chapter-1059
Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself down, it was only after some time did Valyr take a look at his status screen once more, only to be hit with the same level of whiplash his screen brought him the first time he looked at it.
Though he'd already prepared his mind beforehand to expect a great improvement in his stats, the young man was still left at a loss for words when he compared what he saw now to what he'd seen just as he'd ascended to Rank 4.
'A lot of my stats have practically doubled,' thought the young man to himself after a bit of calculation, recalling all of the things he'd done to get his stats to where it currently was.
With that, Valyr was unsure whether to smile or to frown at the great improvement his strength had undergone. After all, his current level of strength was unfathomable even for prodigies at the same rank as him.
Fortunately, he was able to sort out his thoughts after a bit of silence, prompting a smile to appear on his face as the unease he felt from having this much strength meant one thing to him.He would become tyrannically strong by the time the final battle erupted.
Continuing to look at his monstrously high stats from a positive perspective, the young man soon thought about the enemies he'd fought against thus far, going through their status screens one by one as he rummaged through his memories.
Because of that, it did not take long for something to click in Valyr's mind, causing him to let out a chuckle as he thought to himself, 'Now that I think about it, my current stats now put me on par against the Myth-level Void Rabbits in the Void World even without buffing myself.'
'I wonder how I'd fare against actual Myth-level humans?' wondered the young man to himself after coming to that realization, briefly rubbing his chin. 'I'd presume I'd still be a fair distance away from their strength, considering Legacies, Armaments, and whatnot.'
'On the other hand, I'm highly certain I could stand my ground even against the strongest Legends,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, closing his screen as he gave the two a nod of confirmation.
'Though I'll only become sure of that fact once I get the opportunity to fight one.'
"So, how did it go?" Seeing Valyr return his senses back to reality, it went without saying that both Mystia and Marcus were curious about the changes brought about by the second subclass. "How do you feel?""I feel more or less the same... but I guess a bit stronger than before?" replied the young man, his smile containing uncertainty as he gave the two more insight on what it was like to have a second subclass.
With Valyr going over the fact that there were restrictions to the second subclass imposed by the system, as well as titles that came along with obtaining a second subclass, both Mystia and Marcus committed all of the information the young man was sharing them to memory.
Unsurprisingly, by the time Valyr went over the part that getting a second subclass early would alleviate some of the system-imposed restrictions that came along with getting one, Mystia immediately urged Marcus to give her one as well.
In response to that, Marcus wryly smiled, reminding her that he was still in a state of weakness after temporarily sacrificing his strength to give Valyr the second subclass slot in the first place.
Hearing that, it was no surprise that Mystia's expression turned glum after that, eventually prompting Valyr to cheer her up by reminding her that there were only over 300 people before him that obtained a second subclass in Veldanyr.
Feeling a sense of hope from the young man's words, it was as if the glum feeling Mystia just had was a figment of the imagination, with her expression more or less returning to how it was before.
Seeing Mystia go back to normal, both Marcus and Valyr looked at each other before simultaneously letting out faint sighs of relief, causing both of them to laugh in response.
"Say, Marcus." After some time, a question popped up in the young man's mind, immediately attracting both Mystia and Marcus' attention. "Can you only get a second subclass slot from concept planes?"
"As far as I know, no." Marcus shook his head after a bit of contemplation. "Though it's probably the relatively easiest way to obtain a second subclass slot, I've heard that there are some quests that offer an additional subclass slot as a reward."
Noticing Mystia's gaze faintly glistening at those words, the man decided to continue his explanation by giving the former a taste of reality. "Of course, just like how the opportunity I've given you is hard to come by, it goes without saying that obtaining a quest like that is difficult as well."
"In fact, I'd say it's far more difficult to get a quest like that than to obtain a second subclass slot from a concept plane."
At those words, Valyr nodded in agreement, even though he felt like the level of difficulty of both methods were more or less similar.
After all, if the difficulty of the first one lied in the fact that one had to obtain the quest in the first place, then the difficulty of the other lied in the fact that one would need to go up the hierarchy of the concept plane, then get into the good graces of the Overseer.
"I've also heard a few things here and there regarding other methods of obtaining an additional subclass slot," continued Marcus. "Though, as far as I can recall, those methods are only available to those beyond Divine-level."
"...Alright. Let's move on from that topic, shall we?" Feeling more and more forlorn the more Marcus talked about how bleak the chances of actually getting an additional subclass slot was, Mystia decided to interrupt the conversation from continuing any further.
With that, she shifted both Marcus and Valyr's attention elsewhere, with the woman focusing her gaze on the latter as she smiled. "To be honest, I had a different approach in mind when I planned on teaching you alchemy..."
"But since we've already spent a lot of time with the second subclass thing... I guess we have no choice but to speed through the basics if we want to make the most out of this."
"Now, Valyr. What do you think is the meaning of alchemy?"
