1151 Beyond Coincidence
Whoosh!
With him being the only person standing on his platform, it did not take long for Valyr to be teleported back to the field with the others that had yet to go through the fourth round.
However, rather than appear where they were, the young man instead appeared at a part of the field that put quite a bit of distance from them.
Realizing that this choice was intentional, Valyr faintly nodded in understanding as he sat down to take a rest, taking out a couple of potions from his spatial bracelet to hasten his return to peak condition. At the same time, he took a look at his current surroundings, only to see that there were only a few other people besides him that occupied the separated part of the field.
'Huh. I'm part of the first hundred people to finish the fourth round,' thought Valyr to himself in the midst of his recuperation. 'Would Scho'doxa possibly reward those who cleared the fourth round faster than the others?'
Slightly shrugging his shoulders at the thought, the young man eventually tossed the thought at the back of his mind as he recalled that the rewards Scho'doxa gave out so far were all announced beforehand.
Considering that he hadn't given them a heads-up that anyone who finished faster would be rewarded, it only made sense that there was no difference whether a person came first or last to passing the fourth round.
Not to mention the fact that there were still roughly two more batches of people that had yet to go through the fourth round.
With that, Valyr more or less spent his time waiting staring at the floating platforms from afar, pushing his perception to its limits in a bid to see the fights that were happening on them.
Though he could only barely make out the fights on the platforms at first, that all changed when the young man activated [Hunter's Tracking Eyes], allowing him to view the fights as clearly as he did when finding imperfections on the items he forged.Coming to the realization that he turned a skill initially made for combat into something that encompassed utility and production, Valyr briefly donned a wry smile on his face as he let out a soft sigh.
Then, discarding all of the errant thoughts in his mind, the young man continued to focus his attention on the fights that were happening on the platforms, wanting to see who remained on the platforms till the end.
Sweeping his vision over all the platforms for a bit, Valyr's gaze eventually focused on a certain platform, noticing that Wells had also been teleported by Scho'doxa to make up the fourth round's first batch.
Though the man was definitely capable on his own right, Wells eventually decided to forfeit early and jump off the platform, realizing that it was useless to fight till he was the last one standing.
Especially after figuring out that there were Rank 5 class holders on the platform he was on.
Finding it a slight shame that Wells was brought back to Veldanyr before the entire tournament ended, Valyr continued to look at the platforms, wondering if any of the others had also become part of the first batch as well.
Seeing that neither of the remaining three were on any of the platforms after looking at all of them for a couple minutes, the young man decided to shift his attention towards the field for those who'd yet to take the fourth round.
Through there, he noticed that the three were still together, seemingly preparing their bodies and minds as much as they could for the moment they got up on the platforms.
Letting out a faint sigh of relief after that, the young man returned his attention back on the platforms, watching as more and more platforms had only one person standing on them after some time.
After a while, these people would then be teleported to where Valyr and the others were, signifying that they had passed the fourth round with flying colors.
After making sure that the floating platforms he conjured had no more people left on them, it was only then did Scho'doxa teleport the second batch of people onto the platforms, repeating the cycle all over again.
From what Valyr could see, most people approached the fourth round in a non-violent way, merely pushing their opponents off the platform in order to become the last one standing.
However, as Scho'doxa mentioned before, there were still those who took a more drastic approach towards the fourth round, killing anyone and everyone that approached them in order to make sure they were the last man standing.
As he let out a slight hiss at the sheer brutality that he saw on some of the platforms, Valyr let out a wide sigh of relief once he located Julian and Edward on their respective platforms, seeing that their opponents approached the fourth round similar to him.
Surprisingly, Edward was able to whittle down the number of people down on his platform to less than 10, causing Valyr to feel a hint of excitement at the thought of the young teenager appearing where he was.
Unfortunately, before that could even happen, a person that had been biding all their time on his platform finally made a move, pushing Edward and the others off to ascertain his victory.
Whoosh!
Feeling a hint of sadness after seeing Edward be teleported back to Veldanyr, the young man briefly shook his head as he shifted his attention towards the platform Julian was in, only to notice that his opponents were more or less similar in strength to him.
Though, what truly surprised him was the fact that almost a fifth of the people on his platform were Legends, prompting Valyr to bitterly smile as he knew it wouldn't be long before Julian returned to Veldanyr as well.
Swoosh!
After Julian was sent back to Veldanyr with the help of Scho'doxa's powers, the young man idly watched the remaining fights on the various platforms as he watched the number of people on their field gradually reach 2,000.
Then, repeating the same process one last time, Scho'doxa teleported the remaining people on the other side of the field onto the platforms, allowing the people to fight amongst themselves on who would become their platform's victor.
Considering that there was only over 2 million left on the field before the fourth round truly began, the young man did not find it surprising that the third batch of people only filled slightly over half of the floating platforms that Scho'doxa conjured.
Nevertheless, such thoughts did not cause his gaze to move away from Noel's platform, only for him to bitterly smile once more as he realized the old man's situation was similar to Julian's earlier.
'To think there's even Myth-level beings on his platform.' As he took note that half of the beings on Noel's platform were all Legends, Valyr's eyes widened in incredulity once he noticed that there were also a few among them who were solidly at the Myth level.
Realizing that Noel wasn't going to pass the fourth round either, the young man let out a bitter chuckle before letting out a long sigh, wondering whether there were still people he was familiar with that passed the fourth round.
'I suppose Mystia would have no problem passing the fourth round,' thought Valyr to himself as he looked around, hoping to see her already on the part of the field he was on.
Seeing that she wasn't on the field, the young man shifted his gaze back onto the platforms, only to notice that she was still fighting against other people on her platform.
Gauging the strengths of the people she was fighting, the young man soon let out a faint sigh of relief once she realized she was one of the strongest, if not the strongest person on her platform.
After all, she was the only one among them who'd not only broken through the barrier of Myths, but was also at the peak of Rank 6.
'I wonder if there are other people I know who might pass this round.' Finding solace in the fact that he'd meet up with Mystia on the field sooner or after, Valyr decided to rummage through his memories in a bid to recall other people he might know…
…Only to feel someone gazing at him.
"Hmm?" Raising his eyebrow as he slightly frowned, Valyr turned to look in the direction of where he felt the gaze from, immediately coming face to face with a man that looked to be in his late 30s to early 40s.
Getting the feeling that he'd seen the man somewhere before, the young man knit his eyebrows as he continued rummaging through his treasure trove of memories.
At the same time, the man he was looking at knitted his eyebrows as well, seemingly focusing most of his attention towards Valyr.
Eventually, as if the heavens planned the current situation all along, both Valyr and the man soon realized who they were looking at, causing both to widen their eyes in disbelief as they exclaimed in unison. "You…!"
"You're the…!"
"Back in the dungeon in that small village!"
