I Am the Fated Villain
-
chapter-868
The domineering aura of a True Immortal reached out from the horizon and swept over like a torrential. It was from the wizened ancient True Immortal from King Ming Residence dressed in grey. The aura he exuded frightened all those who were standing before the Boundary Ancient City and they dared not offend him.
The rest of those from King Ming Residence trailed behind the True Immortal as they swiftly cut across the chaotic storms and rushed over.
Apart from this True Immortal, there were two other old men in the group who stayed silent. Nevertheless, the Immortal Aura that swirled around them made it clear they were just as powerful as the one who had spoken.
“A message token from King Ming of the Other Domain?” Experts from the Boundary Ancient City began sporting solemn expressions. Even though they were tasked to stand guard here, they were no match for True Immortals.
For Immortal King Families within the Central Immortal Domain, True Immortals were also considered Ancestors. They were the pillars of the Family and would rarely be seen outside. They were startled by the fact that these people had come from the Other Domain bearing a message token from King Ming.
Who was King Ming? He was a fierce and indomitable Immortal King from the Other Domain. Countless Immortal Kings had died at his hands. He was a truly ruthless being.
Even the Immortal Kings in the Central Immortal Domain were extremely wary of him and dared not underestimate him.
Initially, they wanted to stop the group from entering, but upon hearing these words, they dared not show any disrespect. They got to their feet and came out of Boundary Ancient City to greet the incoming visitors.
“This is the message token from our Ancestor King Ming.” The True Immortal in the lead did not want to waste any time here, so he immediately brought out the message token.
The forceful aura of an Immortal King emerged and the experts’ expressions changed drastically. Their Souls quaked and their skin felt like it would burst.
“We will pass the message to the King Luo Residence at once.” One of the experts gravely instructed as the others opened the gates to the Boundary Ancient City, allowing passage to the group. He also transmitted the message over to King Luo Residence to inform them of the guests.Although the Other Domain and the Immortal Domain were in conflict, in this present era, the Immortal Domain could not even defend themselves, let alone have the strength to fight against the Other Domain. Therefore, when such situations arise, the Immortal Domain would avoid conflict wherever possible. They would not choose to start a fight with the Other Domain.
After all, unlike the Immortal Domain, the Other Domain did not experience what happened during the Forbidden Epoch. Therefore, their battle prowess was far superior to the present Immortal Domain.
“This is a crucial matter. We have to meet with King Luo ourselves. We have been delayed long enough as it is.” The True Immortal from King Ming Residence spoke up. He did not wish to waste more time on such procedures, so he immediately instructed the people here to lead them straight to King Luo Residence.
Ming Yi and the others followed them into the Boundary Ancient City. They were finally entering the Central Immortal Domain.
The environment here was different from what it had been like outside. Even those from the Other Domain did not feel too uncomfortable.
They deduced that it was because several Immortal Kings oversaw the Central Immortal Domain and were able to suppress the environmental pressure.
“Please take us to the teleportation altar that will take us into the city. We cannot waste any more time. The matter we wish to inform King Luo about is related to the fate and the future of both the Immortal Domain and the Other Domain…” Ming Yi was a tall and breathtakingly beautiful woman with long, silvery hair that looked like moonlight. In this rare instance, her gorgeous face looked grave as she explained the situation to the experts before her. She did not want to waste any time on perfunctory procedures.
In any case, she did not think she had misspoken. Even King Ming had gone to the Emperor Family to discuss this matter with their Ancestor Emperor. It was not wrong to say that this matter affected the fate and the future of the Immortal Domain and the Other Domain.
In fact, in her eyes, it was probably even more serious than she had described.
“Related to fate and the future…”
The expressions of the experts who were leading the way instantly changed. They did not think that Ming Yi and the rest of her entourage would be fooling them at a time like this. Otherwise, they would not have personally made the trip over from the Other Domain.
After all, for people of the Other Domain, the trip posed a great risk to their lives.
Thus, they dared not take the situation lightly. They brought Ming Yi and the others to the teleportation altar inside the Boundary Ancient City that could lead directly to the depths of the Central Immortal Domain.
Light radiated around the ancient altar and soon, Ming Yi and the others disappeared.
“Back then, it was said that King Ming was the only one who escaped from the Western Immortal Domain…”
“The other four Immortal Kings died tragically as they ran into the rumoured Forbidden Existence.”
“If their trip truly has something to do with that, it spells an unimaginable disaster for both the Immortal Domain and the Other Domain.”
The experts bore solemn expressions as they were able to use Ming Yi and the others’ words to guess why they had come.
To their shock, not long after Ming Yi and the group from the Other Domain left, they once again detected activity from the chaotic storm in the distance. Many powerful auras were approaching the city.
