I Am the Fated Villain
-
chapter-737
[Gu Changge doesn’t know that I witnessed Lan Yifei kill Jin Yun…] Gu Xianer’s feelings were complicated as all manner of thoughts raced through her mind. She did not know how she was going to interact with Gu Changge if her guess turned out to be true.
“Greetings, Young Master Changge. Is there a reason why you asked me to stay back alone, Young Master Changge?” Lan Yifei had been startled at first but he was able to immediately regain his composure and ask with his hands cupped.
As it was, he had an idea as to what Gu Changge wanted. Nevertheless, he was a little puzzled as Gu Xianer was still here.
[Does he not care if Gu Xianer finds out the truth? Or, could it be that she already knew about it a long time ago? Is that why she kept glancing at me once she entered this place?] Lan Yifei had many questions in mind, but his expression remained as calm and collected as ever, without any sign of the thoughts he had.
“It’s nothing major. It’s just that a lot of young prodigies have gathered in the Divine City lately and I’m worried that the Successor of Demonic Arts might commit an atrocity once more, so I wanted to give you a reminder. After all, your Physique is extremely enticing to the Successor of Demonic Arts.” Gu Changge smiled faintly as he made a pointed comment.Lan Yifei’s blood went cold but his expression did not change. “Thank you for the reminder, Young Master Gu. I will remain alert at all times.”
He knew what Gu Changge meant. The latter wanted him to continue striking in the Divine City.
A lot of the young prodigies had gathered within the Divine City. Young prodigies from all over had come over. It was a prime opportunity for the Successor of Demonic Arts to strike.
However, it was also far too risky.
With the various hidden experts standing guard within the Divine City, Lan Yifei did not think he had a high chance of success. Furthermore, after the incident with Jin Yun, all Forces kept a close eye on their Successors, out of fear that calamity would befall them.
It would not be easy for Lan Yifei to find an opportunity to strike.
He cupped his hands to bid Gu Changge goodbye and left. He did not want to stick around any longer.Unlike the other Immortal Forces, the Immortal Dao Alliance did not send their hidden experts over to the Divine City. Lan Yifei did not dare to let himself take things easy the way the other young prodigies did. He was extremely careful with almost everything.
Once Lan Yifei left, Gu Xianer and Gu Changge were the only ones remaining.
The faint smile on Gu Changge’s face vanished as he sat down on a stone bench.
“You seem to be hiding a lot of things from me. Did you have something you wish to say to me today?” Gu Changge asked as he picked up a cup of tea and took a sip.
Gu Xianer did not think he would make a preemptive strike by saying that she was keeping things from him.
Her expression turned grim. She no longer looked like her usual pleasant self.
“Shouldn’t I be the one saying that to you, Gu Changge?” she retorted as she fixed her eyes on him.
In the past, she had simply been suspicious about it, but after hearing the exchange between Gu Changge and Lan Yifei today, she was convinced she was right.
However, Gu Xianer was furious at the fact that Gu Changge was pretending to not know what was going on. He was even finding fault with her first!
Gu Changge cocked his eyebrows and set down his cup of tea. He took a closer look at Gu Xianer.
She seemed to be genuinely angry. Her expression was stern. She did not seem to be joking.
“What’s the matter? Why are you suddenly so angry?” He asked with a faint smile. In reality, Gu Changge had an idea as to what was going on. Earlier on, he noticed that Gu Xianer’s expression had been a little complicated when she looked at Lan Yifei.
“Even now, are you still refusing to tell me the truth? I’m so disappointed in you, Gu Changge.” Gu Xianer did not hide the disappointment in her eyes as she looked at him.
“Tell you the truth? What exactly are you referring to? I think I’ve said all that I should to you.” Gu Changge still had a faint smile on his face.
His nonchalance infuriated Gu Xianer. Both her gaze and her aura turned icy.
“Don’t think I don’t know about the identity you’ve been hiding all along, Gu Changge. Why must you lie to me and keep it from me? Are you afraid that I’ll go against you? Do you think I’ll become your enemy just like all the other Forces because of it? Or, is it because you don’t trust me? Are you afraid that I’ll expose everything?” Her tone was cold and dripping with disappointment.
The Successor of Demonic Arts was undoubtedly a serious matter. Gu Changge had a far smaller risk of being exposed if fewer people knew about it. However, Gu Xianer was someone who was willing to sacrifice her Celestial Bone to help Gu Changge overcome the danger of his Demonic Heart.
[And yet, he chose to hide it from me. Even now, he refuses to tell me the truth.] Gu Xianer felt as if Gu Changge did not trust her at all. [He’s still keeping his guard up against me.]
“Are you referring to… the Forbidden Demonic Arts?” Upon hearing her words, Gu Changge seemed to finally catch on to what she meant. He asked with a look of realisation.
He had a feeling that it was about this issue. However, he did not know how Gu Xianer found out about it.
“You’re finally admitting to it?” Gu Xianer was staring fixedly at Gu Changge as she wanted to see the changes in his expression.
Gu Changge chuckled and shook his head. “I remember telling you this a long time ago. At the time, you didn’t believe me.”
Gu Xianer was startled. All the accusatory words she had been prepared to throw at Gu Changge died in her throat.
“You told me about this a long time ago? Why don’t I have any recollection of this? There’s no way I could’ve forgotten something as crucial as this.” She frowned and started searching her memory.
The fact that Gu Changge was being so frank and direct without any attempt to explain or justify himself caught Gu Xianer off-guard. She did not care that Gu Changge was the Successor of Demonic Arts. All she cared about was his attitude towards her.
[But… I would definitely remember if Gu Changge told me about this before.]
Gu Changge smiled faintly and asked, “Do you still remember Sky King Zhi Yang, who was once an admirer of yours? Do you remember his Senior, Qin Wuya?”
“Sky King Zhi Yang?” The name sounded vaguely familiar to Gu Xianer. All at once, her eyes widened.
Many memories came flooding back into her mind.
Sky King Zhi Yang and Qin Wuya said they were her Seniors in her past life. They even procured water from the Lake of Reincarnation and wanted her to consume it so that she could regain the memories of her past life.
They also told her that Gu Changge was the true Successor of Demonic Arts. They said he would one day act against her to devour all of her, including her Source.
At the time, Sky King Zhi Yang even used his Foreseeing Eye to let her see a fragment of the future. He claimed it was her fate.
Soon after that, Gu Changge came over to deal with the two of them, and when Gu Xianer asked him about what they said, he readily admitted to it without attempting to explain himself.
“You’re right. You told me about it a long time ago…” At last, Gu Xianer figured everything out.
