There is a small village in between Urza’s Capital and Mills.

After traveling for two days, we finally arrived in that village.

I acted separately from Seras upon arrival.

We also took separate rooms in the inn.

We decided that I would leave a bit earlier than her before meeting again later.

If we were to go north from this village, we will arrive at the Capital of Urza.

And further north of that Capital, we will find the Golden Demon Zone.

Two days have passed since that day that we had fought against the Five Dragon Warriors.

There are still no signs of any pursuers.

The army that’s called the strongest, the Black Dragon Knights.

The death of their core, the Five Dragon Warriors.

Bakuos should have been in chaos right now.

In just one night, the main war potential that had been supporting their country was destroyed.

I don’t think they even have the composure to prepare any pursuers after us.

I am currently standing in the village plaza.

Seras is already sleeping at the inn.

Pigimaru is waiting back in my room.

The bonfire in the center of the plaza is illuminating the darkness of the night.

It kind of reminds me of a campfire.

Occasionally, the sparks would splatter and dance in the air.

There are many villagers in the plaza.

I’ve also noticed some travelers among them.

There were some people that were dancing.

There were also some that were talking with others.

There’s also someone that’s playing a musical instrument.

There were even some who were just cheerfully drink their sake…

Some stalls were also set up around the plaza.

The place was so energetic that it’s like there’s a festival going on in this place.

It seems that we have arrived on the day that the village was having a festival.

It’s a great time for outsiders to visit.

Even travelers who have no particular purpose in this place have “come to look around the festival”.

Pretending to be one of the sightseers, I stood in front of the stalls and listened for any useful information.

However, I’ve received no important information even after some time.

I haven’t heard of any conversation that talked about the Black Dragon Knights.

However, it seems that they have noticed that “something has happened in Mills”.

[……………..]

I look towards my palm.

<Sleep> had become Lv3.

“Optional Release” was also added into its options.

Another effect that was added to it was “Gauge Increase”.

It seems that it extends the duration of my skill.

I’ve also tried <Freeze> on the way here.

It’s a skill that covers the opponent in ice and seals their movement.

It seems to be a non-lethal skill.

It can’t be overlapped with other skills.

However, it’s possible to use this skill on non-living things.

The range of this skill is short just like <Sleep>.

Though, the main feature of this skill is the duration of its effect.

Its duration is 300 days.

However, I still can’t cancel the effect of this skill right now.

If the level of this skill increases, it’s possible that it can be cancelled.

So far, it doesn’t seem to be a skill that can be easily used.

However…

[If I can use this skill just as I imagined—]

I may be able to solve that problem regarding the corpses of those I’ve poisoned to death.

[…………….]

I should probably try it out later.

[Hmm?]

A certain stand suddenly caught my sight.

[Welcome~]

The cheerful middle-aged shop owner points toward the bonfire.

[How about it? Just buy anything in my shop, and you could join along with them.]

I looked towards where he’s pointing at.

The villagers and the travelers who were dancing around the fire is wearing headgears.

In this village, there seems to be a custom of dancing while they’re wearing headgear during this festival.

It seems that there were masks lined up around this store with motifs of people from the legend.

[…A mask huh…]

I picked up the first headgear that caught my eye.

[Oh, it seems that mask of the King of Flies caught your eye?]

[King of Flies?]

[Oya, you haven’t heard of him?]

The shopkeeper said.

I really haven’t heard of him but…

[It was the name of the Demon King who was said to have fortified the Demon’s Island and fought against every invader for over a 100 years. It was the legend about acts of demons and the emergence of the root of evil, though the legend of this King of Flies became famous for some reason. The whole army of the King of Flies may have died in the end, but everyone’s manner of death was so cool and the King of Flies’ subordinates became really famous.]

The King of Flies…

I inspect the mask.

The eye part of the mask is spherical.

Speaking of its eyes, it kind of looks like the red eyes of a fly.

However, the eyes of this mask were quite thin and feels aggressive.

