I Hate Systems
chapter-166

Hekatra had trained him enough to make it possible for him to create an Armament within an hour. After all, all the materials needed for it derived from a Haggon's body. And, as a Haggon could easily regenerate, he could create as many Armaments as he needed until his Darlac reserves depleted.

Thankfully for him, he had more than 5000 Darlac to spare.

While carving through the Armament to make it more receptive while shaving off the excess material, Compass Carburettor constantly made it to siphon his Darlac, causing it to become more and more attuned to it while he observed it, shaving of anything that impeded the process while inlaying other details.

He then watched the yellowish-white glow around the Armament condense into the tiny protrusion on its front before beginning to elongate. As he carved more and more, shaping up the circuit within, the energy soon took up a shape, becoming an energy blade resembling a sword that was a metre in length.

'Unfortunately, the circuit isn't made up from Darble but the nerve within the horn that transported my Darlac. So, this is the limit to its strength.' He nodded, completing the carving as he watched the energy blade attain the sharpest edge and the sturdiest frame it was possible in this setup.

He then looked at Grisha, "Do you have a hammer or something?"

"I have a toolbox lying around." Grisha nodded as she ran into one of the rooms before exiting with a hammer.

He pointed at the energy blade, "Attack it."

"Nothing would happen to me, right?" Grisha asked in hesitation.

"This is just a materialisation of energy. It doesn't have any property like heat, electricity, or anything of the sort." Compass Carburettor replied.

"Alright," Nodding in response, Grisha lightly hit the energy blade, noticing that nothing happened. It felt like she had hit a metal slab. She then hit it a bit harder this time, seeing that it wasn't even damaged.

"Hit it with all your strength." He said when Grisha slammed the hammer into the energy blade, noticing a small crack appear before it healed up immediately.

"That's good enough. It should suffice." He said before setting aside the Armament, working on the second small horn.

Grisha returned to her seat on the sofa as she observed him. But soon after, she fell asleep.

Compass Carburettor continued to work on the Armament, nodding upon completing five Armaments in total. Appearance-wise, each Armament looked no different to a badminton bat whose shaft was broken from the handle.

Though, the handle here looked like it was made from a material similar to ivory.

Upon completing the task, he set out to work on the remaining horns that he had extracted, scrapping out all the material before pulling out the tiny nerves within it. They were the nerves condensed with Darlac.

All he did was extract them all before forming a small pile. Using the strength present in a Haggon, he knead the pile, compressing it little by little while his Darlac flowed into it constantly.

He used the method Hekatra had taught to slowly continue the kneading process, watching minor impurities from the pile spill out automatically as powder while the remainder turned into something like dough.

And thanks to his strength as a Haggon, the amount of pressure he applied caused it to shrink in size continually until it turned into a tiny bead that was incredibly hard, "Darlac Awakening Crystal."

Unlike the one created using Darble, the one in his hand was an inferior product. But, it would still get the job done. The bigger the empire, the greater the need for Darble. So, the Great Megwest Empire had figured out such a method to use the Haggons.

After all, the Haggons were able to regenerate. So, after some were captured, they were fed daily while their horns were broken off before the substance within was extracted. This was used to create a cheap knockoff of Darble Crystals that was used in a variety of day-to-day home appliances.

This way, they reduced their Darble expenditure a lot, saving it up for only military requirements. And best of all, it worked in awakening one's Darlac, even though the efficiency was around 3-4 times lower.

Compass Carburettor made three such beads, turning two of them into the Spydragons, albeit with a lot of difficulties. The ones he made were vastly inferior to the Darble versions he used before.

'But, that'll do. I have enough Darlac to spare to use them.' He nodded. After all, the Spydragons he made was so inefficient that it was better to not use them. But, he created them just in case he required their use in the future.

As for the final bead, he turned it into a bracelet, returning to his human form as he sighed, wearing his clothes.

He looked at the pile of scraps he had created in the living room, cleaning it up before storing them in some garbage bags.

He finally looked at the five Armaments, two Puppets, and one bracelet he had created, nodding, "This should be enough for the time being."

He then slipped the bracelet on Grisha's hand, smiling upon seeing it on her hand, realising his actions as he muttered, "Did I get attached to her already?"

He shook his head, sighing, "To think, after all these years, I am still such a simple guy in this regard."

He then gently lifted her up before placing her on the bed, allowing her to rest comfortably. The function of the bracelet was to awaken Darlac in her. Though, as to how long it would take for her to awaken it in this manner, he was unsure.

Upon noticing that he was exhausted, Compass Carburettor rested, falling asleep immediately. Nostalgia, loneliness, a sense of longing, and fear, all sorts of emotions swirled in his head before he went deeper into his state of sleep.

At the same time, in a corner of the garden attached to the villa, a tiny blade of grass grew out of the ground, gently coiling around a nearby blade of grass before uprooting it. It didn't do anything beyond that, silently remaining at place like every other blade of grass in the garden.

For a moment, the garden itself was shrouded by an eerie feeling.
