At any rate, after frantic explanations, I managed to clear up Rachel-san’s misunderstanding.

[I see, so that’s what she meant…… Since I don’t have any blood, I didn’t consider that she might be talking about blood.]

[Ahh, come to think of it, Rache-san is a Living Doll, right? Is it like a deceased person’s soul residing in a doll?]

[Indeed, there are such examples. Or rather, Living Dolls are typically born through such a process. In my case, you could say I was artificially created…… In my case, my husband created me.]

[I’ve heard of that. Necromancers can alter their own magic power to artificially create Dead Souls and produced Undead soldiers…… ]

Nodding at Rachel-san’s words, Noir-san joins the conversation. In the first place though, I don’t really know much about Undead-related Demons. Among those I know, it seems that Sechs and Isis-san fall into that category, but even though they’re both considered Undead, I feel that Isis-san and Sechs-san are quite different in nature.

[That’s right. In the first place, although we’re generally categorized as Undead Demons, our natures vary widely. This might be a redundant explanation for someone like Miyama-sama who uses Sympathy Magic, but emotions dwell within magic power. Negative emotions, in particular, manifest strongly in magic power, and sometimes the emotions of the deceased, which could be called grudges, can bind their souls…… Of course, souls that can’t even self-resurrect can’t possibly transform into something else. However, interestingly, such negative souls tend to attract similar souls, and it’s said that when many souls filled with negative magic power merge, Undead Demons are born. During that process, it’s common for them to inhabit some kind of medium, especially something resembling their form back when they were alive, which is why dolls are a popular choice.]

[By “common for them to inhabit”, does that mean it’s not always the case that they’d dwell in something humanoid?]

[That is correct. There are some who inhabit plants and become a tree known as a Living Tree, or simply staying as a cluster of magic power without taking a physical form…… settling into a ghost-like form. However, while it’s often heard that she belongs to the Undead, Death King-sama’s case is quite unique. In her case, rather than being an Undead, she’s more of an embodiment of the concept of death itself…… ecologically speaking, she’s more like a Spirit, so it may be more appropriate to describe her as a Spirit of Death.]

Now that she mentioned it, I can see her point. I’ve felt this before, but Isis-san seems to have a different vibe compared to Sechs-san or Rachel-san. When described as a Spirit embodying the concept of death, it certainly seems to fit.

Well, in fact, since the soul of the Great Evil God of Despair is the core of her existence, she’s probably more like a God rather than a Spirit, but since Rachel-san has no way of knowing that, it’s only natural she’d think of her as more of a Spirit.

[Returning the topic about me, Necromancers, including my husband, fundamentally utilize the souls of the dead and negative magic power. However, it’s not like there are conveniently available Dead Souls or negative magic power whenever they needed to use them. Thus, they basically pseudo-generate Dead Souls by altering their own magic power and use them to create Undead soldiers. In my case, I was created through such a process, so you could say that I’m more like a Magic Doll or a Golem.]

[I see. That said, that’s kinda amazing. Pseudo-generating Dead Souls……]

[I’m not acquainted with any necromancers, so I’m not very familiar with them. However, they apparently use quite complex and difficult rituals, which consume a significant amount of magic power. Moreover, it seems that there are few Necromancers to begin with.]

Nodding as I listen to Noir-san’s supplementary information, it’s true that the Necromancers I know of are just Sechs-san and Rasal-san, both of whom are Peak Count-ranks.

If even Noir-san, who presumably meets various powerful people as an Adventurer, doesn’t know any Necromancers, then Necromancy must be that challenging of a magic.

[……This is something I’ve only heard about from my husband, but Rasal Marfik-sama, who joined Death King-sama’s camp, conducted research on negative magic power, using a special circulation method to generate tenfold negative magic power from just one unit of it. After many years of research, Rasal-sama had completed it, which gained praise from my husband, saying that “the pinnacle of Necromancy is undoubtedly Rasal”.]

Now that she mentioned it, as was the case at the afterparty of the Harmonic Symphony, Sechs-san consistently said that Rasal-san is the best Necromancer in the Demon Realm, and for even Sechs-san, who is known as the Great Sage of the Dead, to honestly admit his defeat, I guess Rasal-san’s Necromancy skills is so top-notch.

Even so, it’s interesting to hear about things like this that I had never heard of before. In a sense, this may be the best part of the conversations at a party with a variety of people.

<Afterword>

Serious-senpai : [Her kneeling down in a dogeza right from the start had left quite the impression on me, making me think of her as just a cocky necromancer, but as the story progresses, her competence becomes more and more apparent. She’s so competent of a subordinate, doing this and that, that I kinda think of her as the most subordinate-like among the Death King’s subordinates.]
