1138 Preferential Treatment
Whoosh!
As those words left Scho'doxa's mouth, the man swiftly waved his arms one last time, causing everyone on the field to disappear from where they were.
Not even an instant later, almost everyone appeared within the arena, with many among them looking at their current surroundings with slight bewilderment and confusion.
"Roaaaarrrr!!!"However, before many of them could even adjust to their newfound surroundings, a cacophony of roars snapped them back to reality, prompting to recall the words that had been said to them just earlier.
With that, a great majority of the people took in deep breaths as they faced the beasts that appeared in front of them, wanting to see whether they had what it takes to obtain the special reward.
Or, at the very least, prove to themselves that they had the strength to remain in the second round.
Swoosh!
Whilst near everyone on the field earlier had been forced to face off against beasts before they could even adjust to their new surroundings, a small portion of those people instead appeared on the arena's seating area.
Slightly confused as to what was going on, those people eventually obtained their answer as Scho'doxa appeared in front of them, causing a few of them to shudder in fear as they recalled the show of force he'd shown earlier.
Ignoring the fear some of them held towards him, the man briefly swept his gaze over everyone, though it faintly lingered on a certain being before moving on."I'm sure most, if not all of you are slightly confused as to what's going on," said Scho'doxa in a calm tone. "After all, with how long the first round lasted, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of you forgot what I said when I checked your qualifications."
At those words, a look of enlightenment on some of the people's faces, causing their expressions to light up as they now understood what was going on.
However, to those who still could not put two and two together in their minds, their gaze remained on Scho'doxa, hoping that they would shed light on the confusion they were feeling.
Faintly letting out a sigh after seeing that there was still a small portion of people who seemed clueless as to what was going on, Scho'doxa briefly shook his head as he told them, "In case you've forgotten, all of you have automatically passed through the second round of the tournament."
"With that, there's no need for you to fight ten beasts in a row, just like what the people below are doing."
While those that weren't in the know finally got the answer they sought, those who figured it out from the man's earlier words looked down the arena, immediately seeing a plethora of people fight against the beasts before them.
Seeing as some of the people within the arena were getting injured from the beasts they fought, a look of slight concern appeared on some of their faces, prompting one to eventually ask Scho'doxa, "What happens if they fail to pass the second round?"
"I would be sending them back to your home planet," replied Scho'doxa after giving it some thought. "Speaking of which, thanks for reminding me."
Whoosh!
As he swiftly flew through the air, Scho'doxa's voice soon began to echo throughout the arena, causing many of the fights to pause for a brief moment.
"Similar to the first round, I'll send you back to Veldanyr if you fail to kill the fifth beast," said the man. "However, unlike the first round, you'll have to inform me of your forfeit by saying the words 'I surrender'."
"Of course, if you forget to inform me of your forfeit beforehand, well…"
"Your loss."
At those words, a considerable portion of the people in the arena felt a chill up their spines as they knew Scho'doxa wasn't joking around.
With that, they pushed their concentrations beyond their natural limits, reminding themselves to not bite off more than they could chew.
"Alright." Faintly nodding at the reactions he got from the people, the man soon returned his attention back to the people who'd automatically passed the second round. "With that out of the way, let's get back to what I intentionally planned on doing after bringing you here."
Whoosh!
Saying those words, Scho'doxa went ahead and waved his arms as if he were a conductor, causing a cacophony of notification sounds to erupt within the people's minds.
Ding!
Hearing the same notification sound resound throughout his mind at that moment, Valyr went ahead and opened up his notification screen, causing him to raise his eyebrow in slight interest as he read through it.
[You have passed the second round of the Rise to Prominence tournament.]
[As proof of your passing, your title 'Tier I Being' has been upgraded to 'Tier II Being'.]
'[Tier II Being], huh?' Having taken a brief look at the previous title before they were teleported to the arena, Valyr was quite curious as to what set his current title apart from the previous one.
Ding!
With that, he commanded the system to bring up its description, allowing him to easily identify the improvements the title had compared to its Tier I counterpart.
