I Hate Systems

chapter-289
Compass Carburettor used Body Layer, condensing a layer of energy blade over him. He first used Darlac, seeing the familiar yellowish-white energy blade.
Followed by a thought, he switched the energy to the Apocalypse Pearl, noticing it immediately gaining weight. It had also become tremendously slow as compared to the previous energy blade. But it was still usable.
And finally, he only used Mental Energy, watching the energy blade turn jet black immediately, glittering with starlight. It lacked any solidity to it, ethereal in nature. As to its true functions, he had yet to finish comprehending them.
But, he was now able to integrate various abilities into his energy blade, content with it. By activating Darlac and Apocalypse Pearl at the same time, his energy blade would also have some mass to it, giving it more weight.
He then switched over to Darlac before activating the trait of Permanence. There was no difference, but he stopped emitting any Darlac, trying to move his hand around to see the Body Layer was still there. It had now turned solid, resembling a crystal in appearance. He was unable to move his hand, for it was stuck due to the solidified Body Layer. He wasn't using any energy to maintain it anymore. It was a proper solid.
After smiling, he retracted the trait of Permanence, watching it dissipate immediately, "This is what I love about this trait."
He then condensed a palm-sized Spydragon while activating the trait of Permanence, holding it as he felt it around before dropping to the ground.
It slowly moved towards the ground, slower than a feather, and only due to a mild wind that was blowing it that way. After all, as it was made with Darlac, it had no mass.
It was a solid Spydragon. He was still able to control it like usual, after all, it was his Puppet, its functions remaining the same. "I'll be able to help Grisha with this."
Smiling, he began to experiment with his abilities, slowly getting used to them.
He then summoned the Vitality Bowl, surprised when he observed some changes in it. It didn't have a mound in the Dimensional Space though, only sharing its presence with the three mounds. So, he would be able to revive it after some time, though not as quick and easy as the mutated beasts.
The changes that had formed in it were tiny grass strands in its insides, capable of jutting out when necessary. Otherwise, they would remain at the bottom. And, when he understood their purpose, he didn't know whether he had to laugh or cry.
For, they were cooks!
Until now, all the Vitality Bowls were only able to condense liquid items.
But now, his Vitality Bowl was also able to condense solid items. The grass would help in achieving that, growing in size by absorbing nutrients as they would turn into the necessary fruits, vegetables, spices, etc.
Even meat products were possible, since the necessary process was more or less the same.
After that, some grass strands would behave like hands that would do the regular cooking and create the final product.
'I want a burger.' He thought, watching the grass strands within the Vitality Bowl take action immediately. Though, when he gazed at the process in curiosity, he regretted it, turning around immediately, 'If I see it, I'll never be able to eat food ever again.'
It was worse than seeing a horde of insects squirming within a bowl.
As it was his Vitality Bowl, Compass Carburettor knew when the food was done, turning around to see that the grass strands had retreated into the bowl, revealing an empty bowl where five burgers stood proudly, damn fresh.
He grabbed one and took a bite when his eyes lit up at the taste, "This is practically a delicacy in the apocalypse."
He quickly gobbled through all five when the Vitality Bowl condensed more nutrient solution for Golda to drink up. It was the best way to gather more Mental Energy, after all.
"I wonder how much Mental Energy I'll get once its number of horns increases?" Thinking as such, he smiled, giddy that he had guessed correctly this time.
Though, this feeling didn't last long before he was reminded about his enemy, the Elf, "That Damn Elf!"
He hadn't figured out a method to survive the Elf's attacks. After all, in their first meeting, the Elf had only used magic. It hadn't used any Core Skills at all, not to mention its Personal Fragment which should definitely be the most powerful treasure related to magic in its origin world.
So, none of its cards had been revealed yet. Also, as a True System Slayer, one that had crossed Level 10, it had 10 slots to contain Core Skills. And, there was a good chance that it had filled all 10 of them with Core Skills, making it a terrifying enemy.
"The only consolation is the fact that I reached Stage 4 thanks to the creation of my Personal Fragment." He sighed, thinking of something as he took out the orb that Shika had collected from the three-horned man, swallowing it, obtaining his fourth ability.
It was an area of effect ability that was microscopic in nature. Moreover, it was capable of being selectively effective against targets alone. So, unless he found a better ability, he didn't plan on changing it.
"But, just from what I had witnessed, the powers possessed by those horned men are on par with Vutura's ability in quality." He nodded, sighing again as he decided in the end, "I have to get more of them."
He took out all the orbs in his possession, using Info Scanner on them to observe their details, concluding in the end, "The one I already consumed is the most powerful and versatile among the lot."
'My Haggon form can regenerate, so I guess that solves the issue of healing. I have Vutura to attack, the new ability to both attack and defend an area, my energy blade for everything else, including escape. And finally, Golda to replenish my energy reserves. Dita would help me hide and invade the spaces of others while the fusion of Golda and Dita allows me to plunder the Mental Energy of opponent Systems.' He concluded his thoughts.
"I have more or less everything I need to survive and hunt my foes once I add my Core Skills and Personal Fragments into the mix. But, the only problem is…" He muttered, worrying, "How do I counter that bastard?"