Streaks of divine light shot out to scatter the chaotic storms and create a wide path that led straight to the Boundary Ancient City.
“They’re from the Southern Immortal Domain…” The experts were thunderstruck. They did not expect so many people to rush over in rapid succession, and they all came to discuss matters with the Immortal Kings in the Central Immortal Domain.
The Western Immortal Domain had been lost after the Other Domain’s invasion. Following the deaths of four Immortal Kings from the Other Domain, the place turned into a desolate wasteland.
As for the remaining Immortal Domain regions, even if the power of the Eastern Immortal Domain and Northern Immortal Domain were to be combined, they would still pale in comparison to the Central Immortal Domain. Therefore, the experts were able to understand why the Other Domain sent messengers over to discuss this matter with them.
However, why did the Southern Immortal Domain do the same at this juncture?
“Let us through quickly. We have important matters to discuss with the Immortal Kings from your Immortal Domain.”
Bai Chuan rode in on a silvery-white pegasus and came before the Boundary Ancient City before calling out.
The silvery-white pegasus he rode had the power of a True Immortal. It exuded an Immortal Aura that befitted this powerful and handsome creature.
“A Quasi-Immortal King…” The expressions of the experts who were guarding the Boundary Ancient City changed drastically. They were intimidated by Bai Chuan’s aura.
He was unbeatable by anyone lower than the Immortal King Realm. Yet, such a figure had personally made the trip over. Their hearts trembled. They quickly allowed passage as they were too afraid to stop him.
“I’m afraid something major will happen soon…”
“Not only has the world changed, but even the Immortal Domains will undergo a great change soon.”
The voices of these experts quaked. After standing guard at the Boundary Ancient City for millions of years, their hearts had become as dauntless and unyielding as an iceberg.
However, they were now trembling in fear, beset by an inexplicable sense of terror.
“If what happened countless epochs ago is to repeat itself now, it will certainly be a horrifying calamity for the Immortal Domains now. Who could possibly defend against it?”
This thought occurred to some of them and their faces began to look horrified and despaired. They could understand why both groups had been in such a rush.
Meanwhile, in King Luo City.
It was a renowned Immortal City deep within the Central Immortal Domain. Cutting across the universe in all its splendour, it was surrounded by Chaos Qi and looked like a massive star hovering in the galaxy.
The stars before it seemed minute. Even the city gates looked like pillars that could hold up the world.
King Luo was a genius that rose up several epochs ago. It only took him twenty million years or so to become an Immortal King. He had ruled over the surrounding territories for several epochs. The Families and people had flourished under this reign.
Recently, he invited his friends from various places to celebrate his birthday with him. All the major Forces in the Central Immortal Domain having received an invite.
Some of the Immortal Kings even came over to King Luo City in person and discussed the Great Dao with King Luo.
Sounds of the Great Dao echoed all around, reaching places hundreds of millions of kilometres away. Golden lotuses bloomed in the sky and clear springs sprouted from the ground. All benefited from these sights.
The Immortal City could house countless living beings, but only those who truly belonged to King Luo Residence and his Family had the right to enter the inner part of the city.
The place was impossibly lively. Ancient Battle Chariots shot across the universe as the ancient beings from various Families came bearing gifts to celebrate King Luo’s birthday.
In the centre of this Immortal City sat a residence that was surrounded by Celestial Mist of unimaginable majesty.
It looked like the centre of the universe, bearing the splendour of countless aeons and epochs. It was surrounded by all the Daos of the world. Principles cascaded like a waterfall and congregated around it.
This was the residence of King Luo and where his True Body resided.
Deep inside the residence, within the endless void, King Luo sat cross-legged with many beings of similar cultivation level to him. They suppressed the Great Dao, causing the Principles around them to tremble.
Immortal fruits and wine were laid out in the void before them as they discussed among themselves.
“I’ve been feeling restless and uneasy lately. Have any of you felt the same way, Brothers?” A hazy silhouette sitting atop a cushion beside King Luo spoke up. The blurry figure was the Immortal King from the Wang Family who was far higher than King Luo in terms of generational seniority. His voice was calm with an air of transcendence. He did not sound aged or weary.
“The heavenly stars have changed. The Great Dao is in chaos and even its Principles are retreating. These are not good signs. Perhaps those in the cycle of reincarnation are returning soon. It was prophesied that when the Tree of Epoch reemerged and the Epoch Dao Fruit ripens, the Six Paths of Reincarnation will return.” Another Immortal King responded. Though he looked like a young child, the fluctuations in his eyes betrayed him. He was an ancient being who became an Immortal King countless epochs ago. It was impossible to ascertain his real age.
