The light and darkness in front of her eyes flickered, and time seemed to have gone fast forward. In the blink of an eye, the appearances of the people in front of Chu Jiao had changed.

“Little Master, it’s time to eat.”

“I’m coming.”

The very same conversation seemed to have taken place everyday. The young boy splendidly grew up with each passing day and had now become a fine young man, whereas the young girl’s features did not seem to have the slightest hint of aging.

“99, didn’t I tell you to not call me Little Master before?” The voice of the young man, who was in the middle of puberty, sounded a little hoarse. His nose bridge was holding up a pair of glasses and his figure was slim, his black eyes had the same firm and sharp look Chu Jiao was oh-so familiar with. He floated down the stairs and casually took the dishes the young girl was carrying in her hand. He then held her hand, reminding her, “Call me Ah Chen.”

The young girl slightly cocked her head. Chu Jiao noticed that her android cold expression from before seemed to have warmed up as her silver gray eyes seemed to contain a fragment of confusion humans experienced, “But, Little Master is Little Master. This is the default address Master has set for 9527, 9527 cannot change it.”

“I told you not to call that woman ‘master’ anymore! She now has a new home and a new son,” The young man suddenly kicked the chair out of rage and irritation, “You only have me as your master now. This family only has the two of us!”

The color of confusion in the young girl’s eyes grew deeper, “But, Master is Master, Little Master is Master’s son. Before Master left, she ordered 9527 to take good care of the Little Master.” Even though she was quite a smart android, she completely didn’t understand human emotions and only possessed simple logic-based and reasoning abilities.

“That’s fine,’ The young man seemed to have finally realized this, and seeing that his frustrated words weren’t able to get through to the young girl, he no longer tried to further explain the situation and only buried his head into his meal, “One day, you’ll definitely be able to understand… One day…”

The young man kept muttering these words, over and over again, and turned on the smart computer on his wrist while eating. A transparent blue screen suddenly popped out, revealing strings and rows of numbers. The young man’s eyes quickly read through several lines, while the young girl merely stood at the side, just like usual, watching the young man quietly.

The young man then finished his meal and immediately went upstairs, seemingly preoccupied with something, whereas the young girl obediently tidied up the used bowl and chopsticks, continuing to do house chores.

However, after working for a while, her movements began to grow sluggish, and the light in her silver eyes started to flicker. She was only able to lift one hand when her entire body came to a complete halt and fell straight to the floor, the bowl in her hand breaking from the impact of the ground.

The shattering sound of porcelain alarmed the youth upstairs, compelling him to quickly stop typing and hollering out ‘What’s going on’ a few times. However, he didn’t receive any response. He then got up and went down the stairs and the moment he saw the girl appear as though she had lost consciousness, his face quickly became deathly pale.

“99, 99!”

He ran to the living room in a slurry panic and hurriedly took out a box from one of the drawers. He threw the booklet found on top to the side, and took out the instrument from inside, running urgently back to the girl’s side. Carrying the girl up, he leaned her head on his shoulders and parted her long black hair.

A small red dot could be found at the back of the girl’s nape. The young man activated the instrument and connected it to the red dot on the young girl’s nape, watching it slowly transform to blue. He finally let out a sigh of relief and buried his head into the young girl’s neck, muttering, “99… I only have you, please don’t leave me.”

The little booklet laying at the side was suddenly flipped open by a breeze, emitting page turning noises. And, on the page that was opened, were the words ‘Service Life: 10 years’ written on it.