————
[Tier II Being] (Title)
Rarity: Epic
The Apparatus appreciates your effort thus far. The Apparatus also hopes that you would wholly embrace the advent of a new era.
However, as a safety measure… most of the description has been omitted.
Effects:
> Nullification of damage received from the first two attacks of beings protected by the system
> 20% reduction to damage received from beings protected by the system
> 20% boost to damage dealt to beings protected by the system
> 3% boost to Attack and Defense
[Note: Some terms within the title's description are subject to change once the new version of Greater Beyond arrives.]
————
Ignoring the note at the end of the title's description, Valyr more or less understood that the title was just the same title from before, but twice as effective.
Rather than nullify a single attack from a player, [Tier II Being] would instead allow him to nullify two attacks from a player before taking damage from their attacks.
As for the decrease in damage received and increase in damage dealt, the new title doubled its efficacy compared to before, which more or less meant he had the effects of an additional title like [Apex Hunter] if he were to fight against a player.
Of course, there was also the slight boost to his Attack and Defense stat. However, Valyr felt that it wasn't much compared to the other effects the title had.
…Unless if the title were to be upgraded again, that is.
Satisfied with the upgraded title he received, Valyr swiftly closed the screen he brought up, only to see that everyone around him more or less satisfied expressions on their faces as well.
With that, he shifted his gaze back to Scho'doxa, looking as if he'd been waiting for them to finish looking their new titles first before continuing to speak.
"As all of you have automatically passed the second round, then it only makes sense that all of you would obtain the corresponding title that comes with it," said Scho'doxa. "Just so you know, only 341 of you have received this kind of treatment."
Hearing those words, many among them widened their eyes in surprise, not expecting their numbers to be anywhere near that low.
After all, over 150 million of them went through the tournament's first round.
Even if one were to compare that number of people to the over 25 million that were currently taking the second round, a single percent of that 25 million was far greater than that!
With that, a look of pride appeared in some of the people's eyes, while some looked up to the heavens in slight gratitude, thankful that they'd put into their current situation.
As for Valyr, the young man faintly nodded in understanding, recalling the brief conversation he had with Scho'doxa during the first round.
'Considering how it has something to do with being a 2nd Tier Seed, I'm pretty sure the minimum requirements to get this treatment is no small feat,' thought the young man to himself, only to put his thoughts on hold after noticing that Scho'doxa planned on telling them something else.
"Aside from obtaining the general reward for the second round in advance, as all 341 of you have automatically passed the second round, that also means all of you are eligible to receive the special reward."
Though Scho'doxa said those words in an unhurried manner, by the time he was finished talking, almost everyone began to look at him with both excitement and anticipation.
After all, they'd obtained something that would've originally needed them to kill 10 beasts in a row without even moving a single muscle!
Noticing the feverish gazes many of them were giving him, a slight smile of amusement appeared on Scho'doxa's face before waving out his arms.
Swoosh!
In an instant, multiple bottles were distributed throughout the 341 people that received Scho'doxa's treatment, a peculiar pill contained within each one of them.
Gazing at the golden pill that was contained in his bottle, Valyr slightly raised his eyebrow once he noticed that the pill seemed to have roused something deep within his body.
However, before he could figure out what the pill was exactly rousing within him, Scho'doxa told them something that caught their interests once more.
"Although the golden pill you received may not seem like much, consuming it would allow you to gain access to stats that extended far beyond the 8 general stats you have," said the man, only to pause as he noticed that some of them removed the stoppers on their bottles because of it.
Watching those people consume the gold pills without hesitation, Scho'doxa briefly had a wry smile on his face as he continued, "However, I'd suggest you to consume the pill only after you've gone as far as you could within the tournament."
"After all, just like how there's a special reward for completing the second round, there are also special rewards for completing the other round."
"If you were to combine those rewards with the pill you've just received, it wouldn't be far-fetched to say that your strength would improve by leaps and bounds."
"In fact, it wouldn't even be far-fetched to say that you'd turn into an entirely different person once you consume it!"
