I walked up the stairs and went out onto the ground. The damp night air was comforting. No one was around. It was just me and Leon.
Leon and I were facing each other.
For a fourteen-year-old, he’s got a lot of fight in him. What kind of life had he lived? Well, I couldn’t say the same for the others.
“So, shall we begin?”
I smirked at him. Leon glared at me, as if he didn’t like my attitude.Without saying anything, he disappeared. I was unable to feel his presence anywhere. His presence disappeared, and I had no idea where he was going to attack me from.
It was like he’d successfully blended into the darkness. This fight was going to be tougher than I thought it would be.
I took a deep breath and focused all my attention.
I relied on the slight vibrations in the air to figure out where he was.
I feel a swift, quiet kick coming from behind me. I dodged it by a few tenths of a second before it landed on my head.
“Wow, I didn’t expect to be able to avoid this.”
“You’re like an assassin with the way you make your presence disappear.”When I turned around, he had a sad expression on his face. However, he immediately smiled.
“Well, that’s because I was an assassin.”
At that moment, he disappears again, attacking me at an increasing rate.
I was able to successfully avoid his formidable kicks and fists. I wondered if what he just said was a measure of my strength….
But still, he was quick. It wasn’t going to get me anywhere if I just kept avoiding him.
I should find a weak point somewhere!
Leon looked at me sharply, a little exhausted, as I escaped his powerful kick with a backflip.
I could tell that he wasn’t fighting with a half-hearted attitude.
“You’ve got to fight for real.”
“You can’t make me serious.”
I dared to provoke him. He grits his teeth.
Unfortunately, I was not as quick as him.
I was able to match his speed for the most part, and I was confident that I would win the next round.
“It’s that leeway that’s pissing me off.”
Leon vanished into the darkness again. There was no need to bother looking for someone invisible. Just wait for them to attack.
A fist appeared in front of me, along with the sound of a whistling wind. At that moment, I slightly crouched down and put my fist in his midsection with my left hand.
I was slightly faster than him. He let out a pained “gahhhh” and fell down on the ground.
I went after him seriously, so he wouldn’t be able to stand up for a while.
He crawled on the ground and looked up at me, frustrated and angry.
“You’re supposed to be blind.”
“You think I was fighting with sight alone? You should fight with all of your senses. Sharpened senses make all the difference.”
Leon lied on his back. Staring at the sky full of stars, he let out a small sigh.
“I guess I lost…”
“I expected you to lose.”
“Are you trying to stir things up?”
I knew Leon was going to lose from the very beginning.
But with more training, he would definitely surpass me. And in no time, too.
“I didn’t know there was someone this strong!”
“Shocked?”
“No way. I’m rather excited. I haven’t been this excited in a long time.”
Leon’s fiery crimson eyes stared at me, giving me chills.
That was quite the scary expression on his face. This was what I meant by “terrifying”.
