Mu Mingtang let go of his hand and took the armour from the shelf. Because it was too heavy, she almost fell to the ground. Xie Xuanchen reached out to hold it for her, but she shook her head and refused, resolutely putting on the armour. Starting with the shoulders, arm guards and belt for Xie Xuanchen, she put on every piece for him before finishing it with a drape of red.

Back then, when she fell to the ground, waiting to die in a fit of panic and helplessness, it was the young man with silver armour and a red cape who descended from the sky and stabbed the attacker’s throat with a knife. He killed all the foreign enemies who caused a ruckus with an indifferent expression, as if everything was as it should be.

When he lowered his gaze, there was no sign of him wanting to take credit for saving someone in his eyes as he didn’t even tell Mu Mingtang his name. She only remembers her hero who had a mole at the corner of his eye.

Now, the young man was tall and his brows revealed the heroic determination befitting of a majestic man. However, his eyes remained the same as they were before whilst he moved forward steadily.

Mu Mingtang blinked vigorously as tears suddenly welled up in her eyes. Seeing the sight before him, Xie Xuanchen gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, “Why are you crying? Aren’t I still here?”

Mu Mingtang burst into tears and Xie Xuanchen couldn’t finish wiping them off, so he leaned over and hugged her forcefully through the cold armour.

Mu Mingtang couldn’t bear it any longer as she buried himself in his arms, weeping wantonly. Xie Xuanchen’s armour was all made of fine iron and her skin hurt when she got this close to it. However, she felt extremely at ease when she leaned on it.

Xie Xuanchen wrapped his arms around Mu Mingtang’s waist and hugged her tightly. His hand was bound with arm guards that were cold and hard, engraved with dragons and fierce tigers that had their teeth and claws showing a murderous aura. Nevertheless, the cold and hard arm guards bypassed the layers of brocade silk and held the woman’s red outfit tightly.

He picked up the sabre in his other hand. The silver arm guard and hilt complemented each other, reflecting a ray of cold light.

The next day, early in the morning, news spread throughout the city.

Ye Luji was about to cross the river and the imperial court intended to reuse Xie Xuanchen, the ever-standing God of War.

This morning, they also ushered in a rare guest. In the early morning, all the ministers stood in front of the Xuande Gates, all of them with serious expressions. Suddenly, the sound of hooves came from behind them. They turned their heads unpreparedly and saw a slender figure turning over from their horse under the morning light.

Everyone opened their mouths in surprise, but Xie Xuanchen didn’t say anything as he strode towards Xuande Gates. Subconsciously, the people flanking him on both sides gave way.

A moment later, the morning drum sounded and the Xuande Gates opened wide.

The Emperor was really surprised when he saw Xie Xuanchen. No one in the entire dynasty dared to go side by side with Xie Xuanchen, let alone stand in front of him. Prince An took Xie Xuanji’s place as a matter of course and was at the head of the line.

After the Emperor’s initial surprise passed, he basically knew what was going to happen next. Sure enough, after Prime Minister Song made some routine remarks, the topic turned to Xie Xuanchen.
