately gave the order for his army to set off!
The army comprised of 4,000 soldiers including 500 of his personal guards. This was a legion with +1000 combat strength.
Lautner, Odom, Eric, Alec, the Tauren Fiu Roeser and the Troll Bloody Crusher had followed William in this expedition. Sia also came and she was in charge of 20 middle-level mages and 50 novice-level mages.
A legendary NPC!
And seven epic NPCs!
“If we still cannot defeat the Devil’s Den, then I’ll stand upside down… cough.” William did not choose to fly his flag.
Besides William and his followers, members of the City of Dawn’s Temple of Light had also joined. The Temple Messenger had brought along 20 temple knights and 5 Pastors.
Even 500 of his 800 mercenaries had joined in!
This would be the largest war since the start of the City of Dawn.
But William was not aware of the fact,
The dark warlock of the Devil’s Den was not fearful when he knew about the situation.
Instead, he was laughing in excitement.
Casa could not help swallow hard as he looked at these undead, death knights, skeleton soldiers and dark magical beasts. They were a formidable force.
Casa gazed at this man. The man who had taught him dark magic but forbade Case from calling him teacher…
“What is he going to do?”
“These dark creatures cannot defeat the Dawn Army.” Casa knew it, but he didn’t dare to speak out loud.
But the well-prepared senior dark warlock knew exactly what was inside Casa’s head. He laughed sinisterly and said, “Do you remember the last bloodline of the Lonely Mountain empire? There’s a bounty on the Dwarf Odom Heavyhammer!”
“What?” Casa eyes widened as he heard this information.
So…
I see…
