1115 Obstruction
"After grabbing a mission made for 10-star mercenaries, who knew the next mission you'd grab would be a mission made for 3-star mercenaries?"
Receiving the stamped document that was given to him, Aleos looked at it for a bit before looking back at the young man in front of him with an amused smile.
"Is there a problem with that?" said Valyr back with a wry smile. "Can't I not take an easier mission from time to time?"
"Also, just to let you know, I took up the mission since I wanted to help my friends out," continued the young man as he pointed at Edward and Wells behind him."Heh? The so-called Azure Blade actually has friends?" joked Aleos in response, causing both Edward and Wells to look at Valyr with slightly confused expressions.
On the other hand, Valyr frowned in response as he glared at Aleos, prompting the latter to let out a chuckle as he retrieved the rewards for their missions.
Noticing that the attendant helping them was away for some time, Wells took the opportunity to ask Valyr more about what he'd heard. "What did he mean by Azure Blade?"
Seeing both Edward and Wells look at him with curiosity after that, Valyr inwardly let out a low sigh as he made a mental note to have Aleos treat him in the future.
After that, he gave the two a brief explanation as to how the nickname came about, with many of them seeing him kill orcs with his Prime Azure Energy.
Hearing that the young man continued to use that method of combat even when he took up the mission made for 10-star mercenaries, both of them looked at Valyr in disbelief as they began to wonder whether they were even looking at the same person they knew.
Fortunately, just before the two could doubt their friend's identity even further, Aleos returned to give them all of their rewards, including the merit points that came with the mission."Considering that you three worked together to complete it, the rewards shall be distributed evenly between the three of you," the man told them, to which the three nodded in response.
"The item rewards aside, you earned 15 merit points from this mission… so you get five merit points each."
Whoosh!
Infusing a bit of energy into their identification tokens, Aleos eventually returned the tokens back to them, only to then talk to Valyr for a bit about his next plans.
Hearing that he planned on taking a break before taking on a new mission, Aleos nodded in response as he watched the three of them slowly leave his field of vision.
Arriving at the entrance to the main mission hall, Valyr glanced at Edward and Wells with an apologetic smile before asking, "So, I guess we'll part ways for now?"
Looking at each other for a bit, Edward and Wells eventually nodded in response to his question, but not before asking the young man if it was possible for him to help them in their next mission.
Promising to help them out on the next mission they asked him to tag along on, it was only then did the three part ways for now, with Valyr staring off at the buildings in the distance.
"Hmm…" At some point, his gaze landed at the rentable workshops found at the east section of the military base. "I suppose I could try my hand at making a better magic staff than the one I have now."
"After all, I've stocked up on Refinement Jewels thanks to the missions," muttered the young man to himself, only to then cycle through the various magic staff blueprints he had in his mind after that.
In the end, the young man decided to try his hand at it some other day, bitterly smiling as he realized he didn't even have half of the materials that were needed to forge a new magic staff.
Shifting his thoughts elsewhere for the meantime, Valyr began to walk through the streets of the military base before bringing up his chat screen in front of him to talk with Hal and Vera.
After making contact with the two on his first day at the military base, it went without saying that the three maintaining constant contact with one another after that, talking about their various experiences in the battlefield among other things.
Seeing that the two had finally confirmed their visit to his military base tomorrow, the young man began to grin as he told them that he'd be eagerly waiting for them.
Heading to one of the nearby restaurants to grab a quick bite, Valyr then recalled another conversation he had in the past, prompting him to send a message to Julian in regards to the progress of the two proposals they pitched.
'It's almost been two weeks since then. Surely, they'd have someone reach out to me by now,' thought Valyr to himself, swiftly gorging down the food he ordered after receiving a reply from Julian a few minutes later.
Once the young man had finished his meal, it was only then did the young man open the message he got from Julian, only to bitterly smile once he was done reading.
"The Blacksmith Guild has been trying to contact me for days already?" murmured Valyr as he read through the message, slightly shaking his head in disbelief. "And they want me to head to the guild's mission hall in the base as soon as possible?"
"Well, I don't know about them, but I haven't had anyone come up to me from the Blacksmith Guild this past week." As these words left his mouth, Valyr sent back a message to Julian, telling him that the Blacksmith Guild hadn't reached out to him the past week whatsoever.
Surprisingly, Julian was immediate in his reply, informing the young man in his message that the Blacksmith Guild had been constantly trying to reach out to him for the past week.
"However, on all the times they were trying to reach out to me, I was either out in the battlefield, or I was either out cold in the inn." Coming to this part of the message, the young man could not help but bitterly smile. "What bad timing."
"Guess I'll pay a visit to the Blacksmith Guild's mission hall, then." Muttering these words to himself, the young man faintly let out a sigh as he closed his chat screen.
Though, just as he was about to start heading there, a pair of robust individuals appeared before him all of a sudden, staring at him with toothy grins on their faces.
"Say, brother."
"Mind sparing a bit of your time for us?"
