Chapter 240: Not the Human Ancestor Himself; Deliberately left for her?

Jiang Chuchu was stunned by Gu Changge’s words. She looked at him as he gently tucked her hair behind her ears, her expression growing more complicated with each passing moment.

She’d never expected to hear such gentle words from Gu Changge.

For a moment, she felt a little touched. Gu Changge was usually a cold and indifferent individual, a person who didn’t have the slightest bit of warmth in his eyes.

“What are you going to do?”

Jiang Chuchu’s crystal eyes looked at him

She didn’t know why, but her voice softened, a stark contrast to its usual cold and harshness.

Hearing this, Gu Changge smiled slightly, “Nothing too complicated.”

“Doesn’t the world need a belief called ‘Human Ancestor’?”

“Now, apart from you and me, is there anyone out there who knows that I killed him? Not even the Human Ancestral Hall backing you knows. As such, you can rest assured.”

“So, no one other than you and me will know that the Human Ancestor is dead.”

“What the world needs isn’t the Human Ancestor himself. They just need someone who is the ‘Human Ancestor’.”

He smiled as he very kindly gave his explanation.

Of course, if he hadn’t killed the Human Ancestor, there wouldn’t have been so many issues in the first place.

But, he did kill the Human Ancestor.

And now here he was helping Jiang Chuchu like the saint he was.

If any outsiders were to see this situation unfold, they’d surely be horrified to hear of it. This whole situation just felt wrong. In fact, they’d probably call him insane.

Even Jiang Chuchu was taken aback by this, her eyes widening in shock.

She hurriedly shook her head.

“No… how can this be… the Human Ancestor is irreplaceable, where could we possibly find someone similar to him?”

“In that case, what’s the difference between me and betrayer?”

She gritted her teeth and hastily disagreed, rejecting Gu Changge’s proposal.

Gu Changge’s interruption was to find someone to play the role of the Human Ancestor.

Just like he found someone to pretend to be the descendant of the Human Ancestral Hall and roam around the world, deceiving everyone.

Just the thought of it gave Jiang Chuchu an indescribably uncomfortable feeling. Not only would it be a complete betrayal to the Human Ancestral Hall, but it would also imply that she was an accomplice, a companion of Gu Changge on his path of evil.

As if she and Gu Changge killed the Human Ancestor hand-in-hand and planned to replace him.

She couldn’t accept such a thing.

Gu Changge wasn’t surprised in the slightest to hear her response. In fact, he would’ve been surprised if she just agreed outright.

Thus, he simply continued, his smile still etched on his face, “I just thought of a way for you. As for whether you accept it or not, it’s entirely up to you.”

“Besides, the Ancestral Hall’s collapse is a good thing for me, I can just forget about it. To that end, I’d highly recommend against making any of your own suggestions. I won’t be compromising.”

Jiang Chuchu fell silent, her face a tangled mix of emotions.

Gu Changge was right. The survival of the Human Ancestor Hall hinged on this plan; it meant nothing to him.

In fact, all he needed to do was kill her and be done with it.

Once that happens, would there be anyone left who knows that he has killed the Human Ancestor? Or that he’s the Inheritor of the Forbidden Demonic Arts?

‘But why would he go through so much trouble?’

Jiang Chuchu was taken aback for a moment, Gu Changge presumably said this for her.

As a matter of fact, while he did treat her poorly at first, it’s true that he did nothing more after that.

She did, however, have deep-seated malice for Gu Changge since the very beginning. She’d never once thought of him as a “good person”.

This was true as well. In some respects, Gu Changge was a villain through and through.

Her head spun with the many thoughts that arose.

‘But…I can’t just betray the Hall and work with the devil himself.’

“Just kill me, Gu Changge!”

And so, after much thought, Jiang Chuchu resigned herself to death.

Gu Changge frowned at her decision.

The smile on his face disappeared, morphing into its usual indifference, “Jiang Chuchu, do not test my patience.”

This time, he directly called Jiang Chuchu by her full name.

Before this, he had always referred to her as Saintess Chuchu.

Jiang Chuchu’s expression, which had just regained its calmness, changed once more.

She naturally felt the difference in the way by which he addressed her. And her clear lack of appreciation had obviously irritated him,

For a moment, she couldn’t tell whether it was Gu Changge’s kindness or something else.

Jiang Chuchu gritted her teeth slightly.

“Do not force my hand, Gu Changge. I would rather die than betray the Hall. The fact that you killed the Human Ancestor and I did not take action against you-“

“As if you dare to take action against me.”

Gu Changge casually interrupted her, then faintly said, “You sought death, and I granted you mercy. In other words, the old you is dead, and your current life is mine to control.”

“And yet you wish to do as you please with it? Did I ever give you permission?”

1Samael: Hate to break it to you, but this is Wuxia. Consent is a myth.

