I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother
-
chapter-255
Yelena was a great beauty. Without a doubt, there would be many men trying to capture her attention. To take the place of her new husband, he had to start making efforts from now on.
“Why not pick some flowers and present them?”
Noenza thought of the easiest and simplest way he knew to win a woman’s favor as he hurriedly crossed the hallway with a mischievous grin. Just as he walked, a maid noticed him and spoke.
“Young master, where are you going?
“To the courtyard.”“The courtyard?”
“Yeah, I thought of picking some flowers.” Feeling happy, Noenza answered promptly. However, the maid’s expression quickly hardened.
“You can’t. It’s dangerous.”
“What?”
“There might be monsters lurking around. Even if it’s just the courtyard, going outside right now is———”
“Why would there be monsters in the courtyard? The knights are guarding against them at the fortress. They won’t be able to get inside.” Ignoring the maid’s concerns, Noenza chuckled. “The knights are handling the monsters well. There’s no way they could get inside the castle.”
“But you never know, young master. It’s still dangerous———”“Oh, come on. Stop nagging. I’ll only be out to pick some flowers and come right back. Nothing is going to happen.”
Ignoring the worried maid’s persistence, Noenza waved a dismissive hand and continued walking past her.
“Young master!”
Still nervous, the maid followed him.
“Thank you, Aendy.”
“That’s enough. If I hear it one more time, it’ll be the seventh.”
“Thank you.”
After uttering the seventh ‘thank you’ with reluctance, Yelena beamed widely.
Aendydn decided to use the spirit to tell Kaywhin about Yelena that she was safe and that she was currently here. The method to convey the news was simple. First, the wind spirit would locate Kaywhin, and then the water spirit would write the message on the ground and into the air.
‘Please.’ Yelena pleaded earnestly. She desperately wished that news of her would reach her husband as soon as possible. She also wanted to hear news of her husband, conveyed by the returning spirit.
‘Is he safe?’ Of course, he must be. It was her husband, after all. If it were anyone else, she wouldn’t be so sure. ‘I miss him.’
Of course, just because her message would reach him didn’t guarantee that she could meet him immediately. Her husband might be in a situation where he couldn’t move right away, since it was filled with monsters outside. “Still————”
Still, she was relieved. The fact that she could contact him brought much comfort compared to the utter despair she had felt before. It was like a thread of hope finally descending amidst the hopelessness. Yelena looked up at Aendydn, who had handed her the cup and spoke. “Thank you.”
“Enough, Yelena! Are you going to fill your ‘thank you’ quota up to ten? Think about me too. You’re giving me goosebumps because I can’t get used to it,” Aendydn exaggerated while rubbing the nape of his neck.
“Alright.” Yelena smiled and brought the cup to her lips. Warm milk mixed with honey flowed smoothly down her throat, sweet and comforting.
“Thank you, Countess, for protecting the Kingdom.” Since Yelena started fighting the monsters on the castle walls with the artifact, every time she woke up from unconsciousness, a maid named ‘Dina’ would always bring her honeyed milk just like this. And every time, she would thank Yelena for protecting the Kingdom.
‘She’s a good maid.’ Yelena thought casually. One could sense her warm-hearted nature just by looking at her face. Her skills were excellent too. The milk was delicious as well. It was just the right temperature, not too hot or lukewarm. The amount of honey was perfectly balanced, not overly sweet or bland.
‘Should I ask her to make another cup for me after finishing this one?’ Yelena thought as she took another sip of the warm milk that helped soothe her tense body. At that moment, a commotion was heard from outside.
“I don’t know what to do! Our Dina looks so pitiful. What should we do————
“If it weren’t for the young master… If it wasn’t just the young master——”
“Dina?”
Amidst the chaos, a familiar name caught Elena’s ears.
“There was no one as kind and good as Dina.”
“If that child dies like this, I…”
At the mention of death, Yelena unconsciously stood up. As she opened the door and stepped into the corridor, she met the tear-streaked faces of two maids.
“What’s going on?”
