MMORPG: Rebirth as an Alchemist
-
chapter-605
As Cang Lu and Robert found themselves on the verge of defeat, their spirits lifted when they noticed the Maid and Ogre beginning to fade away. It seemed that the spell controlling them must have come to an end, filling them with a sense of relief.
But just as they started to celebrate their apparent victory, Roz unleashed another spell. This time, it was a spell called [Combine Monster].
Robert and Cang Lu's momentary joy quickly turned to shock as they watched in horror. Before their eyes, the Maid and Ogre began to merge together, their forms intertwining and morphing into a monstrous and fearsome creature. The combination was unprecedented, creating a new and more formidable adversary than they had ever encountered.
Cang Lu and Robert's rejoicing turned into dread as they realized the gravity of the situation. Their opponent had evolved into an even greater threat, surpassing their previous abilities and strength.
"What the hell is that?""What class does he have?" In all of Robert's fights, this was the first time that he had encountered something like this. It was just like . . . that encounter with the mad lab final boss, Doctor Frida.
Robert shivered at the thought. That doctor gave them one hell of a fight.
Back to the maid and ogre. The once separate entities had merged into a single entity, blending their skills and powers into a lethal force. It was a sight that sent shivers down their spines and filled them with a sense of impending doom.
With this unexpected turn of events, Cang Lu and Robert now faced an even greater challenge than before. Their hopes of victory had been shattered, replaced by the realization that they were now up against a formidable foe born from the fusion of the Maid and Ogre.
The battle had taken a drastic turn, and the outcome seemed more certain than ever.
Cang Lu shouted, "Hey, Invayne! Heal me!"
But Invayne ignored him and instead focused on healing Robert."Stop healing just your party members!" Cang Lu's frustration was evident when he shouted.
Invayne retorted, "You have your own healer!"
Cang Lu's anger boiled over, but before he could finish his sentence, a new monster appeared in front of him at lightning speed. The monster's agility was unmatched, and Cang Lu didn't stand a chance as it tore him apart.
"What the hell!" Cang Lu exclaimed, his HP rapidly decreasing until it reached zero. However, he felt a warm light surrounding him, realizing it was Invayne's healing spell.
"You only heal me when I'm dead! You bi–!" Cang Lu's voice trailed off as he vanished from the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Invayne didn't anticipate Cang Lu's death. She knew her timing and map awareness needed improvement, but she hadn't expected such dire consequences.
She muttered to herself, "I wasn't supposed to be a healer, for God's sake! My skills cooldown and casting time are a mess."
She wasn't like Sumeri, who was a pro player. She was only here because she thought the Fey Realm would be a majestic place. It was indeed a majestic place but with its own dangers.
Scar was against her joining them, but she insisted on buying her own ticket, and he couldn't do anything about it in the end. If it was Sumeri, he would definitely buy her a ticket and bring her along to this place.
Invayne's anger flared at the thought. She could be a good player if she wanted to. She just needed practice.
"Invayne, look out!" Robert's warning snapped Invayne out of her daze, and she turned just in time to see the monster's massive fist hurtling toward her. Before she could react, Robert stepped in and protected her with his own shield.
The monster's attack collided with Robert's shield, causing him to grimace in pain. The impact rattled his brain, draining his HP in the process.
"Just focus on healing me as soon as your heal becomes available," Robert said, his frustration evident. He wanted to curse Invayne for her poor gaming skills, but he couldn't afford to alienate the guild manager.
"Right," Invayne replied, shaking off her momentary distraction and refocusing on healing Robert.
The relentless monster continued to pummel its massive fists against Robert's shield. Thanks to his skill [Shield's Might], the durability of his shield held up against the onslaught. Without it, the shield would have rapidly deteriorated and shattered under the monster's relentless barrage.
"Let's hold on," Robert said, his voice determined. "The monster is desperate to end this fight quickly. That kind of powerful skill won't last long, so we just need to endure."
"R-right." Invayne could only agree. She didn't even notice that little detail. It made her realize that she had a lot to know.
While they were dealing with the monster, Robert realized that there was still one monster that Roz had.
That girl!
Robert was too late when Lira appeared behind Invayne, its slit eyes smiling while it clawed at Invayne's face.
"Shit!"
It was too late. If he saved Invayne, then the monster on his front would surely kill him. But if Invayne was dead, then he would have nothing to protect, and he could freely roam on the map.
It seemed like there was a lot of advantages if Invayne was dead than alive.
In that split second, Robert made a choice. He decided to prioritize his own survival and used his remaining [Blink] skills to teleport away from the two monsters. With no more escape skills at his disposal, he relied on his agility to put distance between himself and the beasts.
"Robert!" Invayne's cry echoed through the battlefield, filled with disbelief and hurt. She realized at that moment that Robert had abandoned her to die.
Lira's sharp claws tore into Invayne's face, instantly reducing her HP to zero. She had no powerful spells or skills to defend herself, lacking a subclass and stat because she rarely log into the game. Her options were limited, and death was inevitable.
"Sorry, Invayne," Robert said, though his words lacked genuine remorse.
Robert quickly assessed the situation, realizing that Scar and the others were preoccupied with their own battles. If he was defeated now, Roz would join forces with Ren and Isolde, which would spell trouble for their team.