“A young prodigy from my Family has recently regained memories of a past life. The light from his Soul shocked all of us. One of our True Immortals tried to probe further but was nearly injured by the light…” Another Immortal King who was sitting on one of the cushions slowly brought up an incident that occurred within his Family.
His words silenced all the Immortal Kings.
“The surge in Fortuity is indeed a sign of great change. Perhaps this is an opportunity for us to take a step further.”
“For countless years, there has been no news of anyone reaching an even higher realm. We have all been halted here, and the beings who survived the Forbidden Epoch have long since disappeared.”
“We do not know the way forward…”
As they spoke of this, their expressions dimmed. Even though their emotions varied, the sense of unwillingness to accept the present situation was shared among them. They thought they were being held back by their environment. Otherwise, with their aptitude, they had the chance to reach an even higher cultivation realm.
While the Immortal Kings discussed this matter, outside King Luo City, streaks of divine rainbows cut across the universe and descended at a great speed. The ones back at the Boundary Ancient City had immediately reported the situation.
“Master King Luo, news has arrived from Boundary Ancient City…”
Two True Immortal children appeared outside the residence. They were not young by any means as they became True Immortals several epochs ago. They were King Luo’s children.
They stood respectfully at the entrance with a slip in hand. With a wave of his hand, King Luo took the slip. As soon as he saw the words written on it, his expression changed and his never-changing face now looked shocked and doubtful.
“What’s the matter, my friend?” The other Immortal Kings were startled by King Luo’s expressions. They did not know what he had seen to have caused such a reaction.
They were Immortal Kings who sat at the pinnacle of the Immortal Domain. Was there anything in this world that could make them react in such a way?
“Read it yourselves.” King Luo’s expression was dark and uneasy. He did not realise the trace of fear in his eyes as he passed the slip to the others.
“What?!” After seeing the words recorded on the slip, the others who had been calm and unruffled earlier also reacted in shock. One even jumped to his feet as he cried out in disbelief.
“How’s this possible?” The Immortal King who looked like a child murmured to himself. His eyes widened behind the Chaos Qi that shrouded his face.
“Someone used the Art of Deduction to determine that he won’t show up in the Immortal Domain again for several more centuries. The Sources of four Immortal Kings from the Other Domain should have been enough to let him settle down for a while…” Although the Immortal King who spoke tried his best to stay calm, he could not hide the tiny tremble in his voice.
King Luo got to his feet and left his cave. He was not in the mood to think about his birthday celebration anymore. “This is an urgent situation,” he said. “I’ll go and see what King Ming means by this.”
It was not just him now. All the other Immortal Kings were flustered too. They no longer felt the peace and serenity they had earlier.
Who could stay calm when confronted with a terrifying being who treated Immortal Kings as merely a supply of Sources?
…
Meanwhile, the guests gathered inside King Luo Residence did not know what was happening. They continued to engage in revelry and lighthearted conversations.
The young prodigies were indulging in alcohol and talking casually among themselves.
“A while back, Young Master Wushuang fought valiantly on the Boundless Battlefield. All our enemies turned pale with fear. He has proven the might of our Immortal Domain. I now offer a toast to Young Master Wushuang.” Within the expansive purple bamboo forest where mist circled, a beautiful woman who was smiling faintly raised her cup at the young man in front of her.
The man had handsome features and a tall figure that was shrouded in white. His eyes flickered with a faint shade of gold and he carried himself with an air of transcendence.
When he smiled, he gave the impression of being a courteous gentleman. He was surrounded by an Immortal Aura.
“You flatter me. On the contrary, I have to express my sincerest gratitude to Brother Luo Xuan for that battle.”
“I could not have killed that being if he had not been by my side to assist me,” the young man said with a humble smile and a wave of his hand.
The figure sitting beside him was a little more muscular. The man had a dignified appearance. He seemed to emit a golden light, and even his hair flowed with a golden glow.
He was Luo Xuan, one of the leaders of the army who served King Luo Residence, someone who had the potential to become an Immortal King someday.
“You speak too highly of me, Brother Wang. Lady Zijin is the main reason for our success on the Boundless Battlefield. We would not have been able to defeat our enemies so easily if she had not held up that corrupted True Daoist who crossed over to our world.” Upon hearing the praise heaped upon him, Luo Xuan withdrew his gaze and responded with a smile.
All this while, he had been staring at the woman in white who was sitting by herself at a white jade table in the distance, drinking wine.
The woman in white had an otherworldly and ethereal air about her. She had bright eyes and skin as flawless as jade. She was extremely beautiful, so much so that even Heaven would be jealous of her.
