Chapter 403: Once in Ten Years Opportunity to Meet
Sister Wen saw the name displayed on the phone clearly, and her remaining words became stuck in her throat.
“Cough, cough…” Beside her, Tian Xiaoxiao accidentally choked on her water.
Her face turned red, and she immediately gestured for Sister Wen to pick up the call.
Sister Wen had saved Film Emperor Qin and his manager’s phone numbers, but she never thought he would actually call her. After a moment of stunned silence, she quickly picked up, put her hand beside her mouth, and lowered her voice. “Film Emperor Qin.”
Her consistent quality was calm and steady.
Already home, Film Emperor Qin opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water. He had thought long and hard about this phone call before deciding to call Tian Xiaoxiao’s manager. “Hello, may I ask, does Miss Tian Xiaoxiao have time tomorrow?”
Tian Xiaoxiao had to work overtime tonight until 10 am tomorrow.
This crew had been introduced by Film Emperor Qin, and the director was extremely polite to Tian Xiaoxiao and even arranged her scenes very well.
“She has time at noon tomorrow.” Other staff members were around, so she didn’t dare to call him Film Emperor Qin. “What’s the matter?”
Twisting off the bottle cap, Film Emperor Qin took a sip and continued, “I have something to ask her. Is it convenient to meet?”Before Sister Wen even spoke, Tian Xiaoxiao stared at her and frantically nodded.
“Yes, it’s convenient, very convenient.” Sister Wen glared at her but spoke very seriously and respectfully to Film Emperor Qin.
Film Emperor Qin leaned on the sofa and said gently, “Okay. I’ll ask my manager to send you the confirmed address tomorrow.”
The two hung up. Tian Xiaoxiao grabbed Sister Wen’s arm. “Sister Wen, quickly ask me! Quickly!”
Sister Wen was stunned. “Ask what?”
Tian Xiaoxiao folded her arms. “The three questions of death.”
Sister Wen was speechless.
She was silent for a moment. “Have you been selected as the heroine by a big director today?”
Tian Xiaoxiao lifted her chin. “Of course.”
Sister Wen was a little tired. “Did you shoot a movie with Film Emperor Qin today?”
Tian Xiaoxiao squinted. “We recorded a variety show together.”
Sister Wen was expressionless. “Do you have 10 million fans today?”
Tian Xiaoxiao smiled. “9 million and nine hundred thousand.”
**
The next day.
Monday.
Qin Ran got up very early.
Cheng Mu was coming up the stairs next to the money tree with a small shovel.
Because she had gotten up earlier than usual, Cheng Juan had yet to come back. She went to the table to get a bottle of milk, put a straw on, and drank while leaning on the table and looking at Cheng Mu.
After a long while, seeing Cheng Mu’s back become a little numb, she looked away. “Cheng Mu, what does Old Master Cheng like?”
“The Old Master?” He put the shovel in the flowerpot and thought about it seriously.
Her head aching, she sat down and asked very clearly, “Just… what kind of gift would Sister Cheng give him on his birthday?”
“Hmmm, landscape painting, or antiques,” Cheng Mu said after pondering. “The Old Master likes such things. Last birthday, Master Juan specially invited Master Jiang to write him a congratulatory message on the spot.”
Qin Ran nodded while propping up her chin.
After breakfast, she went to school. She took her computer and went to the Physics laboratory with Principal Xu’s project.
She arrived at 7 am with Scholar Liao and the others already there.
There was an empty space in the outermost area. Putting down her computer, she went to the shelf behind to get a book on reactors. She dragged her chair and sat down. After reading the information for a while, she flipped to the next paper.
Brother Ye came out to pick up some documents and smiled at her. “Little junior.”
“Brother Ye.” She looked up and politely greeted him.
“You’re also writing a paper?” He glanced at her computer screen and saw the structure diagram and detailed text, but didn’t scrutinize it out of respect.
Qin Ran retracted her gaze, opened the drawing again, and redrew it. “Yeah.”
Brother Ye reminded her. “You can use the experimental equipment outside the laboratory. It’s best to write in the SCI papers direction.”
“Thank you.” He was kind, so she thanked him sincerely.
Brother Ye waved his hand and walked back in to pass the equipment to Scholar Liao.
