1128 Recognized by the Battlefield

By the time Valyr and the others returned to the barracks, they were immediately greeted by a crowd of people heading up to them with curiosity written all over their faces.

However, once they recognized the identities of the trio in front of them, a great portion of them immediately distanced themselves out of respect for the feats the three achieved.

Nevertheless, a few stubborn individuals still remained amongst the crowd, though some of them looked to have come forward in front of the three for a reason.

"What's going on?" Briefly glancing at the crowd that previously surrounded them, Valyr eventually shifted his gaze towards Gerald, who had appeared before them with a purpose in mind.

"We're asking those that just came back from the battlefield with regards to what happened earlier," said Gerald in response, prompting the trio to look at each other for a bit, only for Hal and Vera to look at the young man with a pair of knowing smiles.

"By what happened earlier, do you mean…?" Ignoring the smiles they were giving him, Valyr acted oblivious as he asked in a way that made it seem like he only realized what Gerald meant there and then.

Of course, not knowing that the culprit of what happened in the battlefield earlier was standing right in front of them, Gerald responded in a way that gave the trio more insight on what others saw from afar.

"A dark blue meteor appeared above the battlefield all of a sudden," explained Gerald to the young man, causing both Hal and Vera to move a bit closer in curiosity.

"Though I couldn't see that much from here, I did notice that it was mostly our people that were able to escape from the aftermath of that attack."

"With that, it doesn't really take that much time to figure out the rest," said the man as he glanced at the three. "If the three of you perhaps know who did it, the entire barracks sends them their regards."

At those words, many among the dispersed crowd nodded in agreement, mustering up the courage to voice out how the person that launched the azure meteor earlier had now become someone that commanded their entire respect.

Surprisingly, both Hal and Vera began to chuckle in response to those words, causing Gerald and the crowd to look at the two in slight confusion.

Fortunately, it did not take long for them to notice the cause of their laughter as Valyr's face began to turn a faint shade of red the more the crowd talked about what happened in the battlefield earlier.

Feeling that the young man's reaction was slightly suspicious, Gerald stared at Valyr for a bit more, only for his eyes to widen in shock as realization set in. "Wait a minute… are you telling me…"

Looking at both Hal and Vera, he eventually returned his gaze towards Valyr as he asked him, "You're the one behind the azure meteor?"

As that question left Gerald's mouth, the entire crowd immediately went silent, all of them gazing at the young man with both expectation and curiosity written all over their faces.

In the end, Valyr let out a long sigh as he raised his staff upward before conjuring a far smaller version of the azure meteor they saw on the battlefield before.

"[Prime Azure Heavenfall]!"

Whoosh!

Though the meteor's size was nowhere near the size of the meteor that appeared earlier, the might contained within the meteor still remained, causing many among the crowd to look at Valyr with their mouths agape as they watched him fling the meteor to who knows where.

Lowering his staff after that, Valyr let out a slight exhale as he looked at the crowd that had turned silent.

Then again, just as he was about to ask Hal and Vera behind him on what they should do next, the crowd soon erupted out into cheer for the young man, their gazes at him all filled with awe and admiration.

As for Gerald, the sight of Valyr conjuring the small meteor briefly put him at a slight loss for words. However, after he regained his bearings, he immediately looked at the young man with both surprise and glee.

'Not only has he become a 6-star mercenary within a week, he's also wiped out a great portion of our enemies on the battlefield with just a single move.' Recalling the first time he interacted with the young man, Gerald let out a faint chuckle amidst the excitement as a thought came to mind.

Though, as he mulled over it, a slight frown appeared on his face. 'Wait… if I remember correctly, he took a 10-star mercenary mission before heading to the battlefield…'

Thankfully, it did not take long for him to connect the dots, causing his smile from before to return. 'Heh. Guess my earlier words were wrong, then.'

'He didn't just become a 6-star mercenary in a week…'

'He became a 7-star mercenary.'

By the time the excitement brought about by Valyr's feat finally died down, the trio were eventually able to verify the completion of their mission through Gerald, who was left at a slight loss for words after seeing the parts Valyr brought out as proof.

Nevertheless, the parts he brought out were more than enough to classify their mission as complete, allowing the young man to finally be promoted to the rank of 7-star mercenary.

After a round of congratulations from Gerald and some of the people that remained from the crowd, the trio eventually made their way back to the military base, faintly chuckling as they talked about what they did at the battlefield.

However, what truly brought the three of them laughter on their way back was their discussion of Valyr's new nickname thanks to the incident, causing him to recall some of the nicknames the crowd had thrown out at random earlier.

"I swear… if those people decide that my new nickname is Lord of Death and Despair…" said Valyr to the two, which only made the two laugh even harder than before.

"Well, it's not like all of their suggestions are that bad." Taking a while to catch his breath, Hal eventually responded to Valyr's words. "In fact, there was someone in the crowd who suggested that you should be called the Saint of Ruination."

"Honestly, witnessing how much destruction you brought to the battlefield with that attack, that nickname really isn't that far off."

After talking about Valyr's possible future nickname for a bit more, the three decided to shift the topic to something else.

With that, Valyr decided to bring up the two proposals he pitched that were accepted back at the recent War Forge Assembly, immediately piquing both Hal and Vera's interest.

Because of that, it took slightly longer than usual for the trio to arrive at the military base, taking a couple of detours along the way to extend the time Valyr had to talk about the topic.

Nevertheless, even if they took slightly longer to arrive at the base, neither Hal nor Vera had any complaints about it.

If anything, they continued to look at Valyr with great excitement and anticipation.
