I Am the Fated Villain
-
chapter-893
This ancient and primeval-looking continent was vast and boundless. There were large stretches of ancient forests and towering mountains as far as the eyes could see.
The abundant Spiritual Energy even turned into liquid in certain areas
Many Sacred Herbs that had gone extinct in the Immortal Domain could be found here. Spirit herbs as old as millions of years could be seen growing along the cliffs.
Numerous wild beasts could be found across the distant mountains. There were many unique species that existed before the Forbidden Epoch. Their massive bodies could shroud the sky and their terrifying aura rumbled like embers.
Ancient beasts as large as mountains could easily be found here. Even the Golden-Winged Roc, who had the cultivation of a True Immortal, was minuscule compared to these beasts. The man who was riding on the Dragon Climber turned into a streak of divine light as he shot through the mountains like a shooting star. Soon, he disappeared into the valley of the mountain range.
Many ancient beasts looked up at the man before looking back down again. They did not mind him. They all coexisted harmoniously.
Amidst the massive and majestic slopes of the mountains, the shadowy silhouette of a city appeared. More and more people came into view.
“It’s Lord Qing Feng…”
Many cultivators patrolled the area surrounding the city, and when they saw the man who was rushing over, they could not mask their looks of awe and respect.
The man named Qing Feng nodded at them without saying anything. Then, he rode on the Dragon Climber and disappeared into the city.
“It is said that Lord Qing Feng went to strengthen the array. Many cracks have appeared lately and many outsiders have stumbled into this place…”“Aside from Lord Qing Feng, the Great Commanders of the hunting party have also gone off to various places to guard against those who managed to get in. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to live in peace the way we do now.”
Once Qing Feng left, the patrolling cultivators began to mutter among themselves.
Qing Feng was one of the most renowned experts in this ancient land. He was already a Quasi-Immortal King.
The Elders held high regard for him.
As for the Great Commanders, they were all True Immortals who could very well become Immortal Kings in the future.
Lately, the protective arrays set up around the ancient land showed signs of weakening, and some cultivators from the Immortal Domain had stumbled into the place by accident.
Previously, some even managed to cut through the ancient forest and approach the city.
Naturally, the experts inside this ancient land got rid of those cultivators. They could not allow the outsiders to leak the news of the existence of this ancient land.
Nevertheless, the cultivators who lived in this ancient land felt uneasy. It seemed like the arrays would shatter one day. If so, this place would be exposed, drawing the attention of the Immortal Domain. Once that happened, the peace they enjoyed all this while would be shattered for good.
“When it comes down to it, the outside world is far from peaceful right now. Previously, Elder Yu and the others ventured out but they paid a heavy price. Two powerful Ancestral Artifacts that had been passed down since ancient times got destroyed, reduced to dust…”
“Alas, if the Fortuity of this world is unable to continue suppressing the spirit veins, sooner or later, the ancestral spirit veins here would transform and burst forth someday.”
“The ancient spirit veins are largely the reason why we’ve been able to advance in our cultivation so quickly over the years.”
The patrolling cultivators could not mask their concerns. Throughout this time, this ancient land was like a haven protected from the disturbances of the outside world.
The beasts living in this place exhibited harmoniously alongside them with neither one affecting the other. Even other races in the remote areas of this land had a good relationship with them.
Unfortunately, this peaceful life would not last much longer.
The protective arrays their Ancestors once laid down were on the brink of collapse. They could no longer function properly as they continued to show signs of decay.
Lately, many experts roamed the ancient forest to kill the cultivators from the outside world who stumbled into this land.
They also tried to fix the cracked and shattered arrays.
Alas, such efforts were almost futile. At most, they were only delaying the inevitable for a short while.
According to their knowledge, the Demon Lord who once destroyed the Immortal Palace had reemerged and the entire Immortal Domain was now living in terror under his shadow. If they were exposed to the outside world at a time like this, they would immediately draw the attention of that monstrosity.
“It is said that our Ancestor was one of the four Star Officials of the Immortal Palace who ruled beneath the Grand Palace Master. Even though it is uncertain whether this rumour is true, our Ancestors were definitely related to the Immortal Palace. Given how the Demon Lord operates, he would certainly never spare us…”
The thought of these things left them nervous and uneasy. Soon, the peaceful life they enjoyed would come to an end. When that time came, they would be too insignificant to even be considered noteworthy opponents.
“This situation doesn’t look good. Feelings of sorrow and despair fill the air…”
Qing Feng rode on the Dragon Climber until he reached the deepest part of this ancient land.
There were many buildings and palaces standing proudly with spiritual mist and light encircling them. Silver waterfalls hung in the air. The place radiated brilliance.
There was also a boundary here filled with a powerful and mysterious energy. The entire territory hung in the air with a massive sea beneath. Thunderous sounds of waves could be heard.
“The City of No Return.”
These words were inscribed on a dark green stone plaque outside the boundary of the city, giving off an ancient air.
There were even more cultivators inside the city, including humans and those of other races. Everyone lived harmoniously together.
Even the mortals were basked in light and had startling auras. Their lifespans were longer than that of average mortals.
The entire city stood in the sky with clouds swirling around it. It was protected by the array and glistened with light.
“Greetings, Lord Qing Feng.”
Qing Feng went across the boundary and entered the City of No Return. Upon returning to this place, he got off the Dragon Climber and walked along the streets on foot.
Everyone who passed by would greet him respectfully.
Qing Feng nodded in response to everyone. Some of the children also approached him and greeted him.
“The tranquillity of the City of No Return won’t last much longer. The Demons from the Azure Sea have been restless lately too…” Though Qing Feng had a faint smile on his face, he was sighing inside. He weaved past numerous buildings until he came to a quiet and ancient courtyard.
“Cough, cough, cough… You’re back, Qing Feng.”
Inside the courtyard, a white-haired Elder with a hunched back was fiddling with various herbs. Upon hearing the sounds of someone approaching, she turned towards Qing Feng and gave him a warm and kind smile.
“The array has is even more damaged now. It has collapsed entirely in certain places and many cultivators from the outside world has managed to get in. But, I’ve gotten rid of them all.” Qing Feng came over and helped the elderly woman with the herbs as he spoke.
He knew nothing of his past or where he had come from. All he knew was that he had woken up inside the City of No Return.
It was said that the elderly woman in front of him, Grandma Medicine, had brought him back from the shores of the Sea of No Return.
At the time, he had been soaked in blood and was on his last breaths. Surprisingly, the fearsome sea creatures in the Sea of No Return did not eat him.
The Sea of No Return was the endless stretch of deep sea beneath the City of No Return.
The elderly woman before him was known as Grandma Medicine. She had been alive for countless years now and was one of the most esteemed and respected figures in the City of No Return.
She could treat all maladies and conditions, no matter who it was, what kind of illness, or how severe of an injury.
