1132 Special Opportunity

"Now hold on just for one moment!"

Just as the man named Scho'doxa was about to proceed with his explanation, a boorish voice erupted from the field all of a sudden, causing the man to frown as his gaze shifted towards the person that spoke.

Unsurprisingly, everyone on the field also shifted their gazes towards the person that spoke, with Valyr's perception allowing him to find out that the person that spoke was a stocky man that stood over seven feet tall.

Giving Scho'doxa a defiant gaze as he glared at him, the boorish man asked him a question amidst everyone's stares, his words faintly resonating with everyone on the field. "What is this tournament you're speaking of?"

"Also, from your tone, it seems like everyone here has no choice but to participate in it?"

Looking as if he was trying to suppress the annoyance he felt, Scho'doxa took in a deep breath before letting out a faint sigh in response. "I suppose I do owe everyone here at least a short explanation of what's going on."

"Before I begin, I presume everyone here has already read through the notifications they've received?" Indirectly telling the boorish man with his gaze to become silent for a bit, the man swept his gaze over everyone with a raised eyebrow.

After a while, everyone on the large field nodded in response to his question, prompting Scho'doxa to nod back. "Alright."

"As mentioned in those notifications, there are only 15 days remaining before a new version begins," said the man. "I'm sure some of you don't know what a new version entails, but keep in mind that it more or less means that something massive is about to arrive."

"As for what that something massive is, that'll be something I'll explain in greater detail later." Seeing as everyone was intently listening to his words, Scho'doxa faintly nodded before continuing. "In any case, these final 15 days shall be allocated towards the tournament I've mentioned before, the Rise to Prominence."

"During this time, almost everyone throughout the universe has been transported to a field similar to what you're standing on at the moment for the sake of a certain purpose."

"That purpose has already been mentioned in the notifications, which is to find certain individuals that would pave the path in the new version."

At this point, almost everyone looked at Scho'doxa with various levels of surprise and shock, not expecting that the phenomenon they were experiencing right now was happening all throughout the universe.

Naturally, even Valyr was left at a loss for words after hearing it, only now realizing that there was more to the tournament than meets the eye.

"To answer your question from before…" Shifting his gaze towards the boorish man from before, Scho'doxa nodded at him. "Yes, you are correct. Everyone on the field at this moment has to participate in the tournament no matter what."

In response, a portion of the people on the field began to shudder, thinking that they would be forced to fight to the death beyond their own volition.

Of course, the man already knew what they were thinking, giving them a faint reassuring smile. "However, as long as everyone cooperates with me on this tournament, I assure everyone here that all of you will return back to your planet safe and sound."

Fortunately, those words were enough for many among those that reacted to become at ease, taking in deep breaths as they adjusted their minds for what was to come.

"Now then…" Nodding after seeing everyone take his words well, Scho'doxa returned his gaze towards the boorish once more. "Although your question has definitely helped everyone here understand the current situation a bit better…"

"The fact that you ignored my words from earlier still stands." At these words, the man's expression turned slightly grim. "I don't want anyone else getting the same ideas here, so blame yourself for the consequences you'll experience for going against my words."

Whoosh!

Just as everyone was slightly confused after hearing the man's words, the boorish man let out a pained cry all of a sudden, causing everyone to blank out for a bit as they shifted their gaze towards him.

At that moment, they instantly noticed the fact that the boorish man's left arm had disappeared into existence, with the stump that remained there making it seem like he was handicapped in the first place.

With that, everyone sucked in a cold breath of air from the ruthlessness Scho'doxa showed him, prompting everyone to recall a snippet of the man's words from before.

"Please save all of your questions for a later time…" murmured Valyr to himself as he let out a long exhale.

With Scho'doxa's actions reminding him of the Arbiters back in Vaughn's memories, the young man knew that it was best for him to stay silent for the meantime, lest he incurred the man's wrath out of nowhere.

Unsurprisingly, almost everyone in the field soon had the same idea as him, making it seem as if the voices that erupted throughout the field earlier was just a figment of one's imagination.

Even the boorish man from before stifled his cry after Scho'doxa's show of power, prompting the latter to nod in satisfaction not long after. "Good."

"Let us move on."

"The Rise to Prominence tournament is composed of five rounds in total," said the man to everyone. "The first round will be acting as a filter, eliminating almost the majority of the people here from proceeding onto the second round."

"By elimination, that means I'll be sending you back to your home planet of Veldanyr," continued the man, allaying the worries that arose in some people from his earlier words.

"As for the second to fifth round, that's the actual tournament part of the entire thing, allowing us to find the certain individuals that would pave the path for the upcoming version."

"At this point, I'm sure everyone is wondering why there's so many rounds if the first round is merely acting as a filter." As these words left Scho'doxa's mouth, a considerable portion of the people nodded in agreement to his question.

"That is because, aside from finding certain individuals, the Rise to Prominence tournament also serves as a way for the system itself to figure out your placement in the upcoming version."

"This placement comes in the form of a title, which could be improved through certain means," said Scho'doxa to everyone. "I'll talk more about it once the first round is done."

"Aside from that, those that excel in this tournament shall be given a special opportunity that even beings like I would be envious to obtain." With these words, Scho'doxa had attracted the interest of everyone on the field.

Being one of those interested in the special opportunity, Valyr perked up his ears to find out what the man was talking about, only to be left at a loss for words once he heard what Scho'doxa said next.

"Now, you might ask yourself. What exactly is that special opportunity?"

"Well, that would be to become one of the very lucky few among everyone here to visit an extraterrestrial planet that has just been discovered recently."

"According to its natives, that extraterrestrial planet is named Earth."
