"Who did you get pregnant?"

". . ."

Ren blinked. For some reason, his brain shut down, and he couldn't think of a comeback. Not to mention that he just found out from his parent's lips that he was a mistake. This made his mother misunderstand his silence, and she wailed even more while his father spouted his disappointments.

"Who's the girl?"

"How many months is she pregnant?"

"It's only your first month here. How can you already make that mistake?"

Ren's head pounded hard, and he thought the room was swaying before his feet. His parents could really jump to conclusions like a bullet train with no break.

"Dad, mom, calm down. It's not like that," Ren finally said after minutes that his parents were being hysterical.

Helen stopped crying, and she peeked under her hanky. "It's not?"

Ren nodded firmly. "It's not. I don't even have a girlfriend."

Troy and Helen gave each other a stare before they breathed easily. The compression in their chests disappeared.

"Oh, thank god."

But then there was this hollowness in their hearts at the thought of their soon-to-be grandson/granddaughter disappearing to dust. They suddenly didn't know which was worse, finding Ren with a girl or not.

"Why not, son?" Helen got out of Troy's embrace and went to Ren, capturing his eyes with hers. "Why don't you have a girlfriend? All this time, you still don't have one? Are you okay? Is something wrong? You can tell your father and me."

Troy only nodded with a very solemn face. If Ren turned out to be gay, then . . .

Ren read his parent's thoughts and sighed over the ceiling. "I'm not gay. And I like girls, but that is not what I wanted to tell you."

Ren saw the relief in his parent's faces, and all he could do was shake his head.

"Then . . . what is it that you wanted to tell us?"

"I own this place," Ren said straight to the point before his parents could go in another direction in their line of thoughts.

". . ."

". . ."

Both Troy and Helen couldn't react.

"Own? But . . . this is a hotel, right?" Helen asked, hovering her eyes at the interior.

To make his parents believe his words, Ren showed the papers of his unit that he had readied beforehand.

Both Troy and Helen gasped at the house title that contained Ren's name. Their eyes stretched to the limits as they looked at their son.

"Ren . . . h-how did you . . . w-what did you . . ." Helen couldn't find her words. Her head was a mess. Everything that happened was so fast and too much for her to process.

It was Troy who finished what she was going to say. "Ren . . . are you selling drugs?"

"NO!" Ren almost went out of his skin. Why do his parents always think of the extreme?

"Then there's no way you can explain how you acquire something of this luxury in just one month," Troy said, breath racing and chest raising up and down.

Ren calmed his parents for the nth time when they were about to go on another hysteric feat.

He then explained the game as fast and concisely as possible while showing them the news and information on his phone. He even showed them his account in covenant and how much gil he had, which he would convert to real money until his parents went silent.

Troy and Helen were in a daze. In one day, they felt a roller coaster of emotions. They even felt like they would have a heart attack at how fast their heart was beating and how little air they breathed.

Never in their wildest dreams did they see that kind of money that was currently sitting in Ren's bank account.

In just one month, their son suddenly became a millionaire, and all because of a game.

They did hear about it in the news since it was a popular topic whenever they went. Poor people who suddenly turned millionaires overnight because of a game. But they never expected that their son would be too.

At this moment, they didn't know what to feel. The information was still processing in their brain.

"So, Dad, Mom. I'm thinking of playing this game and continuing to earn while I study," Ren carefully said when he noticed his parent's white heaving faces, and he immediately added, "but don't worry, I won't neglect my study while playing the game.

"Also, you guys can stop your job and come live here with me. I heard that the government is planning to sell their lands to the rich because of the mass construction of guilds. That means our house will be demolished soon."

". . ."

". . ."

There was still no answer from his parents after a minute, which worried Ren.

"Dad, mom?" did he shock them too much?

After almost like five minutes, Troy finally looked at Ren with a deep scowl.

"Ren . . . are you sure this isn't illegal?"

". . ." Ren took a deep breath. Leave it to his parents to think that easy and fast money was illegal.

"No. Dad. This is one hundred percent legal. You saw the news."

It was only when Troy and Helen's expressions changed little by little that Helen cried once more. And this time, it was tears of happiness.

After some more drama and convincing, Ren finally swayed his parents to move with him after they were going to tie their loose knot in Zone C.

Then the family ate at a fancy restaurant for lunch before they bought some home furnishing together, just like what Ren expected his mother would do after finding out about their new home.

After another hearty dinner, Helen and Troy were both exhausted and went asleep early while Ren went out to his balcony and smelled the fresh night air.

His parents must have been so tired that he even heard their snores from all the way here.

Ren chuckled, and at that moment, he was at peace. Achieving one of his goals and counting, being with his family with no worries . . . was what he wanted. Things were beginning to get better for them, and Ren would ensure it would remain that way.

He would not be complacent just because of some millions. He wanted more enough for him to choke with his money. Enough for him to say enough.

Ren grinned over the starry sky. It was a humid night, but they no longer had to suffer from such heat anymore. They could now sleep in comfort without fearing being bitten by rodents, cockroaches, and other insects.

This . . . looking from his unit from fortieth floor above, smelling the night air in one of the luxurious room in Zone A while enjoying a glass of champagne . . . this was the life.

Anything they were in the past was simply a nightmare to him.

Ren stretched his limbs and cracked his neck before he decided to log into COVENANT. And the first thing that he read upon logging in was Sumeri's message to him.
