chapter-1035
"Guardian of the Mystic Plane..." Parroting the words that left Mystia's mouth, Valyr pinched the skin between his eyebrows with a slight frown as the gears in his mind began to turn. "What am I going to be exactly? Your disciple? Or the Guardian?"
"Both, if possible," replied Mystia while Valyr continued to frown. "As you have Mystic Energy, you're already my disciple. However, it's still up to you if you want to become the Guardian of the Mystic Plane or not."
"What does being the Guardian of the Mystic Plane entail exactly, Miss Mystia?" asked the young man in response, only to say something else soon after. "Also, I haven't really agreed in becoming your disciple yet."
"And here I thought you did after asking all those questions so far," said Mystia with a slight chuckle, causing Valyr to slightly frown once again. "Then again, I did somewhat force the position unto you, but let's save that conversation for later."
"Going back to your previous question, the title of the position itself is quite self- explanatory," said Mystia with a calm expression. "The Guardian of the Mystic Plane is just that. You're the one who'll be defending the Mystic Plane from external foes.""What kind of foes would I be up against?" asked Valyr, still unsure as to why Mystia chose him to take up the position.
"It depends," replied the woman as she sat on a nearby chair. Gesturing towards another chair for Valyr to sit on, she continued, "Most of the time, it'll be enemies from the other planes that want to eat the Mystic Plane up."
"Considering the size of the Mystic Plane, you'll only be fighting against foes that are around your rank. If they're hellbent on controlling the plane, they might send out a Rank 5 Epic, perhaps even a Legend."
"And if they're really hellbent on turning the plane into theirs, they'd send out an early Myth."
Processing the information Mystia gave him, Valyr gradually formed an image of the entire situation in his mind as he asked back, "If that's the case, why not choose someone at the peak of Rank 5 as the Guardian, then? Why not a Myth?"
"I'll only be able to tell you the true reason why if you're willing to accept becoming the Guardian," replied Mystia with a wry smile, to which Valyr nodded in understanding. "Though, part of the reason is because we want to catch the plane's foes off guard." "Well... what would I get if I agree?" asked Valyr in response, getting the feeling that the position Mystia was offering him wasn't as simple as it initially seemed.
Fortunately, the things Mystia mentioned in exchange for his agreement somewhat diminished the importance of the what-if that began to fester in his mind."For one, you'd gain the total recognition of the Mystic Plane," replied Mystia, smiling as she told Valyr some of the perks. "With it, you'll be able to enter the Mystic Plane whenever and wherever you are."
"Aside from that, you'll also be able to exert a far higher level of strength in the Mystic Plane than in Veldanyr, which is considered the main perk of becoming the Mystic Plane's Guardian."
"Hmm... what else?" Rubbing her chin for a bit, the woman looked back at Valyr with a playful smile as she continued. "I don't mind giving you help in anything alchemy-related. I could even give you the items I've given Vera and Aloe after they've become my disciples."
"Other than that, I could also teach you the style of alchemy I specialize in... only if you're interested, of course."
"I accept." Of course, with how much Mystia planned on giving to him, it was no surprise that Valyr accepted immediately. "I accept both of them."
Though her words regarding him exhibiting greater power in the Mystic Plane did have a slight sway on him, what pulled him even more were the items Mystia planned on potentially giving him.
Recalling the pill and vial combo he'd received from her after the auction in the past, Valyr could not help but think about how his strength would be far greater than it was right now if he had constant access to the concoctions Mystia made.
However, if one were to ask him what truly made him accept her request, it was the fact that he'd be able to learn alchemy from Mystia.
As he was a blacksmith in both his past and current life, Valyr naturally recognized the great amount of effort one put into their respective crafts to get to where they were, as well as how beneficial that time was when it came to teaching other people the same craft.
With that, he knew that if he learned alchemy from Mystia, he'd be able to zoom through the various stages of alchemy with ease. After all, the woman in front of him was none other than the Meltierre Heavenly Court's Imperial Alchemist.
"...Huh. If I knew it was this easy, I would've told you the benefits of accepting my offers before our conversation even began."
Briefly blanking out from Valyr hastily accepting her request, Mystia soon let out a bit of laughter as she returned to reality, realizing that the young man had shown her a side of him others rarely saw.
"Well then. Now that you're officially my disciple, you must call me Teacher or Master from now on." Standing up to move closer to him, Mystia began to say a few words that caused the young man to slightly frown.
Noticing the change in his expression, she let out a bit of laughter once more before correcting herself. "I'm just kidding. You can call me whatever you want, but please don't use honorifics. I'm only in my late seventies, you know?"
"Really?" Hearing that Mystia was over 70 years old, a look of shock briefly appeared on
Valyr's face.
In his mind, he thought that the woman before him was only in her forties or fifties, considering how she was Vera's aunt.
But 70?
'She's almost as old as Noel,' thought the young man to himself, only to stop as he felt Mystia glaring daggers at him.
"Whatever you're thinking about, stop that," said Mystia, understanding the look Valyr was currently giving her.
Letting out a sigh of relief as the young man immediately followed her words, Mystia soon conjured a rift to her side, taking out a vial filled with viscous golden fluid from it before throwing it towards Valyr.
"To show how thankful I am that you accepted my request, here's the item I promised to give you for making sure Vera was able to leave the inheritance safely."
"Of course, there's still a couple of items I plan on giving you now that you're my disciple, but let's start with this one for now."
Ding!
[You have obtained the item: Constitution Refinement Elixir.]