Jiang Chuchu’s eyes widened, clearly stunned.

Why does it seem like it makes sense?

With those words, Gu Changge delivered a very strong statement.

The next moment, Gu Changge waved his sleeves, opening a portal to the Inner World and he casually tossed Jiang Chuchu inside.

It was then that he himself entered.

“Gu Changge, you are despicable and shameless…”

In the Inner Universe, Jiang Chuchu was so angry that she couldn’t help but curse at him.

Her state of mind that remained as calm as water, the fruit of her cultivation, was useless in front of Gu Changge.

— — —

Zhao Yi, who’d been protecting Jiang Yang, appeared exhausted. However, when the chaotic mist in front of her began to clear, she couldn’t help but express her profound joy.

“Jiang Yang, you’ve succeeded…”

However, before she could finish her words, she froze in place, surprised beyond what words could describe.

Her eyes widened, as she stared in astonishment at Gu Changge. She couldn’t believe that this could possibly be happening.

Wasn’t this Supreme Immortal rumoured to have fallen into Yuhua Heavenly Pond because of Jiang Yang’s trap?

How could he be here?

And what about Jiang Yang?

“Not good-“

Zhao Yi was so horrified that her first instinct was to deal with Gu Changge using the method taught by Jiang Yang to activate the Xianlun Seal.

But the next moment, before she had time to even react, her eyes went dark. The feeling of a giant palm that covered the sky approaching covered her in an instant.

Puff!

In an instant, Zhao Yi was in such despair that she couldn’t help but beg for mercy.

“Supreme Immortal, please spare my life! This was all a setup by Jiang Yang, I didn’t have anything to do with–”

Unable to bear the rampant energies, her body exploded. Initially, Gu Changge had planned to keep her spirit alive to toy with Jiang Yang.

However, with Jiang Yang dead, Zhao Yi was useless.

She was reduced to ashes, both her soul and body destroyed in one blow.

The spirit within the Xianlun Seal sensed something was wrong and wanted to seize the opportunity to break open the void and vanish, but Gu Changge had already predicted this event.

The Divine Armoury opened!

The vast world in the middle was like a beautiful painting, stretching in all four directions, as heaven and earth hummed with a mighty sound, revealing a boundless brilliance!

The Xianlun Seal was unable to flee and fell directly into it.

After obtaining this Supreme-grade weapon, Gu Changge set the matter of refining it aside for now. There was no need to rush, and there were still plenty of things left to do.

As for Jiang Chuchu, he worried not one bit, confident that she would decide sooner or later.

Boom!

And soon, the terrifying grey fog over the Yuhua Heavenly Pond grew more terrifying and monstrous, threatening to escape the shackles of this realm.

Many powerful cultivators observed the situation from afar, finding it difficult to calm down for quite some time.

The aura continued to surge with ferocity.

And like before, there were many cultivators who gathered with the intention of gathering information. Unfortunately for them, they were unable to take even one step closer.

Among them were also Yue Mingkong’s subordinates, dispatched to keep order. They were initially successful in their task, barring the way against others. However, the situation has changed.

‘Jiang Yang’s aura has disappeared… what happened?’

Yue Mingkong frowned and rushed into the Heavenly Pond, urging the forbidden weapon to resist the residual aura around her.

She’d seen the terrifying figure in the sky dissipate. And once it did, the aura vanished as well.

It was as if it had evaporated into thin air, a truly bizarre encounter.

It was then that she noticed Jiang Yang’s aura had vanished too.

Yue Mingkong soon arrived at the resting place of the Pure Worldly Lotus. Was she seeing things? She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

The Nirvana Lotus’ life force, divine charm, and immortal opportunity had disappeared, clearly having been absorbed by someone else.

The first person that Yue Mingkong ruled out was Jiang Yang.

If Jiang Yang’s fusion was successful, he would undoubtedly rush out to seek revenge for himself.

However, based on the current situation, Jiang Yang failed and may be dead somewhere around here.

Who could possibly have the means to kill Jiang Yang here – the place that he’d prepared so meticulously?

‘There are still few seeds of the Pure Worldly Lotus here… did they forget to take it?’

After noticing these items, Yue Mingkong was a bit shocked.

Plenty of the Pure Worldly Lotus’ most precious seeds just lay strewn about, left within the lotus’ body.

What’s more, the Immortal Qi and Dao intent present within were completely unaffected.

As if they were deliberately left behind…for her?

<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Hello,

I know you guys must be disappointed in me because after I said I’ll try to be consistent with the chapter, I disappeared for more than a week. For that, I apologise.

But, I got really sick and had to stay in hospital for some days.

In fact, I was done with this chapter before I got admitted but I couldn’t post it because I wasn’t able to take my PC.

With that said, I know it was irresponsible, and I apologise again.

-Yours truly.
