I Hate Systems
-
chapter-358
"What the heck was that…?" Compass Carburettor shuddered before recalling the sensation he felt, slowly understanding as time passed, "I see, so I was being monitored from there."
'As expected, the Coincidental Luck System should have already determined that I'm the Main Character by now. I didn't even give any clues to the Conspiracy Slayer System. So, only the Coincidental Luck System should have been able to find me so fast.' He nodded.
After all, it had only been a day since his arrival in the Gaider Realm. And as he hadn't spent long on Earth, all in all, it had been less than two days since he left the Apocalypse World.
That was a tremendous level of efficiency in its methods, 'As expected of coincidence and luck. Combined, they are terrifying indeed.'
"So, what now?" He muttered, 'Are they planning to enter this world to search for me?'He then clenched his hand into a fist, understanding the mysterious power that he exhibited before, 'I see, so it's not possible to monitor a Main Character from the System World. Now that I understand this, I can be assured that they wouldn't appear next to me like that Elf.'
"But still, Ranze…" He frowned, 'Ranze has a Divine Spirit. If they are planning to find a Host, then he's the perfect one.'
"But first things first." He said, using Dust Wave to tunnel towards the other path, soon entering it as he arrived before an altar.
Ranze had already gone ahead, so there wasn't anyone to disturb him. Of course, an ancient civilisation obviously had an altar to awaken one's Martial Spirit. Other than this altar, there were other treasures on this path too.
Ranze was currently collecting them to strengthen his Divine Martial Spirit.
Compass Carburettor blocked the front and rear of the path using an energy blade wall with the trait of Permanence, ensuring none would be able to hinder him during the hour he was awakening his Martial Spirit.
It typically took anywhere from thirty minutes to a few hours, depending on the process. Basically, one didn't need to prepare much to awaken their Martial Spirit. It was a simple process that depended on one's willpower alone.Compass Carburettor inserted hundred Essence Stones into the altar, watching it lit up as he gently placed a hand on it, immediately feeling his consciousness getting sucked into it.
But, what was surprising was that the altar was struggling to suck in his consciousness, even though the one before him looked superior to the one in the Giant Whale Sect.
It was apparent that his consciousness was tremendously vast to the extent the altar had to struggle.
Only after a good whole minute had passed was his consciousness fully sucked into the altar as Compass Carburettor noticed that he was floating in a mystical space.
This space resembled the void as countless shooting stars moved here in a chaotic manner. Compass Carburettor stared at them, observing for a moment as he gazed at himself, noticing that he appeared the same as in reality. Though, he wasn't able to use any of his abilities.
The Martial Spirit Awakening was pretty simple. Once a mortal touched the Martial Spirit Awakening Altar, their consciousness would be brought into a mystical space known as the Martial Spirit Realm.
There, a body would be condensed from their willpower. And as time passes, their body would begin dissipating. Before it fully dissipated, they would have to catch one of the shooting stars.
Though, if they had any affinity for one of the shooting stars, the process would become easier. This was where the difficulty lay for those trying to awaken a second or third time.
Their body of will condensed in the Martial Spirit Realm would only be half the strength of their previous time. So, in comparison to the first time, they would only have half the strength in the second attempt and a quarter in the third.
It was unnecessary to mention in the subsequent attempts as their body would be too weak to even grab the weakest of shooting stars.
The weakest of the shooting stars with slow orbits belonged to Trash Martial Spirits. The faster and stronger the shooting stars were, the more powerful the Martial Spirit.
The moment Compass Carburettor entered the Martial Spirit Realm, the chaotic mess of shooting stars suddenly stopped before hastily moving towards him.
"Oh shit!" Even Compass Carburettor was surprised by their actions, watching the shooting stars arrive at a stop before him as they hummed, wishing to be chosen by him. It was apparent that he had a pretty great affinity to most of them, judging by how they constantly hummed whenever he moved his body, as if anticipating which shooting star he would select.
Each shooting star had a unique aura to it as Compass Carburettor focused on the one closest to him, soon able to feel the outline of a sword, 'Sword Martial Spirit.'
He then focused on the one nearby, determining that it was a Whip Martial Spirit. All the Trash Martial Spirits were more than enthusiastic to be chosen by him.
But, Compass Carburettor didn't wish to obtain them, aware of what he wanted as he looked beyond, noticing Human Martial Spirits. They were slightly less enthusiastic as compared to Trash Martial Spirits but still hummed mildly according to his movements.
There were all sorts of beasts among the Human Martial Spirits, including mythical beasts like a dragon and a phoenix, but without any elemental attribute to them. There was even a human there, as Compass Carburettor was surprised to see it.
It was a Martial Spirit, shocking him.
The moment he looked at it, the Human Martial Spirit shook its head, slowly opening its mouth as it said, "Sorry, I don't wish to become your Martial Spirit."
"You can talk?" Compass Carburettor was surprised, for a moment thinking if it was a System playacting as a Martial Spirit. But, he wasn't able to sense any sense of danger from it, realising that it was indeed just a Martial Spirit.
"I'm the Human Divine Martial Spirit." The Human Martial Spirit replied, "That's the only reason I can talk with you."
"Why don't you want to become my Martial Spirit?" Compass Carburettor asked in confusion, wondering why it was standing there otherwise.
"Because I don't wish to die." The Human Martial Spirit replied curtly.