“We’re going to see the underground nuclear reactor at 9 am. I’ve already applied for it last week,” Scholar Liao observed the reaction and said in a low voice.
Brother Ye and Zuo Qiurong were stunned for a moment, very surprised. Zuo Qiurong immediately walked out. “I’ll make the preparations.”
An early amazing reactor laid under the ground of Beijing University’s laboratory. It was rumored to be left behind by an old researcher, and only people in the Research Institute knew it.
But not everyone could see this reactor. If they wanted to go down, they had to be at least a second-level researcher, or they could go in and see it after making great contributions to the laboratory and the Research Institute.
Zuo Qiurong and Brother Ye wouldn’t necessarily have such an opportunity in 10 years.
This was the importance of having a good teacher.
Although Scholar Liao hadn’t accepted them as disciples, the researchers in general laboratories would take the students under their hands and wouldn’t be too harsh.
Going to the underground nuclear reactor required special protective clothing, so Zuo Qiurong went to the ground floor to apply for them.
When the staff there heard Scholar Liao’s big name, he hurriedly prepared three sets of protective suits and handed them to Zuo Qiurong.
She took them and returned to the underground floor.
It was almost time, so Scholar Liao and Brother Ye both changed their clothes. Scholar Liao had already gone out.
Wearing his hat and looking at the changing room, Brother Ye opened the door and asked Zuo Qiurong, “Little junior isn’t going?”
Stunned, Zuo Qiurong said, “They only gave me three sets.”
“I’ll ask Scholar Liao.” Brother Ye directly walked out.
“Forget it.” Zuo Qiurong lowered her voice and looked at him. “It’s almost time to see the reactor, so don’t worry about it. It’s a waste of time. She doesn’t need to go anyways.”
Scholar Liao had only applied for two hours of opening hours. Going up to apply for another set of special protective clothing and coming back would take an hour.
Zuo Qiurong didn’t want to waste this time.
Seeing Brother Ye walk out silently, Zuo Qiurong frowned and followed.
Upon hearing this, Scholar Liao was also shocked. “I forgot.”
He held his gold-rimmed glasses in his hands.
Qin Ran hadn’t come to the laboratory for several days, but today, she was sitting at the computer desk in the corner. The whole laboratory was seven meters wide and 25 meters long. Even the outer layer was dozens of square meters and was full of experiment tables. Sitting next to the computer in the corner, Qin Ran really had no sense of presence.
Zuo Qiurong came out in protective clothing. She walked forward with her tall figure. “Scholar Liao, the junior is new and can’t do anything even if she goes to see the reactor.”
She checked the time. It was almost 9 am.
Scholar Liao didn’t leave and just turned to Brother Ye, saying in a calm voice and a serious expression, “Ask her to apply for special protective clothing on the first floor.”
Brother Ye went to inform Qin Ran.
She had already put down her thesis and was standing on the experimental platform, rebuilding her last reactor.
Upon hearing him, she slightly looked up, her eyes drenched with coldness, and her words concise. “No need, you guys can go.”
She was always serious while doing experiments. Her white and slender fingers adjusted the current to control the magnetic field at this time.
Her series of actions were methodical.
Every action seemed… very confident and not in the least bit sloppy.
She was obviously doing an experiment, but Brother Ye felt like she was unhurriedly processing a handicraft.
He stared at her in shock for a while. “This opportunity is very rare. If you don’t go, you won’t necessarily find such an opportunity again in the next 10 years…”
He went back to tell Scholar Liao that she wasn’t going.
“She’s not coming?” Zuo Qiurong looked at the laboratory in shock.
Brother Ye looked away complicatedly. “She’s doing an experiment.”
“Let’s go.” Scholar Liao lightly retracted his gaze.
He had only asked Brother Ye to find her out of feeling apologetic for missing her out.
This time, he mainly wanted to bring Brother Ye and Zuo Qiurong there.
The two of them hadn’t been dismissed by him after helping out for so long because they had a very strong hands-on ability. They had followed him to research the reactor in their two years in the Research Institute. He had brought them here to hear their thoughts on the reactor.
Would it open up a new idea for their research?
So, he wasn’t bothered that Qin Ran had rejected it. He didn’t care if she came or not.