I could even feel some edges with my hands.

[So he was the Demon King huh…]

If I remember correctly, there was a Demon King back in my previous world with the motif of a fly.

I continued listening.

[Is this headgear something rare?]

[Hmm? The legend of the King of Flies is pretty popular, so you could probably find the same headgear just like that being sold in other places. Therefore, you could probably get the same thing all over the continent.]

You can find this anywhere in this continent huh…

Looking around a bit, I found another fly-like headgear but with a different appearance.

[How about this one?]

This one has a different design from the King of Flies.

[This one? This is the headgear with the motif of the King of Flies’ subordinate. This is an indispensable item when those brats need to perform the side of evil in the war in any of their plays.]

After thinking for a bit, I spoke.

[Can I have one of this headgear of the King’s subordinate?]

[Oh, thanks for the purchase~! Maannn, I wonder if it’s because of my explanation earlier!? Ah! There’s a full-length mirror behind those curtains, how about you try it on!?]

The shopkeeper pointed towards a small tent beside his tent.

I paid for the mask and went inside the curtains.

I then stood in front of the large full-length mirror.

[…………….]

It might be a good idea to wear this mask while I’m moving around in public.

If I could do well, I may even be able to impersonate another person.

These masks were being circulated throughout the continent.

How convenient.

[Now then…]

What should I do when I’m asked who I am in the future?

I don’t think I could really act as a traveling merchant.

There’s probably a lot of stuff I would need to prepare in order to act like one.

[If that is so, then it must be that—]

A Mercenary Corp.

If we have weapons of our own, we should be able to communicate with other mercenaries.

Unlike merchants, you could easily hide your background information.

Well, the members of our Mercenary Corp were just us two and one monster.

Speaking of which, this was the idea that I had used right after I left the ruins.

The Mercenary Corp opposing the Goddess.

My line of sight dropped down at the mask of the King of Flies in my hand.

The King of Flies Mercenary Corps.

I am certainly not some virtuous hero.

I guess I’m more fitting on the demon’s side huh…

I put on the mask.

My coronation that was performed by me.

The figure reflected back in the mirror.

Black robe.

The head of a demon fly.

The figure that was reflected back is exactly like a demon surrounded by darkness.

[—–Goddess Vysis.]

I spoke out the name of the target of my revenge.

[Sooner or later, it will be you who will be trampled. No—-]

Turning around, I look back toward the mirror.

[I’ll be confronting you soon.]

I put my hand over my mask.

[Be sure to watch it closely, the tenacity of a man who sold his soul to the devil.]

<Author’s Notes>

The second volume may have been become quite longer than the first volume, but I guess I should first say good work for everyone who have read Volume 2 until the end. And also, thank you for reading so far.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who gave me feedback, bookmarks, and ratings. The final parts of the second volume may have more content than the first volume (the writing speed was not very stable in the later half, so some people may have observed it)… Thanks to you, I feel that I was able to make it until the final story of Volume 2 …As was the case with the first volume, the words and feelings of “interesting” were still a major driving force for writing. We also received some new reviews during the second chapter. Even though there were only 5 feedbacks so far, I am grateful that you gave some time to write a review. Thank you very much.

Since then, I was surprised to hear a lot of feedback from Chapter 2 of the Black Dragon Knights. If you have enjoyed it, there is no joy I could possibly get over this. I will do my best to write in the future.

I am currently planning to start Volume 3 after a break of about 8-10 days. I will update the prologue chapter before the start of Volume 3, so I would like to announce the date and time of the start of Volume 3.

<Translator’s Note>

Hello, LazyCat here~ This chapter marks the end of Volume 2. Cheers~ Cheers~ Clap~ Clap~ Clap~

I would like to say that the weekday updates would be paused for the next days. Normal schedule returns back in January 6, 2020. Thanks for reading <Hazure Waku – Joutai Ijou Skill etc> and see you again next year.

(I lied, I would still be online in Discord for the holidays. Procrastinating.)
